As gratifying as it has been to see the Warriors front office attempt to be players in the offseason, we all must remember the current rumors and news we are being fed is "Faze 1" for the GSW organization. A lot of fans and loyalist become enamored to any proposition presented that includes our beloved squad, and I too find any bit of news intriguing. The deal of Jamal Crawford to the ATL for Texas Tech "college star" AC Law (and the expiring/insurance covered contract of Speedy Claxton) saves the Warriors some starter money to play in 2010. Also, in terms of team, Jamal was too much Allen Iverson and not enough Chauncey Billups. This was the first move of the offseason and should be interpreted as move to begin to balance this unorthodox roster.

Now to Amare. No matter the back and forth banter going on about Mr. Stoudemire, we all must look at the reality of any action that may take place. First, Amare is a 6'10 249 lb physical presence who is 27 years old, he has averaged 21 ppg, 8 rpg and 2 apg along with being a 4 time All Star. Yes he has had micro-fracture surgery and torn retina, but even with that in mind, he is STILL going to be more dominate than 95% of all low post presence in the League. Giving up Bean's, Wright and Marco is the only true reality the Warriors can reasonably provide; Monta, Randolph, Morrow, Captin' Jack and Corey I just don't see them being moved in any way (at this moment in time) due to many different individual factors and reasons. Many of the Warriors fan base also still yearns to actually see this core as currently constructed all play together healthy to see what can happen, but lets be realistic, all healthy the Warriors are not a playoff team now or in the near future, PERIOD. The big issue pertaining to the Amare deal is not newly acquired Stephen Curry being factored in the deal (not going to ever happen in this scenario) but the large contract extension Amare is going to demand which would end up being around the $95 million range.... are those figures even in Cohan and Rowell's vocabulary? If so, than the Warriors can be proud to have at least made a significant enough move that may aid in the ever challenging rise up the Western Conference ladder.

Now no one around the Warriors front office, GoldenStateOfMind family or t.v. & radio media have talked much about the Warriors inclusion in the epic crop of available NBA talent in the 2010 free agency coming soon. I think the reasoning is obvious; the Bay area is not a market that David Stern has any true interest if helping develop and promote, thus making the Warrior franchise way less than an afterthought for most NBA celebrities. I also do not accept the time zone issue being a factor for the "East Coast Bias" since L.A. Lakers have no problem as well all know. The Warriors fun style and arena atmosphere are trademarks that help expose and shine a spotlight on the Bay, but the overshadowing front office soap opera issues make up the Warriors "Yin-Yang" perception. Yet, regardless, if the money is there to play with, than landing a possible star free agent MUST be discussed into the plans of this franchise. LeBron is the only one I feel is out of the question, not going to happen, but again, if the money is right, Wade (yes even him), Bosh (who we should look at now in trade talks), Dirk, Chandler, Roy (restricted), Gay (restricted) etc, etc, etc, are all "options". Management must take the initiative to market to these players as aggressively as they can, which the cause of concern for most is do the ones in charge have not just the desire to do so, but even more so, the imagination and creativity to appeal the franchise they are in charge of. Most blame the management of not caring to improve an actual team because the business and bottom line mean more to them. Yet in reality, a lack of personality along with creativity and craftiness do not give these individuals much to work with in competing to win the desire of an NBA superstars ego an interest. Dollars talk, we all know that, but being in the Bay Area should be (I emphasize should be) presented for all the greatness that comes along with it and if done correctly, should be a huge advantage in capturing the interest of at least one of those free agents.....DAMN YOU DAVID STERN, you are no help!!!

Next, I would like to be the first to say this.........If the Warriors stink it up (again) this upcoming year and if (big "if") we get lucky and get a #1, #2 or #3 pick, we are in for a plethora of options. The 2010 NBA draft may be one of the most strongest top to bottom in the past couple decades! There are legit superstar contenders here, many know a few names, but most do not follow and research enough to understand, I will try to help.

