Pride Of Detroit And the Blue Chips start falling...

Drekirkpatrick_medium

via nbcprofootballtalk.files.wordpress.com

Well lookie here. Alabama CB, and Previously regarded Top 10 pick, Dre Kirkpatrick got arrested for possesion of Marijuana last night.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/17/likely-first-round-pick-dre-kirkpatrick-arrested-for-marijuana-possession/

Most Mock Drafts that I have seen so far, have had Kirkpatrick going as either the 1st or 2nd CB off the board, and in the Top 10 picks.

Myself, I would jump at the opportunity to grab Dre at the #23 pick, if he fell that far. I don't consider weed to be a major "Character Issue", especially with the small amount he was caught with.

Pride Of Detroit The SUH Interview.

I guess Ndamukong Suh was just on the radio with Valenti and Foster on 97.1 The Ticket. I missed the interview, but from what I can gather, (from twitter, and what they are talking about now.) It seems that Valenti pushed a little too hard with questions about the Suspension, and the Accident, and Suh kinda lashed back and eventually ended the Interview.

Like I said, I haven't heard the Interview yet, but I'm sure they will be replaying it soon. I'll also post a link once it's up on their website.

I'm gonna try to reserve judgement till I hear the whole context of the Interview, cause I know Mike Valenti can be a real NY Douche bag.... but everyone is ripping Suh on the air right now.

If anyone heard this leave your thoughts, I'll comment more once I can find a link to the whole Interview.

Pride Of Detroit Virtual POD Meetup, Lion/Falcons Pre-Game Thread.

So as many of you know, The 2nd annual POD meet-up is today at the Lions Vs. Falcons game.  15 or so of our POD Brothers (and 1 Sister), have all convined in Detroit to show our collective love for the "Most Feared Team in Professional Sports".   And since I and many others live too far away to actually make it to the Meet-up, I thought I would throw this thread up to serve as a way for all us to participate in a small way.  Profiler and Enforcer have tweeted a couple pics that I will post after the jump, and if anyone tweets anymore I will post them in the comment section.  I hope that everyone down a Ford Field has a Blast today, Be LOUD, Be Roucshous, Because with the POD in the HOuse there is NO WAY our team can LOSE,  Go LIONS and GO Pride OF Detroit!!!

Pride Of Detroit Time to start Poaching Practice Squad RBs?

We have all heard the recent news on the Lions RB position.  And everyone has been throwing names around on which FA  RB we should sign.  I'm not a fan of Aaron Brown, or Tiki, or Portis.... ect ect ect.

I think our best option might be to pick up a RB from some other team that is deep in the position, and just might have a gem sitting around on their Practice Squad.  Profiler brought up Joique Bell from Wayne State earlier.  I agree with him, that I think he could be serviceable in our system.

All this got me thinking and I decided to check out the Practice Squads from the other 31 team.  Here is a link to the most updated PS Rosters that I could find.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_NFL_team_rosters

After looking all this over, I also think John Clay from the Steeler's PS and UofWisc Madison, could help.  6'1"  230# and a 4.7 Forty.  He had 1,000 yrd plus years his last two in college.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Clay_(running_back)

Or if you want someone a little smaller and faster, how bout Evan Royster, 6'1"   210#  All-Time leading rusher at Penn St.  And a 6th round pick of the Washington Redskins.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evan_Royster

What do you guys think of these 3 guys and do you think they could help with depth for the rest of the season.  I know that they aren't gonna be able to step in right away.  But we got 10+ games to go and we need help at the RB spot.  Also if you see anyone else that intrests you on the list above, feel free to mention it.

Go Lions!!!!

Pride Of Detroit Rookies and the New CBA.

If there is anyone that is getting screwed by the Lockout in the NFL it has to be the Rookies.  I know the fans are getting the shaft too... Big Time!  But I really feel bad for the rookies coming into the NFL this year.

Think about it.

Pride Of Detroit Watch your wallet...

I just read this article from PFT about how the NFL is considering fining Teams that have Multiple, Individual Player Safety Fines.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/05/24/league-may-fine-teams-that-incur-multiple-player-safety-fines/

I'm not sure if they are talking about fining the team when 1 player incurs multiple fines.  Or when Multiple players incur Individual fines.  Or Both, but either way, I think it is Crap.

