Feed The Hog!

Hey I was just thinking that if the single wing-wild cat/hog formation is going to continue to be prominently featured, maybe we can add some other players to make it even more dangerous. Part of the reason it has been so succesful is because Pennington has no ego and doesn't mind resting for a few snaps. So adding some mobile college quarterback slash-types could make things interesting. The first guy who comes to mind is Dennis Dixon, but the Steelers don't appear to want to let go of him after his preseason performance. What about other players? Any college experts who can think of some mobile qb's/rb's/wr's out there whose skills don't translate directly to traditional NFL, but might suit our nontraditional scheme?

Can Pennington Give Us Some Inside Info?

I was wondering if Bill Parcells was thinking of a little espionage in his quick moves to nab Pennington. He obviously knows the Jets O and plays against the D. Maybe he can give us a little edge in the opener as to what he saw in camp, people's tendencies, the playbook. Heck Pennington's pretty smart maybe he memorized it. This is probably a little bit just me trying to get over my immediate revulsion at us signing a guy I've cursed and mocked for a few years, or the fact that my wife throws the ball harder than him. But I don't know, maybe there's some evil genius to this.

Feel free to speculate.

Ravens waive TE Xavier Lee

Xavier Lee is the one I'm interested in. He was an athletic mobile quarterback in college and he killed it occassionally at Florida State. He's being converted to tight end for the pros. I think he's worth a tryout at least. Florida State athleticism is not to be taken lightly, and we could use another threat across the middle. He could do some "trickeration" too.

First dibs on the Waiver Wire??

I was reading an article somewhere that mentioned the Dolphins have first dibs on the waiver wire due to having the worst record last year. It also said that the Trifecta would probably take full advantage of that and closely watch who is cut. I was like 'hell yeah!' But then I remembered that the waiver wire always confuses me. Does anyone have a breakdown of the waiver rules, the time periods inwhich cuts most likely occur. Also, I've been searching for a site that keeps track of waivers only. Can't find one. I saw the Texans signed Rosie Colvin after the Pats cut him but that's it. Any waiver gurus out there?

If this occured during the season, Kaczur clearly violated the NFL's substance abuse and conduct policy. He should be suspended. I am no Vick or Pacman supporter but if Kaczur gets a free pass for being a rat something is wrong with the NFL conduct and substance abuse policy. Getting busted with narcotics is cause for suspension. Period. Plus, he's a Pat, so suspend his ASS please! :)

OK OK OK.... I know it's not exactly logical to talk about trading preciously high draft picks for a non-rookie, but I know there are some Caniacs out there who still think Jeremy Shockey has not reached his potential. I don't even know if I would be pissed off or not if the Dolphins TE is a big need for the Fins, and Jeremy Shockey is arguably (K2 was pretty good too) the best tight end to play in the city of Miami. Just thoughts really. Shockey as a Dolphin could be something to behold.

Joey Porter at Inside Linebacker?

If it's true we are gunning for Calvin Pace, I would imagine the plan is to either move Pace or Porter inside. Given Pace's athleticism and production at DE/OLB in the Card's hybrid, I have to think they want him outside. But maybe they are thinking of moving Porter inside. He's certainly big enough and has the coverage skills. Could he hold up against run after run up the middle is the question I guess. Has anybody seen any speculation online from the Dolphins or anyone else on moving Porter inside? Anything negative or positive? Just curious.

Stallworth Now a Free Agent

I think Stallworth would make a nice number 2 receiver. Ginn, Stallworth and a speedy draft pick could keep secondaries from loading the box. Also nice to take a Pats receiver after they swindled us out of Welker. The consensus seemed to be that Bryant Johnson was the number 1 FA with Berrian a secondary option. I think Stallworth is better than these two. I guess folks thought the Pats would exercise the option. Nope! I say we bring him in for little sit-down.