First off, everyone wants that #1 Spot, and in this case, that is the absolute truth. Who cares that we have Monta and Curry, the #1 pick of the Warriors should and would be, may I present to you, John Wall. If you all do not know by now, here is a little preview.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4CbQGBbUOw

This player is major in regards to scouts and NBA personnel. Comparisons can be made and attempted, but when watched extensively like I have for the past couple years, I see Derrick Rose and Dwayne Wade combined. Speed, handles and athleticism are obvious, but the furiosity and power that Wall plays with is resembled by few. His learning curve is at an advantage already because of this which he now already knows to bring on both sides of the floor. He is headed to an unusually loaded Kentucky squad with new head coach Calipari and will be presented with an even larger spotlight which will most certainly increase his image as the obvious #1 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. May the drool fest begin.

Other than Wall, this draft is headlined by a field of big men talent that will overshadow the talent at the guard position (except for Wall). Names like Ed Davis (North Carolina), Cole Aldrich (Kansas), Derrick Favors (Georgia Tech), Al-Farouq Aminu (Wake Forest), Greg Monroe (Georgetown), Donatas Motiejunas (Lithuania) (yes I'm even aware of the overseas talent too). All are on another level then anyone found in this past draft (except for Griffin). On top of the big men available, we have to mention Lance Stevenson (via NYC but not decided on college, may go overseas), Xavier Henry (6'6 220 lbs FR SG going to Kansas with NBA made body and game), DeMarcus Cousins (6'10 250 PF FR going to, yes, Kentucky...straight BEAST!), Kemba Walker (UCONN), Willie Warren (Oklahoma), the list goes on and on.

The Golden State Warriors are engulfed right now with a few options today, but a sea of possibilities later. Whatever choice they make today with Amare or Bosh or maybe even Boozer are great and I will be thrilled and excited, but even without I get to see Randolph, Morrow, Ellis and Curry shine regardless which we all should feel privileged and excited about. Also if our beloved Bay Area squad continues to shed the cap space and grow those dollars for the 2010 season along with gain some luck and/or make some moves for the 2010 NBA draft, we all will not be let down. I do not see any logical scenario in which going up is not the path traveled, we have a team (forget the franchise and management) that captures our attention and thrills us every step of the way. Frustration may come and go, but the entertainment and satisfaction of being apart of this team is undeniable.

Just think about it, think about it all!!

First game is PRIME EXAMPLE why I cant stand Don Nelson

I know some will say that the Warriors played a close game against one of the supreme teams in the NBA, but I saw the same overshadowing problem from last year.

That problem is not the players (though I'm sick of Harrington two years ago), but coach Nelson himself. Honestly, why are people supporting this man so hard? He has brought the Warriors to a competitive level, but I ponder why there always seems to be a large roadblock in-front anytime there is a chance for a win like tonight. Again, I KNOW THEY WERE IN THE GAME TILL THE END!!!, but Coach Nelson played 7 players (Watson does not count). THREE played 40+ minutes, FIVE total about 30+ minutes! mistakes happen with fatigue, and that is what cost the game in the end.

Before the possession where the Warriors turned the ball over on a simple inbounds with a chance to win, I said to my dad "they usually don't even get a shot off at these moments" and look what happened. Nelson did his team in way before that moment due to tiring them out up to that play. Yet the Warriors still had a shot to tie and what did they do???? the same ANNOYING play they did too many times last year....get the ball to AL HARRINGTON!! He is the last one I want to shoot, I'm sorry but that should NOT be his play. Again, BAD coaching, STUBBORN coaching.

My thing with Nelson is that he talks a good game, but he does not have the GUTS to expand his teams options. He sticks to what he feels comfortable and safe regardless if other options may pay greater results and be more logical. He refuses to step up and ever take responsibility for poorly coached games and he refuses to open his mind to what seems like common sense by now. What I am getting at is this:

- A few minutes for Marco to get some shots up and get us some points when we are running on a dry spell (We drafted him for his shooting right?). Marco’s gift is shooting, point-blank-period! Use him when there is a scoring drought. A couple threes would have helped tonight in certain points in the game like at the end of the first half where we gave up an 11 point lead (dry spell) and at the end of the game (AL Harrington???!!)

- A few minutes for B Wright and A Randolph for rebounding, aggressiveness, shot blocking, athleticism, FRESH LEGS giving time for the starters to catch their breath. We know Wright and Randolph are LONG and jump out the gym, they have a nose for the ball and make up a lot of ground on the court (I have always tried to point out Harrington, Biedrins and Jackson are “Bottom Heavy” players who are not jumpy NBA athletic). Wright and Randolph are momentum changing players at the very LEAST right now, and in a game where bodies are tired and need a rest or boost, fitting these two in for a spell make the greatest sense in the world!

