Do we need a closer?
is this an overreaction? of course it is! but since someone else put it in ink, here ya go!
any advice for an out of towner?
let me apologize in advance for trolling your site. I am a fan of the Rangers and my crew and i are planning a weekend trip to check out the satuday and sunday games of labor day weekend against said texas rangers. Of course we plan on walking around yalls new park and seeing the mall of america and such, i also hear the state fair is in town, so we will most likley compare ya'lls(told u i was a texan!) fair to ours. Any suggestions on stuff i have to check out while in your fair burg? eateries? golf courses close to bloomington(im not rich)? night life? any and all suggestions are appreciated. I will likely be wearing an authintic rangers white home jersey that reads Ryan with the #37 on the back. i should be easy to spot on satuday on the thirdbase side or in the centerfield on sunday. I will say that i pull for the twins to win not only win the division, but for this to be an ALCS preview, Joe is a beast! will likely finish in top three for MVP this year with Cano and Hammy. Really looking forward to this.
thanks and sorry again,
Kelly
Planning a trip to target field for labor day weekend
So i finally convinced a couple of my buddies to go on this road trip to support the Rangers on a roadtrip to another teams ballpark. I have been cooking this idea up for a couple of seasons and decided early on this season to make it a visit to the twins brand new ballpark(target field) down the strech(sept. 3-4) against what could be another division leading ballclub. compound this by the fact that we could have a fight for some sort of a favorable match-ups in the playoffs and maybe even a potential ALCS preview, it shaps up as interesting theater all around. Couple of questions for those who care to respond. Contemplating stopping in KC to see Tigers/Royals game pending pitching match-up(Grienke-Verlander anyone?), Is it worth it without the pitching matchup to stop off in KC in the middle of an 14 hour drive just to mark off a ballpark of the list of those visited? Anyone have any clue of something i should put on my agenda of things to do in the great white north? i know there is the mall of america, but what else? both games that weekend are day games. Plan on taking the cam of course to try and get some photos of this ballpark, any special request? flying the lonestar on sunday after taking the series maybe? alah that crew that did such a thing on the green monster in fenway? This is kind of a big deal to me as i have anticipated doing something like this for some time. Any suggestions or comments on how to make this trip get more awesomer will be appreciated.
No mas Lima time
R.I.P. Jose Lima, sorry if this was covered in the GDT. im sure it was, as i heard from josh lewin myself.
what to do with ian when he comes back.
sorry if this has been beaten to death already in the spring, but i need to know where is kins' going to bat in this line-upwhen he is healthy? also, what will be the effect on his numbers and transversly the rangers line-up? as a whole. I will say that it looks like the best spot is 6th, but is that right? Ian Kinsler is in our 6 hole?(insert joke here) someone else suggested 2nd, but wont FOTF go postal if not only his position in the field, but his spot in the order as well? does Ronnie have the guts to do that? scrap 'em a rail and lets see!!
BTB community projections: Quaterbacks
Seen something along these lines put together over at http://www.lonestarball.com/ and thought maybe we could apply it over here to the Boyz. I say lets do likely starters at skill position on offense and throw out a stat line prediction in a generally similar format.Lets start at the top with Romo.Make his format be-
QB rating/Comp %/P. yrds/TD-Int
I'll go first.
94.3/66%/3,965yrds/31-14
Dont even want to look at a kitna line prediction as any significant PT would mean bad things for the boyz. Im interested to see what everyone else thinks, so post predictions in the comments and maybe if there is enough interest, we could post one for other players. link for career stats you say? statshttp://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6624/career;_ylt=Ai2kKf_M9FuIukskrtVrW_r.uLYF
good way to eliminate the comp in your fantasy football league...
Hi,
The commissioner (BTBGrizz) of league "Blogging The Boys" has decided
to remove your team from the league.
Thanks,

pat burrell anyone? oh wait....
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3811501
would have loved his bat in there behind hambone, oh well. hammy, nelson and murphy? persnally think byrd migt get traded, who else can we plug in the outfield? can this be a successful off season if we dont make any more moves? is turnbow/maddux the answer we to all of our pitching woes? us this 75 words yet? yet? yet? yet? yet? yet?
Red sox sign a catcher
how does this affect our potential starting catcher this year?
per ESPN and Ed werder: Adam Jones fully reinstated
No link to post since i actually learned of this simply watching the morning edition of SC live on ESPN. Roger felt obligated to give the Boys some sort of notice since rosters will soon need to be down to 53. Community contributions and keeping his nose clean supposedly contributed to the reinstatement. Now the Cowboys can move forward with the idea of starting T-new on the left side and Pac man on the right when everyone is healthy. All i can say is wow, what a backfield.
