The split squad. This regular occurence in the Spring Training schedule is much like when they served Salisbury Steak at lunch in elementary school. I hate it.

However, much of my hate is out of ignorance. I'm not really sure what all this entails, as I've never been to a split squad game. I'm assuming it means exactly what it says, the squad is divided to play two different games.

But, if I buy tickets to the March 13 split squad game against Houston, what will I be seeing? Only one game is scheduled for that day. Where is the split? What is likely to occur? If you have any previous knowledge from experience, please post. I don't want to fork out $30 to watch the ghosts of Gene Stechshulte and Garrett Stephenson try to strike out Richard Hidalgo.

Is it a waste of money or not?