- Draw some plays to get the offense moving around while in half court (something I thought would happen with B Diddy out, but no, still stagnate). This is a major factor that allows this team to get into those COMMON scoreless sprees and lose those leads FAST! Being stagnate leads to no flow to your game, allows the other team to rest and catch up to you and then leads to a loss, plain and simple.

These are all simple and also "common sense" points, yet coach Nelson seems too stuck in his ways to incorporate anything else but gutless, cancer-like game tactics that do nothing else but lead to 5-7 worn out players, 8 other players with DNP's and wasted resources and another missed shot by Al Harrington.

I still love my Warriors, but I feel as a loyal fan, the Warriors are not going to excel in any fashion with this coaches fake talk, spineless actions and stubborn attitude.

Mullin to scout Livingston today

Dimemag.com reports that today, Chris Mullin is flying to Chicago to take a serious look at Shaun Livingston. Rumor has it, Mullin was considering him well before the Monta issue. Makes a little sense now, with Livingston being a low risk - high reward option for the team. I look at it like this, WHY NOT? It is not like the Warriors need to make any more moves (Monta only out for a month or so into the season) but why not take a chance, what harm can it cause, NONE.

I feel that this will push coaching to play the youngsters on the squad and most important, build confidence in game time situations.

Anyway, here is a part of the dimemag.com report and link:

http://dimemag.com/2008/08/chris-mullins-outlook-on-warriors-pg-situation/

* Mullin is going to watch Shaun Livingston work out today in Chicago. Presumably, Livingston would take the third spot on the depth chart behind Williams and C.J. Watson.

Mullin said he’s interested in Shaun Livingston and indeed will take a long-scheduled trip to Chicago to watch Livingston work out tomorrow. He said it wouldn’t worry him too much if Livingston can’t play immediately because he has enough ball-handlers, even without Ellis.

The Warriors were rumored to be interested in Shaun Livingston before Monta got hurt, but now he’s obviously in a better position to get signed. Talent-wise, Livingston is better and has more potential than Williams, but who knows where he’ll be health-wise when the season starts. They could take a chance on him as Williams’ backup...

What do you all think, worth the chance? Will it happen?

Chemistry is key to Season

I have enjoyed the offseason and all the changes that have occurred. Like many, I was sad to see some players leave (Baron, Barnes, Pietris), but also excited to see others come (Maggette, Turiaf, Randolph, Marcus). To be honest, it has kicked up entertaining and interesting “Post” on this site (that many people are complaining about too much) in a time that is usually not as busy in compared to in-season. I understand a lot of points about this trade and that signing, and many points are valid, but at this time I feel the roster is pretty much set and the focus that REALLY should be talk of is about CHEMISTRY.

Teams have flourished with great rosters and also with suspect rosters as well. The 2008 Celtics were criticized due to the lack of depth they were left with after the major trades with Ray Allen and Garnett took place, and we all know how that ended up. My point is that the roster is set and we all have never seen this group play together, and the key to the season is in the hands of coaches and players to build that chemistry to get the most out of their collective abilities. I for one am interested in how it all will play out, due to the “odd” roster that has been assembled.

The dubz have implemented a core that is still guard/forward dominated (Maggette, Harrington, Wright, Randolph, SJax, Hendrix), but players such as Maggete and Hendrix (up until now are unproven and inexperienced) do bring a “physical strength and toughness” that lacked last year and seem to be a better balance in the roster then what was there last year. We also have the youth, we have the “Potential” as well as some experience and leadership, but in the end it is a team game. I see the success of the team to be defined by the way these professional athletes can become cohesive and refer to one another at a level where it becomes instinct and fits the Warrior style.

Let’s be truthful, this is a team that is not defined by positions, since the majority of them are going to be playing 3 to 4 positions throughout the season. Even the rookie Randolph stated that he views himself on this team as a “Point-Forward”, only with the Warriors! I have always liked that approach because I feel that it somewhat keeps the game more open for players due to the fact that they have so many options in all the different matchups they will face. The Dubz are freestyle basketball, a form of “controlled chaos” that is entertaining, but also can be manipulative and effective….if done right. That style is overwhelming for opponents, but only when done with a specific attitude and swagger, something I feel was largely missing from last season's squad.