According to the Report, "Under the current propose guidelines, 4 teams would have received Significant Fines in 2010".   Now, without looking up any info on who was the most fined teams last year.... I'm gonna guess that we could be up there.

The NFL's reasoning behind the Team Fines is to promote proper coaching and technique.  Now I'm just assuming again, but I would wager that the Steelers were probably 1 of those four teams that could have been Fined in 2010.  So by this logic, the NFL doesn't think Dick Lebeau Coaches Proper Technique?  Give me a freaking break.

I get it, player safety is Important,  at least while you are playing in the league.  But the NFL is just after the $$$.  Not only do they change the rules, for what constitutes a Defenseless player.  But now if you can't play by the new rules (and we all know how clear rules are written in the NFL).  We are gonna Fine you,  Even if the Call is Wrong,  We are still gonna UpHold that fine,  And if you don't correct your behavior, or if you're friends (teammates) act up.... Were gonna Fine them too,  And then We'll Fine the Team!!!

This is getting out of Control,  Stop messing with my favorite sport.

Pride Of Detroit Lockout Back ON.  BOOOO

So the Owners have received a temporary Stay, on the ruling from earlier this week.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/29/report-owners-get-stay-of-injunction-lockout-back-on/

In short, I guess this means the doors are locked again this afternoon.  On Monday, hopefully we will have a more deffinite decision on whether the appeal will be granted or not.  And hopefully this does not delay the Lions plans to start OTA's next Wednesday.

All I know, is I am sick of this shit.  I hope all the fans at Radio City Music hall get wind of this before the 2nd round starts up today.  And they make the Heat Goodell took last night look like a Standing Ovation.

Pride Of Detroit Roger Goodell's interview with WXYZ

WXYZ is doing a Pre-Draft Lions Special tonight at 7pm eastern.  Like many of us here, I won't be able to watch it, cause I don't live in the Detroit area.

I did find this video on WXYZ's website though, and thought I'd share it here cause it has some good bits.

I'd also like to ask, anyone who can watch the Special tonight, Please leave your thoughts about it in the comments.  If I find anymore video after the special airs, I will link it below as well.

Pride Of Detroit Stafford got Cut today, wtf....

Images_medium

via t1.gstatic.com

Killer is reporting that Matt Stafford has had Shoulder Surgery today.  Dr James Andrews performed a repair of the AC Joint and a Shaving of the Clavicle in Staffords Throwing Shoulder.  Now I'll be the first to admit, I was all for Stafford getting Surgery to repair his AC joint.  Just look at Sam Bradford, his shoulder looked great this year after almost the same injury his senior year of college.  I just don't understand why you would do it now, instead of 2 months ago.

Stafford is said to be out for 4 months now recovering from this surgery,  which puts his return around the end of May.  I don't think that the recovery time will hurt Matt, and provided a new CBA gets done, he will be around for "Most" of the Off Season conditioning and workouts.

But the one thing I am worried about, is.... Let's say that a new CBA does not get done before March 5.  And the owners Lockout the players,  And now Stafford can not have any contact with the Team, Trainers, Coaches, Team Doctors.  This means that for the rest of March, April, and May, Stafford will have to Rehab the Shoulder, on his own.

I'm Glad Matt got the Surgery, I'm Confident that he will come back Stronger and Ready next year.  I just don't get why they did it now, as opposed to earlier.

Pride Of Detroit This Is OUR SUPERBOWL! (for this year at least)

Images_medium

via t3.gstatic.com

This is our BIGGEST game of the Year, a chance to finish in 3rd Place in the NFC North.  And put our Foot on Minnesota's Throat and Stomp them into the Cellar.

Records aside, Injuries aside, Differences in opinion regarding this Team aside.  The Lions are on a 3 game winning streak.  And have the chance to close out this Season  going  4-0 in the last Quarter.

This season has truely been a Disaster for the Vikings (maybe Karma from the Football gods), and what a fitting end for the Lions to Put them out of their Misery.  Minnesota hasn't finished in sole posession of Last place since 1984, and I think it is about time they take a turn.

I know Minn. still needs to lose to the Eagles tonight for this senario to take place.  But with a short week, and Viking fans pretty much conceding the game tonight.  They are already talking about the possibility of going 5-11.

Pride Of Detroit Ragnar Getting Punk'd By the Fans at Ford Field!