Obama/Biden ticket it is....
http://news.yahoo.com/story//ap/veepstakes
CNN is covering the story as well on the tube.... seems to balance the ticket somewhat providing in areas Obama maybe lacking in terms of foreign policy experience as well as tenure in in the senate. If he keeps from sticking his foot in his mouth, he may be able to gain some of those moderate democrates that perhaps are on the fence. I like biden, im not sure i want him as being a lunatic away from being leader of the freeworld, but present me with a better option i say.

Cowboys interested in Simms as backup?
So Ed Werder of ,ESPN fame, is reporting on the late sportscenter that the Boys might be interested in Chris Simms as a back up alternative if the Buc's back off their asking price of a 4th round pick in exchange. So my questions are as follows....
-is Brad Johnson still alive and with us?
-Chris or Brad as a back-up?
We may have super bowl dreams, but the reality is we are one blind side sack away from having to load up on the back of either an old man who belongs in bingo parlor or the young fella who has more buisness calling bingo than playing in the NFL.

Looks like we wont be blowing the Dolphins away with any trade offers....
Dolphins just signed up Jake Long almost a week before the draft. Does this change much? says that Miami liked the idea of making sure the #1 was hemmed up and in camp on time. Ronnie Brown comes back healthy? John beck turns out to be the real deal? maybe Parcells is got a plan to make another move with Jason Taylor to get another first day type pick? Interesting dynamic having the first pick set in stone a week before the actual draft. St. louis, you are on the clock!!
mel kiper makes it official....
mock draft season has started.
Looks like he has the cowboys going offense, and more precisely big 10 offense. mario mannigham with the browns pick and rashard mendenhall with our own. I am all for us picking either one of these guys with one of our picks, but it just seems like if the good 'ol best available players happens to be either an interior lineman or defensive back, its gonna be hard to take two offensive players right out the chute. Like i already implied, i like both of his picks for us as we need to get younger at the WR position and need more depth at the RB position. http://sports-ak.espn.go.com/nfl/dra...
Our RB quandry...
could anyone clear up our actual situation as far marion and jones contractual situation?
Sorry, but here is a FF post
sorry for posting here guys, but i just want to make it known that either Carson Palmer or D-Mcnabb are available for trade in our league. I wont call teams out, but if u have a fella as your starting Qb that is on IR or named Jay... u need to offer me a decent RB or WR. Also willing to package J. Jones if it will push a deal over the top.
FF draft about a week out....
for those who signed up for our yahoo league, just a reminder that we are drafting on sunday, august 26 at 930CDT. its an online draft, so hopefully every one will be able to participate. If for some reason you cant make the live draft, be sure to pre set your rankings so that your team will look something like you want it to. furthermore, its not a bad idea to run over to the home page and make sure your system jives with yahoo's draft scheme. a role call might be in order as well, just to make sure everyone has there mind in the right spot....
The commish.
who are these guys??
Since trading Lofton seems like a fore-gone conclusion, i took a peek at the indians board to see what the hype is like over there. I keep hearing names like Sowers, Crowe, Gutz, and Fransico... any info on these guys? help me out with some numbers and projections if u can.
Nice win today... all extra base hits for Tex since he came back? just dump some money on him and also asure him we are doing the same with carlos zambrano in the offseason.
could we kill two birds with one stone....
What if the Rangers offered a combo of Mark Teixeria and either Gagne/Otsuka? they are obviously sellers this season and could bolster our pen as well as lineup. Tex is under contract for at least one more season following 07 as would Otsuka. Gagne would only be a true rental and be able to walk at the end of the season(although as a Type A free agent might net u Two 1st round picks), but has the potential to sub-plant jones in a closing role. Just interested to see what u guys think. whould u do it? who would u be willing to part with versues what would it take to get it done?

D. Mason..... would ya?
Just checking out an article about the top 20 FA's when i came across Desmond Mason ( http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/0706/gallery.nba.free.agents/content.11.ht ml). It does list the Mavs as possible suitors, it also makes mention of is shooting skill(or lack there of). I could have only seen us making a run at him with our MLE if we either didnt already have a greg Buckner or hadnt re-signed Stack. He is the slasher that we need as well as being an active defender, but i would only be in favor of making a run at him should we Deal Buckner as a throw in another trade that could be brewing.
wheels off danny wheeler
it was already know, but i wanted to coin the name. lets trade them Aki for berkman since they obviously need a closer. now lets blow it in the 10th rangers!!! kinsler is a beast, that is all.
