Chicago Fire Rumor Mill: Andy Pando

9

If the Fire are unable to land a big name striker during the transfer window, it looks like they have a backup option lined up. This report says the Fire have offered a contract to Peruvian striker Andy Pando. Pando, 28 years old, has spent his career bouncing around Peruvian clubs. His past season has boosted his stock, leading the league in the 2012 season with 13 goals. This output has propelled newly promoted Real Garcilaso to third place in the Peruvian top flight. The article mentions that he has a release clause in his contract, so if the Fire are in fact interested in him, it shouldn't be much trouble to sign him. Pando also recently gave an in depth interview in Spanish.

Chicago Fire Rumor Mill: Alex de Lima

4

It looks like the Chicago Fire's preseason trialist known only as "Alex" may not be out of the picture after all. A report out of Switzerland states that Brazilian attacking midfielder Alex de Lima has signed a loan agreement with the Fire. De Lima, of Swiss 2nd division club F.C. Wohlen, has reportedly agreed to a six month loan with an option to extend for three years. The loan spell would begin when the Swiss season ends in May.

Robayo speaks about his move

4

Rafael Robayo spoke to the Colombian media Friday to discuss his departure from Colombian club Millionairos. He said his new contract was a two year contract. The first year of the contract is a loan with the Fire holding the right to purchase the 2nd year or extend the loan. Robayo also said the main reason he went to Chicago was for the benefit of his family. He said he wants to go someplace his family will be comfortable and will live quiet lives without much pressure. He also mentioned that going to MLS makes it unlikely he will ever play for Colombia. He said it was unfair because of the league's improving quality, but that he would work hard so he could someday wear the Colombian shirt again.

Puppo's Contract Details

+

River Plate Sporting Director Rumbo Leonardo gave an interview which included discussion of the contract of Federico Puppo, the Chicago Fire's new forward. River Plate owned Puppo's contract and had loaned him to league rival Danubio for the past two months. According to Leonardo, Puppo's new contract runs for three years. The Fire own half of Puppo's rights, while River Plate retain the other half. The Fire hold the option to buy out River Plate over the next year. Leonardo said the Fire bought Puppo's rights, meaning a transfer fee was paid.. He also mentioned that Puppo initially did not want to move to MLS, but eventually relented.

Pappa Wants Out

1

Article posted today in Spanish and translated by Google Translate: ""How time flies, and are four years of playing in Chicago, where I arrived excited and eager to consolidate, I could accomplish, and although I have a year left on his contract, I think is time to seek new horizons, "he said. Pappa is clear that making the leap to Europe is not easy, but in the same way that patojo, dreamed of playing professional football, keeps the dreams and work hard every day , seeking to be ready when that longed opportunity comes. "I can not deny there are people working on it, go to Europe, and waited to see what lies ahead, there are some options, but until we have nothing concrete not speak. I have a contract with Chicago and I concentrate on that,"

Chaves apparently on the way out

Your intrepid rumor monger is ready to predict that striker Diego Chaves will be leaving the Fire this winter. He mentioned on Twitter that he was in Mexico City early this week while the Fire are conducting their postseason training camp. Also, one of his friends asked him in Spanish if he could stop following the Fire. Unfortunately, Google translate wasn't able to parse some of the other tweets, but it appears Chaves's time in Chicago is done.

A tweet from goal.com writer David Gubala has piqued the curiosity of your intrepid rumor monger. He works at the Chicago Soccer retail store and he said: "We printed 10 logos on 10 2011 Authentic Chicago Fire Jerseys as a presentational jersey from the club to their new potential jersey sponsor". He went on to say "One thing is for sure: Fire will have a jersey sponsor for 2012. Amongst others were, "United" "Walgreens" "Sears" and "General Mills"'.

Pardo to the Fire reportedly a done deal

4

Article in spanish. Club America coach Carlos Renoso is under the impression that Pardo is considering signing with the Fire. However, Renoso also stated that he believes Pardo will ultimately resign with the Mexico City giants. Pardo was the Club America captain last season until his contract expired a couple weeks ago. Update: This source claims that Pardo to the FIre is a done deal and Pardo is traveling to Chicago to sign his contract. The host of an Internet Radio program said he got the information "first hand", though the report doesn't name the source of that information. 2nd Update: ESPN also reporting Pardo to the Fire is imminent.

Pardo Visits Toyota Park

1

Your intrepid rumor monger's enthusiasm was dampened by this report of Chicago Fire President Julian Posada denying interest in or contact with Mexican International midfielder Pavel Pardo. But sure enough, that story got some fresh legs tonight. Pardo was spotted leaving Toyota Park accompanied by a Fire staffer and a young woman. The Daily Herald's Orrin Schwartz and MLSfutbol.com's Raquel Ortiz (Spanish) spotted Pardo following the Fire's 1-0 loss to the Portland Timbers. Pardo himself confirmed that he plans to sign with an MLS club. He said he had "a few" offers and was weighing which to accept. With his visit to Toyota Park, we can be pretty sure the Fire are one of his suitors.