I want to see the Dubz get out and “Run Hard” and play that “Scrappy” style that causes chaos for opponents, that is trademark Dubz game. This style though, only can work when the rhythm is right, with players all on different pages, that style brings large leads that are lost in the span of 5 minutes (and vice versa). That has been mentioned as the allure and appeal of the Warriors games, yet me personally, I would rather see the Warriors demolish teams in an all out slaughter. When the Warriors are on the F.L.Y. and the game is beautiful, but all last year I did not see that same fight and desire together that provided the special run the year before. I figure it is hard to maintain and there are many other factors involved that probably were explanations, but I just feel that even though the Warriors roster can be tweaked her and there, but if the mind, passion and chemistry aint right, then no significant change is going to happen.

Don’t play for just the paycheck, leave that to us “common folk” who are stuck in that world, these players play a game as their career and get PAID large! Go out and worry about pride and be competitive for the sake of wanting to win every time! I kind of want to see the technical’s and ejections (sometimes when the time calls for it), I love that passion and fight. It should be looked at as an insult if an opposing player throws one down hard in our gym, or if the other teams bench is laughing and enjoying themselves during the game. If any of that was happening, that is when the beast comes out and goes insanely HARD! I know I may sound like just some average fan, but this is still a game from what I understand, and when the hoop game starts, all that other stuff gets pushed to the side and a true player and athlete should just think the same; Win, don’t lose, Win! I’m telling you, do not worry about the blend of players, just hope that these current Warriors find a way to ball together and stay determined for all 48 minutes! The ability and skills are all there in each individual player, so the next step is turning all that into one beautiful beast of a team!

The game needs to become fun again and that “fire” needs to be installed in every player (and coach too) so success can be associated with Warriors basketball!

Question: If Dubz Get Brand, then what will Baron do?

I have a question for everyone that just came to me.......

If Brand signs with the Warriors, what will Baron Davis do? He ONLY verbally committed to the Clippers (Boozer did the same thing to the Cavs a few years ago and then went to the Jazz) and thus would he then back peddle and take any offer with the Warriors? Obviously, Team wise, he would be in hell with the Clippers compared to what Team the Warriors would then have.

Also, would Mullin even offer him a decent contract in that situation? (I would assume sure he would). Does the allure of still playing in Los Angeles supersede all? Will he try for the Lakers (don't know if that is even possible).

I just was wondering what you all feel WOULD and/or SHOULD happen if Elton Brand accepts the Warriors offer, me personally, I do NOT care. I love the Warriors no matter what and would be excited for the possibilities this year if we get Brand and/ maybe Baron or the possibilities for the future if we don't get them and are rebuilding because we got some young talent.

This whole situation is exciting for offseason, now we got summer league coming too!

The Warriors need ball handlers, baller’s who can CREATE for the team as well as CREATE when the moment calls for a big play. We have shaky ball handlers who make you hold your breath whenever they make an attempt (i.e. Jax & Monta). I have noticed this for a while, even with Baron, his handle has been getting more suspect this past season. I know we need bigs down low, but now with Baron off the roster, the Dubz need an initiator BAD!

I am going to go back to the 2007 NBA Draft and re-enforce a stance I had during that period. In the beginning of the draft I had a target for the Dubz to get. I analyzed all possible players that would be available at our spot in the first round (#18) and the absolute best prospect/fit for the Dubz was Javaris Crittenton. His size and skill was obvious, but what made him stick out to me is the fact that you couldn’t really find another Point Guard that fits what the Warriors do on the court. In a way, I felt that Javaris would be able to maintain the Warriors style of play once Baron does leave. He is young and talented in a way that one can’t help but compare to Baron, thus would make sense in regards to working toward the future AND maintaining the style of play we have all come to love.

