First off, I am a HUUUGE Blazer fan. Even throughout the dark ages I have loved this team. Basketball has always been my favorite sport. I started following the blazers during the 91-92 season, and have been a huge fan ever since. My favorite blazers up to this point are Lyde, Cliff, JR, Sheed, Roy, Rudy, LMA, and Oden. My best Blazer moment so far has been opening night 2008 against the Spurs. I have never been a part of anything as great at that. It felt like we won the championship. People were chanting rip city in the streets, so sick.

I am also an up and coming rap artist, I would describe my music as "Rap combing life's stories with bangin' beats and skilled lyricism." I go by J-Xile and you can check my music out at www.j-xile.com. You can also follow me at twitter.com/jxile. Thanks for checking out my profile.

Oden for ROY? (With Poll)

Oden for ROY? (With Poll)

I decided to do a little research on the top rookies in the league and see how our guys are doing comparatively.  What I found was pretty interesting and shows that we have a good chance of seeing one our players as ROY this year.  The main prospects on our team for ROY are obviously Rudy and Oden.  Rudy we know about, but Oden hasn’t been talked about much, so let’s look at the numbers.  Before everyone jumps on me, I know it is too early to tell, I just want to put this out there.  I got these stats from NBA.com players section.  I went through the stats and highlighted the leaders for each stat at this point of the season, this is what we have so far:

Leading Stats Player Season Team G GS MPG FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF RPG
3 Mayo 09-Aug MEM 11 11 38.5 0.446 0.407 0.892 1.1 3.5 4.5
2 Rose 09-Aug CHI 11 11 38.3 0.483 0.375 0.833 1.4 3.5 4.8
0 Beasley 09-Aug MIA 11 11 31.8 0.443 0.308 0.868 1.9 3.7 5.6
             5* Oden 09-Aug POR 5 1 21.4 0.533 0 0.654 2.2 5 7.2
3 Fernandez 09-Aug POR 11 0 29 0.444 0.443 0.944 1 2.3 3.3
Leading Stats Player Season Team APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
3 Mayo 09-Aug MEM 2.4 1.2 0.1 2.64 2.4 20.1
2 Rose 09-Aug CHI 5.9 1.1 0.1 2.45 1.4 19.5
0 Beasley 09-Aug MIA 1.5 0.8 0.6 2 2.7 15.4
             5* Oden 09-Aug POR 0.6 0.6 2.4 2.2 3.6 9.8
3 Fernandez 09-Aug POR 2.1 1.1 0.3 1.45 1.5 13.5
* Including all Rebounding stats separate

As you can see, Mayo is leading with the PPG so far, but look at the rest of the stats.  GO is leading in FIVE of the stats.  Granted three of them are rebounding (could count as 1), but hey, he’s leading in them.  Then look at the MPG, G, and GS, big difference.  Imagine what this will look like when GO is getting close to the same amount of minutes.  You can expect all of his numbers to go up, especially if he keeps dropping double doubles and getting noticeably better each night.  I know this is a small sample size but I think we should definitely start looking at GO as a contender for ROY.  What do you guys think?

Oden for ROY

Rudy for ROY

No way, it’s going to be Mayo, Beasley, or Rose… You’re a homer.

Let’s wait and see what happens

Trade for a Veteran?

Wats up fellow Blazer Fans, I am new here but have been reading posts here for the last month.  I was curious if anyone was watching the summer league game yesterday against Minnesota during the David Aldridge interview.  He talked about the possibility of the Blazer packaging a few of our young guys for a veteran like Vince Carter.  What are your thought on this, and who do you think we would make a move for?  i would assume a vet SF because that seams to be our weakest link ( no offense to Webster or Outlaw, I love these guys).
