Well...they were right last year.
Commented on Football Outsiders includes 49ers among NFC "fallers" on Jul 21 2014, 4:53p
It's forward-looking. 2014 season hasn't even started yet and it's billed '15.
Commented on Legion of Boom to be featured on Madden 15 welcome screen on Jul 21 2014, 1:39p
Well...in Seattle we still talk about Hilton's performance from time to time, too. He really cracked open a big one on us, it was impressive.

One thing I'll concede is no one has any reason to accuse Field Gulls of having any tact.
Commented on Russell Wilson is better, part III: I sack Newton on Jul 20 2014, 9:56p - 1 reply
I don't think it was illegal during his career.
Commented on NFL to crack down on illegal contact and defensive holding on Jul 20 2014, 8:28p - 1 reply
Good point. It hadn't dawned on me that could be one reason why Luck throws more interceptions. Now I'm rethinking its value.
Commented on NFL to crack down on illegal contact and defensive holding on Jul 20 2014, 8:24p
I had no idea. Thanks for pointing that out.
Commented on NFL to inform, discourage underclassmen: What it means on Jul 20 2014, 4:06p
Emphasis means rules aren't changing, so a lot of what Seattle does better than the rest of the league will remain in play.
Commented on NFL to crack down on illegal contact and defensive holding on Jul 19 2014, 4:33p - 2 replies
Whoops, sorry, wrong forum.
Commented on NFL to crack down on illegal contact and defensive holding on Jul 19 2014, 4:26p
Yep 0-16 for Seahawks. Holding was the only thing they did well.

Weird that Boomer would be the third Bengals QB mentioned here.

Just Coughlin and the Giants. I don't think either teams were that good. Also, the 2012 Ravens were pretty lucky to get past you & Denver.

Like the barely negative grading for throws between the numbers when the traditional stats were a steaming cup of hot saki. For example.
Commented on Reacting to Russell Wilson's Pro Football Focus grading on Jul 18 2014, 12:27a
He was only a rookie, but in 2012's training camp I found his cadence to be really awkward and not distinct enough.

Oh yeah, Bud's fairly decent, for a crisp lager (made for taking the edge off the summer heat). Many lagers with better reputations aren't nearly as crisp.

2 can be chalked up to luck.

Fair point.

I didn't like it either, but I realized he was bound & determined to stay in the AFC. He knew his opponents, and it was for family.

Christian Ponder was drafted with the twelfth overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. He has been licking carpet for 3 hours and still is not a lesbian.

I appreciated how the officials generally let them play, and tried not to become a part of the outcome.

To me, when someone says a QB could be great if they had good pass protection, that's kind of like saying they could be great at their job if they didn't have to do their job.

Exactly.

Not a problem for me, I don't drink Guinness for the alcohol.

I could come up with a snarky response, but that was his appeal to the officials that a holding infraction had occurred on the 4th down play that decided SB47.

I definitely didn't think you were arguing that Foles is a bad QB. You're making some valid points.

I'm not sure what you're saying, exactly.

Thx. Yep, Ben was incredible at extending plays. I don't know how unique and new it was when he started it -- the planned extended play routes I mean

Ah, yep, I just made this point above but hadn't read all the way down. You beat me to it.
Commented on Lovie Smith on why he likes the 4-3 defense on Jul 15 2014, 8:21p
Yep, modern fronts are defined by gap concepts, not linemen count. As Greg Cosell has stressed so many times.
Commented on Lovie Smith on why he likes the 4-3 defense on Jul 15 2014, 8:20p
Seems to me, the philosophy and scheme are based on specialization, versatility is a hedging/mitigating thing.

The fact that this ate away at your conscience for 10 hours made my day.

Yep, running & defense factors here, you're right.
Commented on Russell Wilson is better, part II: The younger half of the NFC East on Jul 15 2014, 6:36p
Luck is lethal. He can just be lethal, in a way that I don't know how an otherwise capable QB can achieve.
Commented on Russell Wilson is better, part II: The younger half of the NFC East on Jul 15 2014, 3:57p - 2 replies
I think height factors there. The center gravity, the tight "turn radius." He can't do it without the smarts; he's got a perfect, on-the-fly handle on the geometry of escape, but the height factors.

Jason Peters and Evan Mathis are very highly regarded. Beyond that I didn't watch enough Eagles games to know.

I used to think so, but then Pete Carroll showed up.

Being the last man standing doesn't always mean very much in terms of who's good or not.
Commented on NFL Head Coach Power Rankings: Pete Carroll manages to make it into the top 10 on Jul 15 2014, 1:50p
But then where does the good coaching go when it's not January of 2008 or 2012?

Great point. end-of-half on offense gets crazy.

The Andrew Luck article will be a lot of fun, though.