So the Monday Night Game at Ford Field went off without a hitch.  I think our Organization showed alot of class by accommodating the Vikings the way we did.  Although, I did think the "Viking Horn" was a little bit too much.

As gracious as we were, I don't think the Vikings were Guests that I would Invite back, (till wk 17).  I hope that The Vikings are able to play their next game Vs the Bears in their home state.  In the outdoor stadium that The Gophers use.  But if not, I say we speed up the process and just have them play their Monday Night game in LA, They can play in the Rose Bowl.

I found this Video of  Ragnar,  Screaming at Lions fans to Sit Down, after the Giants scored on them.  What  a Douche!  You can also hear the fans BOOOing  everytime the Horn Sounds.   Check it out.

There is also some good Cheerleader Footage,  Never before seen on the SideLines at Ford Field.

Pride Of Detroit Anyone Goin to MNF in the D?

So ain't that a Bitch, the First NFL Football Game to be played in Ford Field on a Monday Night.  And it is the Vikings Vs. Giants.

I think we all know by now that the Vikings are Literally falling apart, and due to their Marshmallow Dome falling like a shitty souffle, their game has been moved to Ford Field tonight.

The NFL decided to Give away Free tickets to the Fans in Detroit, 25,000 of them with a 4 person max.  And people lined up all the way around Ford Field, to get them.  Here is a video of the Line, check it out, these guys are pretty funny. Warning NSFW.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fT14Ta4stYo

So My question, Is anyone going to the game tonight?  Did you wait in line to get tickets?  Are you going cause you had a ticket to yesterdays game?

If you think about it, there are like 150,000 tickets out there for this game.  60,000 from the original game, 60,000 from yesterdays game, and 25,000 from this morning.  Now I know ALL the people from the original game won't make the trip, and I know ALL of the people that went to yesterdays game won't be coming back for tonights game. But I would Imagine that alot of them may have given their ticket stubs to friend who will.

Add in the fact that the whole event is going to be general admission and what started out to be a really cool Idea, has the potential to go Mad house Crazy.  I Hope Nothing goes wrong tonight at Ford Field,  Lemme Know if anyone is going down to the game. It would be cool if you Snapped some Pictures.  It could be a very memorable Night.

Myself, I'll be watching the game on NFL network, at 9pm PST.   MNF DOUBLE HEADER!!!!!

Pride Of Detroit The Competition Committee.

Why is the President of the Atlanta Falcons, the Vice-Chairman of the competition Committee?

I just watched NFL Total Access on NFL Network, and while explaining the call on the Suh hit.  The question was raised by the host. "Will the NFL ever look to review penalties?"

Here is that Mother Fuckers answer. (paraphrased)

"We don't ever want to put our officials in a position where one has the benefit of Replay to overturn the call of the other official who made the call in real time."     He Actually Fucking Said That.....!!!!!!!!

What is the point of having Replay at all then, If you don't ever want the Replay official to be right.

I gotta believe the NFL is doing this with the "calls" this year, to prove a point to the Players, in a CBA year.  And because our owner is sooo Inactive with the day to day operations of the NFL we are catching the short end of the stick.  Have you seen any egregious calls against the Falcons this year.?.?.?.?.?.?

Fuck the NFL, and Fuck "this old boys club"

I'm READY for a LOCKOUT!

And just to stake my claim,  I'm In the Players corner on this one.  Fuck you Goodell.  Go Ahead, Fuck with this sport. And you will end up like the NBA, the NHL, Or Boxing!!!!!!

Pride Of Detroit Hey Drew... Ya wanna 2nd Contract?

Alright... I'll admit, I'm not drinking Honolulu Blue Kool-Aid anymore. I've Switched to the Blue Raspberry 4 Lokos

What if Shaun Hill was the "Leader" that Corey Williams and Chris Houston were calling out?  This "Broken Index Finger" came out of Nowhere.  I know the Offensive production decreased in the 2nd half of last weeks game.  But it did not look like Hill was playing with a Broken Index Finger!

What if Hill is the one who has lost the team, A couple of Defensive players had to be the ones to call him on it, because, our Offense, as a whole is Unified.  But If Shaun is the one that can't Lead the Team....  Then he has to go.

Schwartz notices this, and places Hill on IR with a phantom broken Index finger.

Stanton is pretty much Hamburger to this team right now, (cheap Meat)

But if, Drew can come in and win 2 home games against the Bears and Pack.  Then take that momentum and turn it into a Road win against the Bucs,  He may just be more valuable to this team than Hill.

