Michigan State vs. Purdue Basketball Preview

After trading blowouts in their last two meetings, Purdue and Michigan State meet in East Lansing Saturday for their first Big Ten game of the year. The Only Colors looks at what Michigan State will face as they attempt to avoid a third consecutive loss.

DeAnthony Arnett to MSU!

...and only one year too late. MSU has picked up WR DeAnthony Arnett off the transfer wire. The former Saginaw 4-star was considered a likely Spartan last year until he chose Tennessee. He was recently granted a full release from UT in order to pursue a school closer to his ailing father. If the NCAA grants him a hardship waiver, Arnett will be able to play immediately next season for an inexperienced MSU wideout core. This is an exciting addition for MSU (and Andrew Maxwell).

Game Thread and Preview: Michigan State vs. Wisconsin

Michigan State travels to Madison in the hopes of keeping Wisconsin on the ropes and gaining two straight conference road wins.

2013 PG Target Demetrius Jackson to Decide Soon

MSU Leads for 2014 Chicago PF Cliff Alexander

Following on a report from Wisconsin's 24/7 site($), Goin BASELINE has this story. Cliff Alexander, a highly coveted post prospect from Chicago, has named MSU his current leader. Though a lot can happen between now and his decision, Coach Izzo is good at keeping these sort of early leads. Alexander is currently the No. 9 sophomore overall on Rivals and No.13 on ESPN.

Victory! - Michigan State 76, Texas Southern 41

The Only Colors has something to smile about as Michigan State gets a 35-point win over Texas Southern to grab their first victory.

A "Heroic" Effort - UNC 67, MSU 55

The Only Colors finds lots of bright side after MSU's 12-point loss to UNC in the first Carrier Classic.

MSU Basketball Recruiting Round-up ("Gary Harris is Coming to Town" Edition)

Between the visitors of Midnight Madness and Gary Harris' final official visit, The Only Colors re-caps the news on MSU's recruiting targets. Updates on Gary Harris, Tyus Jones, Drake Harris, and others.

2012 MI PF Jordan Hare to Rhode Island

This is for the readers who were once clamoring for Jordan Hare to MSU in addition to or over Matt Costello. Hare committed to Rhode Island of the Atlantic 10 Conference this week. Great pick-up for the Rams. Injuries and other things have limited Hare's exposure and he could end up being a defensive force in that conference.

MSU Basketball Recruiting Roundup (Midnight Madness 2011 Edition)

It's almost time to kick off the basketball season and TOC gathers the latest developments on the young recruits MSU would love to have show up Friday night. Updates on Demetrius Jackson, Tyler Wideman, Jaquan Lyle, Jabari Parker, and Dominic Woodson.

Dwaun Anderson Looking Elsewhere Instead of MSU

With Jeff Goodman's new blog, it sounds increasingly like 2011 Mr. Basketball Dwaun Anderson does not have a future at Michigan State. Anderson is "wide open" and pursuing relationships with other schools with no mention of the Green & White.

'13 Mishawaka PG Demetrius Jackson to visit on Sept. 24

As he mentioned earlier this summer, Demetrius Jackson will be visiting Michigan State on September 24th. There's some speculation that he'll receive an offer if the visit goes well. Whether he does or not will probably tell us a lot about the likelihood of taking a 2013 point guard. Jackson also recently visited and received an offer from Notre Dame.

Gary Harris to take an official visit to MSU on Nov. 5

It's now being widely reported that Gary Harris will visit MSU on Nov. 5, the last of his three currently scheduled official visits. On Oct. 1 he will be at Purdue and follow that with a visit to Indiana on the 15th. The early signing period starts Nov. 9. What do you think about receiving the last visit? How excited are you (still) about Gary Harris? Discuss away!

Dwaun Anderson Will Not Enroll at MSU this Fall

Rexrode has the story: Still dealing with the recent loss of his mother, Dwaun Anderson has decided to postpone his enrollment as MSU. There's no definitive word yet on when or if Dwaun will join the MSU basketball team. Obviously, everyone in the MSU family is supporting him and giving him time to deal with these important issues in Dwaun's own time. Please bare the sensitivity of this in mind with any of your comments - Josh.

Updated rankings are up from Scout and ESPN. The Only Colors checks in on the MSU targets and what the new rankings have to say. James Young, Monte Morris, Dominic Woodson, and more are featured.

D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera Plans an MSU Visit

D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, an Indiana combo guard rated a five-star by both Scout and Rivals, is planning an unofficial visit this month and is interested in taking an official as well. In this article from Monday's IndyStar blog, he lists MSU as one of the schools recruiting him the hardest. It doesn't look like he has an offer yet and the question is whether he will get one before Gary Harris makes a decision.

MSU Offers 2013 TX C Dominic Woodson

We figured there would be more post prospects emerging for 2013 and Woodson had one of the best summers of any relative unknown. He received lots of twitter comments like this one and yet another one here. Woodson's mentor is Ray Jackson and that may actually help MSU in this case with an in-state connection. He has interest or offers from numerous Texas schools with Maryland and UConn also trying to get involved.

Derrick Walton to U-M (An MSU Perspective)