The best way to describe Javaris is to read an analysis of him from http://nbadraft.net/admincp/profiles/javariscrittenton.html (which is an excellent site on prospects)

Tremendous combination of size, athleticism and playmaking ability ... Quick first step ... Excellent vision and passing skills ... His size allows him to see over defenders and make passes that the average 6-2 PG could not ... Shows great heart, very competitive. Won’t back down from a challenge ... Very quick, an elite level athlete ... Loves to dunk on players ... Excellent body strength ... Rhythm shooter, with good slashing and scoring ability ... His huge hands give him excellent control of the ball ... Very unselfish player ... Excellent foot speed, overall quickness and effort makes him a tough defensive player ... Works hard to improve his game, very coachable ... Has a great attitude, confident but not cocky ...

When the Warriors took Marco Belinelli with the #18 pick, I saw the reason, but I did not see the LOGIC when a backup point guard was obviously a big need (proved now with the predicament we are in now). I had to assume that the Warriors management did not like what they saw in Javaris, but I still know that when the pick was made and he was still on the board, I was mad. When Baron Opted out then verbally agreed to sign with the Clippers, the same emotion came back and made me so eager to find a way to run up in Chris Mullins office and state my case to go get Javaris like he should have done first of all in the 2007 NBA Draft!

Javaris is available NOW, the warriors need a Point Guard NOW, and honestly, they do not have any great realistic options. Do not waste a spot by signing an average reliable Point Guard. Since this fiasco has erupted, go all out and get a young, talented Point Guard that will fit the Warriors style and maintain for today and still add to the growth for the future. I really do not want a Kirk Hinrich or any of those average players out there. The Warriors kept doing that for 13 years when they got players like Mookie Blaylock, an old John Starks, Nick Van Exel, Bimbo Coles…”average at best” players. We stick to average and mediocre players and did not take chances of greatness then and I defiantly do not want to see that today, It didn’t work.

I also like Shaun Livingston too, he is not too similar to Javaris, but is still big (height wise) and young and talented. Take a chance, Baron was injury prone, so that is no excuse to not go after Shaun and SETTLE for Kirk Hinrich. We need SPECIAL players and management needs to correct their logic to this NBA game and business, like on the court they need to be aggressive, take real chances and make moves that can pay off BIG. Mediocrity is no longer an option, we need to play great now and play great in the future.

So I said it then in the 2007 NBA Draft and I say it NOW “Post Baron” and say Javaris Crittenton and/or Shaun Livingston (I would not mind both) should be top priority and required by Warriors Management, all other options just do not do it for this franchise………….Anyone know Mullins phone number??

Sources: Warriors make offer to Brand after losing Davis

The Dubz are desperate. Management seems to have lost it and are providing a pathetic sequel to the Gilbert arenas situation. I am up late trying to find any breaking news that give any glimmer of hope and came across this from

www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=430104

But here's what hasn't been known: Two sources report that the Warriors, flush with cap space now that they're not responsible for Davis' $17.8 million option, reached out with an offer to Clippers free-agent big man Elton Brand in an attempt to limit any potential PR damage from the loss of Davis. "Baron is very popular," one of the sources says, "and if they can't replace him with Gilbert, Elton is the next-best option."

What do you guys make of this? A desperate attempt when all is lost, or a true counter attack approach where management is not going to just lie down and not fight? Remember nothing is official until July 9th, so all options and outcomes are still there.

Marreese Speights

I have heard and read about all these other players who the Dubz should draft:

Koufos - Please, lets not even begin to bring him up as an option If he doesn't remind you of a bust and non-impact player, then I don't know what to say.

Donta Green - OK player, BUT not big enough to make the impact we need (strength)

Jason Thompson - Please, NO no-name players, it doesn't work out 99% of the time, you all know this!

JaVale McGee - if he doesnt remind EVERYONE of Pat O'Bryant, then I doubt any real scouting has been done.

Robin Lopez - Uggggggghhh, move on, Don't even think about it!

Darrell Arther - I just don't see any real impact, sorry.

I only see one player that would be around when the Dubz pick that has the "QUALITIES" we need. Marreese Speights fits in MY opinion. He has the SIZE, the STRENGTH, the minimum OFFENSIVE SKILLS (Coaching can improve that, their freakin PROS's!), the DEFENSIVE ABILITIE (rebounding, post defense/muscle), and he still has UPSIDE & POTENTIAL. Also he is NBA ready now, period. Good example is last year and Al Horford, being big and strong is an automatic improvement for the Dubz roster.

on the very informative website www.realgm.com, there is a mock draft (of course) that has CONSISTANTLY specified that it is a "NO BRAINER" that the Warriors take Speights. Here is the websites opinion:

14. Marreese Speights Power Forward. Florida

As I said in the previous mock and what I've been declaring since January; if I were Chris Mullin and had the third overall pick, I would select Marresse Speights; he fits their most glaring needs with that kind of perfection. With that clearly said, I will be terribly shocked and personally disappointed if they leave him on the board all the way down at 14.