Then we can trade Hill and his extension back to SF for a 3rd rounder.

(I have been drinking 12% Blue Malt Beverage)

Pride Of Detroit Mike Shanahan (is a 16 year old girl)

If you haven't seen this yet, you need to watch it. Absolutely Classic. I have to say, As a Lions Fan, I love the fact that we have had Washington's # 2 years in a row. And It is Icing on the Cake, that losing to the Lions Leads to the Eventual Meltdown of their season.  With that said, Enjoy the Show!

And Bring on the Jets, 2 losses in a row, to NFC North Teams. Could put that Jet into a Flat Spin, just ask Mavrick!

Pride Of Detroit Why I think we will SEE #9 on the Field Vs. the Giants

There has been alot of discussion on whether or not Stafford will play this week against the Giants.

I have made a couple comments in the last day or two, stating how people will be suprised when #9 comes out of the tunnel in NY dressed and ready to play. (yeah joshsun, I saw that you took note...)

Let me take this opportunity to explain the reasoning behind this.

We all know that Schwartz fancies himself as a Mysterious Injury Ninja. And the Giants have taken the bait, hook line and sinker, Tuck was quoted this week saying that they have prepared for Hill, Exclusively and that they expect him to start. BUT, Stafford is listed as "Questionable" this week, not "Doubtful", not "Out", like previous weeks, but "Questionable".

The way Injury reports are reported, players are listed as follows.

Probable = 75% chance to play

Questionable = 50% chance to play

Doubtful = 25% chance to play

Out = 0% chance to play

Now let's look at Schwartz's track record with the Injury report so far this year.  I will list the players listed as "Questionable"  (50%) each week so far, and whether or not they actually played.

(I couldn't find a Injury report for week one, just an Inactive list. so I did not include the fist game.)

WEEK 2 VS. PHI.

Delmas--> Played

Levy--> Did not Play

WEEK 3 VS. MINN.

Levy--> Played

L. Johnson--> Did not Play

Avril--> Played

Peterman--> Played

WEEK 4 VS. GB.

Sammie Hill--> Played

Jahvid "the" Best--> Played

WEEK 5 VS. STL.

Best--> Played

Scheffler--> Played

C.C. Brown--> Played

So in "Schwartz Speak".... Questionable on the Injury report, means you got an 82% chance of Playing, not 50%.

And I believe this is the culmination of his master plan in regards to the Stafford Injury.

I'm Not scared of the Giants DLine, they looked good against the Bears, but so did we. They pulled out a close win over Chicago, AND WE DID AS WELL.

It took Shaun Hill the Philly game, and the Minn game to get this offense clicking on all cylinders against GB and STL. Stafford had it Purring like a '67 Mustang in the first half of the Chicago game. I want to thank Shaun for the win against STL, and the job he has done this year. He has earned the admiration of the fans as a Solid #2. and a pair of HeadPhones, have a seat bud.

Get your #9 jerseys pressed and ready Gentlemen, cause I'm Puttin' Stafford In the Game!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fm-nEi-unSQ&feature=grec_index

(P.S. Calvin is also listed as "Questionable")

Pride Of Detroit Don't run out and spend all your $$$ on Lion's Gear... Yet!

20101010192703_2010-1010-dm-lions15_medium

via multimedia.detnews.com

Alright, I admit, I went with the "Sensational" Headline.

I know we are all Stoked for the Future of this team. And after this weekend I was hopeing to Add a #90 SUH Jersey to my Collection ( #9, #49, #81).  But then I saw this article and now I think I'm gonna wait.

http://views.washingtonpost.com/theleague/nflnewsfeed/2010/10/nike-to-become-nfls-official-uniform-maker.html

After a Decade long relationship with Reebok, the NFL is jumping ship and Nike is taking over all Jerseys and On-Field Gear for all 32 NFL teams. In addition, New Era, the same company that does MLB hats. Is taking over all On-Field head gear.

Is this a ploy by the NFL to sell more Merch to their fans, Probably. But I am a Sucker for "Officially Licensed" Gear. We will have to wait and see how the pricing goes, but provided it is comparable to the Reebok stuff I kinda like this move.

What do you guys think, I know It's gonna be a year. But I already can't wait to get my #90 Nike Pro-Combat Lions Jersey.
