2009 schedule
Apologies if this has been discussed earlier, and my regrets for interrupting the hot-stove chatter.
But have you seen the first half of the '09 schedule?
Three series against the Cubs in the first seven (or so) weeks? A first-half ending road trip to Milwaukee and Chicago with the distraction of the All-Star Game looming. Series against the Mets and the D-Backs in April? Interleague against Cleveland and Minnesota?
Just look it over and comment here. Goodness. I hope we're healthy.
the case for the dodgers
i'm rooting for the dodgers for four reasons in this postseason:
1. they're playing the cubs
2. they hired joe torre as manager
3. they made a bold trade for an impact player like manny ramirez, and stand a good chance of resigning him (think mcgwire 1997)
4. they have made such moves without sacrificing their very talented young core.
this is a mix of accomplishments i think the cardinals would be well suited to follow (minus the cubs-in-the-first-round stuff, of course). i'm not advocating another "old school" manager once ladunca is gone, but simply a guy that's right for our mix
Discuss.
St. Louis Cardinals: The Movie
Who would play our favorite Cardinals once Disney makes the inevitible straight-to-DVD sappy-film about the 2006 season? Could be a fun debate since these guys are more hi-profile than they've ever been.
New Busch impressions
Hey all,
Spent the evening in St. Louis watching Springfield and Memphis. I'm bleary-eyed and skipped work yesterday afternoon, so I'll have to keep this (semi) brief.
My wife, grandfather and I drove up from Springfield to see the game. As Springfield season ticket holders, we had dibs on upper deck, first-base line seats. We had a rooting interest, but the game was secondary. More on the players at the end.
New stadium
My grandfather has Springfield Cardinals season tickets, and managed to snag a few for the Memphis/Springfield game.