With impeccable strength, athleticism and balance, there is not a power forward prospect in college basketball outside of Michael Beasley who is more NBA-ready, yet also shows enough room for improvement to develop into an All-Star than Speights.

His work ethic and motor is constantly cited as the chief reason why he isn’t held in higher esteem, but I respectfully couldn’t disagree more. He has a great motor, especially as a rebounder, and if he falls this low or beyond, he will easily become the draft’s biggest steal.

I know there are all these other factors and details that the Dubz analyze, but the strategy and approach to these drafts need to change. For an NBA franchise to have more success in the second round then the first in the past few drafts, an adjustment needs to be made that simplifies the logic to the choices. We need size, strength, experience and nastiness, and we need those things in a player that has potential to grow and thrive in our system and will not be a flake and soft (Koufos). We have been there and done that, and it does NOT work.

Just my opinion, and I am just hoping that I am not mad at the end of the draft because I would like to enjoy it!

P.S. - I know there are some people who don't agree, so let the criticism start, I don't mind, but there got to be a few out there that feel the whole Marreese Speights idea (though I have not heard it be brought up before).

Trask talking between Lebron & DeShawn Stevenson

I know this isnt DUB related, but I still find this funny.

Lebron James and DeShawn Stevenson have a BEEF I guess going back to when LeBron said something about DeShawn to Drew Gooden, and Gooded went and told DeShawn who became pissed.

Articles found here:

http://dimemag.com/2008/03/20/deshawn-isnt-backing-down/

and

http://www.ohiomm.com/blogs/cavs/2008/03/16/cavs-vs-bobcats-2/

When the Cav's played Washington a week or so ago, DeShawn was trash talking to James the whole game and after they won the game DeShawn said after he SHUT DOWN LeBron:

"He's overrated...And you can say I said that."

LeBron then a day or so ago TRIED to come back and respond by saying:

"With DeShawn Stevenson it is kind of funny. It's almost like Jay-Z saying something bad about Soulja Boy. There's no comparison. Enough said."

Not too creative, THEN DeShawn came back and made this QUOTE:

"I hope we play Cleveland. I'm going to get Soulja Boy courtside seats and have him wear a DeShawn Stevenson jersey. Maybe (James) can have Jay-Z there since LeBron's all on his (shorts) anyway. And tell LeBron to cut that beard off and stop copying me."

To me, I really hope that happens and we see DeShawn bring Solja Boy to the game.

What you all think on this....BEEF....???

Headed to Hall Of Fame... Who do you think will??

This recent article on foxsports.com is one man's interesting take on the current warriors (as well as others in the NBA) that have a "Hall of Fame" chance.

This website runs weblog software from:
http://www.nba.com/fantasy/features/ltf_080305.html

It is about an evaluation of all NBA teams and who currently has a chance at being in the Hall of Fame. Here is what he thinks of the Current Golden State Warriors.....

Golden State Warriors

Baron Davis: BD is 28, with career totals of 9,858 points, 4,241 assists, 1,139 steals, and 996 threes. Unless his body disintegrates, he's in.

Monta Ellis: I'm not crazy, freaks. It's just that Monta is crazy good. At 22 years of age, Monta is already averaging 19.2 points on 53 percent shooting. In February, he became the ninth guard in NBA history to shoot 60+ percent from the field in a month. Electric Ellis is unstoppable because he is athletic enough to blow by and crush...and talented enough to smack ya from 18. He's not going away. Monta reminds me of Iverson in terms of size, quickness, and toughness, and I can't wait to watch him prove me right over the next 15 years. (I did not forget about Chris Webber, who is currently at 17,182 points and 8,124 rebounds--and NOT counting. He's out. Get a TO, baby!)

Interesting article, take a look at the rest of the piece and let us know who you all think should be suggested, or who should not be on list.

I know it is just one man's opinion, but interesting idea.