Another waste of a diary...
Seems to be the consenus 'round here that Tex is either gonna get traded or should be traded. Not real sure where i sit on this one, but since Boras seems intent on gettin Tex to the free agent market, i guess i would be for getting a return for the one time 5th overall(?) pick made good. My question is a familar one... what to expect in return? Could a packege of the likes of Aki/Gagne and Tex not get a guy like andrew miller back from the Tigers? is this a pipe dream? is there really an offer that the dodgers could put together that would trump Miller? Are the Tigers that hard up for bullpen help/another bat? If the rangers can string together Miller, McCarthey, and Hurley in a rotation.... wouldnt that be worth cashing in your two most valuable tading chips?? is anyone else tired of having nothing much to talk about other than prospects and trades involving one of our better hitters?
gilbert not happy???
just read on the crawl on the bottom of espn while watching a K-1 tourny that Gilbert Areanas says he will opt out of his contract after this season and become a free agent. To me this indicates he is either unhappy or wanting a raise. if he is indeed unhappy and needs a change of scenery, why not Dallas? Trade checke says that a JET/Bucnker for Gilber trade works with the salary cap. i think it does a couple things for both sides and really gives us that scoring guard that we need. Is gilebert really a shotting guard or are we gonna have ourselves the same player as JET but 2 inches taller? help me out, is this all way to far fetched?
Briggs for McNabb?
Its just a rumor as of yet, but yahoo has posed the question of should the Eagles skip out on the Qb shuffle by trading away it's franchises face. With Briggs already stating that he will not play again for the bears as well as the Iggles drafting(reaching) the guy they wanted in the second round, it could be be a match. I cant say i would miss playin the Mcnabbster as much as twice a year, but how good would the bears become with Big D at the helm?
Am i screwed?
I have a fantasy rotation that includes Millwood, Padilla, and McCarthy. Shouldnt i just pick up Robinson and mail it in? hell, im sure wright is availableas well. so far i have actually been pleasently surprised, but i just can not be encouraged with having three rangers in my starting rotation. sorry if my fake team post has offended anybody, btw.
im not a big fan of trading jones or anything...
Jones contract is up at the end of this season, and he doesnt display the most unique atheltic abilities in the NFL if u know what i mean(how hard is it to find a fast-sleek type runner for a two-down role?) put off contract details untill barber comes up and likely keep the better back in the process. All this while improving the odds on hitting first day draft picks. i would be satisfied with drafting a change of pace guy like booker or walker. DO that while also getting a guy like ben grubbs to replace leonard davis when he replaces flozell adams and u have settled your running game issues for years to come with that line intact and those young runners. the best part of all of this is that u still have a first day pick in either the first or second round. Take advantage of a deep draft at reciever? Help at free saftey? maybe another premium DL prospect? that is what i like about this time of year, its what i equate to that spring training feel in baseball.
on a side note, i would like ti do a lil bragging. At 9:24 am on saturday march the 10th, my daughter was born into this world at @8lbs. 5oz.
The whale killers big write up...
Always good to see some young up and comers with-in the ranks. Man, between harris, howard, and now pops... we seem to have a young wave of talent ready to take over for the stackhouses and terry's of our world. seems that pops is strutting his stuff on a national level these daze....
Steve Kerr gives Howard some love.....
nice to see a national media figure out there stumping for one of our guys. I have never much cared for Kerr's commentary, but i had to give this a read. Nothing new in the article to those that are mav's fans and watch josh on a regular basis, just reinforces what WE already know to those who dont. However(did i sound like stephen A. there?), it does make mention of how deep the west is in athletic/top-level talent at the forward postion.
back up QB?
What about Tommy Maddox? Is he so washed up that he couldnt hold a clipboard and be ready to hopefully maintain some order should his services be required? I remember the pokes workin him out in early december, i would personally be in favor of cutting ties with bledsoe and giving ol tommy a look. He has been around long enuff to have some savvy, and M.O. in his hey-day seemed to be a lot like Romo's is now... maybe not the strongest arm or fleetest of foot, but nimble enuff to move around outta the way as well as generally making the best choice in most situations. Of course most know of his D/FW roots(I actually went to Hurst Junior High when he went to L.D Bell in Hurst). Im guessing he would come cheap and probably jump at the opp. to have a go round with the home town team. All this being said, is he worthy of being a back up QB in the NFL anymore?
