Raise a glass, men.... to Josh Scobee.

In a season with very many injuries and very few bright spots, Josh Scobee is the lone bright spot. Whether it be four 50+ field-goals( in all six over 45 ), or bringing down the kick returner because noone else would. The more I watch Scobee play, the more I think that he is the only Jaguar with his head on straight. Not to mention the fact that if it were not for the foot of ‘said player’, Jacksonville’s record would be 1 and 7. Noone can argue against that. He is our most valuable player. So, if you are drinking yourself into a stupor after this most embarrassing loss, raise a glass to Mr. Scobee: To your health, sir. And a well deserved thanks from all Jaguar fans. To Josh. (all say, "hear, hear"!)

Hope you had a happy birthday, 'Big Rich'.

Hey everybody,

At the Jag game, they put it on the scoreboard that it was Richard Collier's birthday. I don't know if you were at home or in the stadium, behind the glass or with Mr. Weaver, but the players wished you a happy birthday, Rich. You're obviously on their minds as they go through their daily routines and they said they miss you. I don't know if you read what we write here on BCC, but we wish you all the best, man. Hope it was a good one.

I love the Flyovers. I am proud to be an American.

I was born in this country. Louisiana to be exact. Many members of my family have fought for the freedoms we have, as I am sure your families have, aswell. The flags with bronze stars sent home, the silent stares when you ask them about their experiences and the tears when they remember the fallen. My great uncle, Guy, was on the West Virginia when it went down in Pearl Harbor. He survived while many, many more died. I only heard him speak of the war once and I will never forget his words. I think of them often.

At the games when they sing the National Anthem and the flyover follows, I get caught up in that moment. I think about the lives of those who died for MY freedom. Though, some say it is a battle cry and a warlike anthem that should be replaced, I am not ashamed to say that I have been known to weep when I hear it.

Knowing that there are many veterans and servicemen and women in the Jacksonville area, I would like to sincerely thank all of you for serving my country. While we sleep ..... you are there. And as we wake, work, play and live.... you are there. I cannot say it enough.

"Following the National Anthem, there will be a Heritage Flyover. The USAF Heritage Flight program was established in 1997 to commemorate the Air Force's 50th Anniversary. The flight's mission is to safely and proudly display the evolution of the U.S. Air Force airpower and to support the Air Force's recruiting and retention efforts. The Heritage Flyover will include a F-16 Viper piloted by Major George "Dog" Clifford from Shaw AFB, SC a F-15C Eagle piloted by Captain Sam "NUKE" Joplin from Eglin AFB, FL and a P-51 Mustang, which was flown during WWII and Korea, piloted by CAPT Dale "Snort" Snodgrass, USN(ret) from St. Augustine, FL. Think about it when those planes fly overhead today. Think about the men who flew them in WWII. Think about those who fly them now. You are free because they fly and because they stand for you.

There was a guy who use to write informative articles on this site. His column kept everybody up to speed on injuries, the scoop on hot topics and he commented with facts to put us in our place. I was very excited when we signed Jerry Porter. I had been saying since last year that we should get him, but not to keep our bench polished with his butt. The guy has ' mad ' skills. Think about the fact that had he been playing, a couple of passes that will go unspecified, would have been completed and added 6 points to our scores.... game changers. 2-0 or 0-2, it's a pretty big difference. Anyway, does anybody know whether this guy is suiting up or not.

With Rivers signing for as much as he did, the Jaguars are going to have to fork over the dough. ($18 million up front.) Or do they? Just a thought , .... what if we contacted Jerry Jones, Mr. Moneybags in Dallas, and offered him a trade. He gets Derrick Harvey, who he can pay whatever he wants, and Mike Peterson, who's on the last year of his contract and wants more money. We get DeMarcus Ware, who is seasoned and still young enough to kill QBs for a long time for us.

He plays OLB in a 3 x 4, we could make him a DE in a 4 x 3. Our depth at linebacker is huge and we didn't skip a beat with Mike out last year. Plus without paying Harvey or Mike the extra 'payolla', we would have enough to give MJD a well deserved extension and everybody is happy.

With the pre-season starting and many teams to cover,....(hint, Jaguars, hint) what is going on with their video stories. Video 1, Farve. Video2, Farve. Videos 3, 5 & 8, all FARVE. Oh and video 7, just to be different, 'T.O. just "chillin"'. Dude did they fire all of their good staff. I don't even want to go there or ESPN in the afternoon after work anymore 'cause it's all Farve, Farve, Farve......and on. And when this story is over, their next story is probably gonna' be on how they miss Brett.

Is anyone else tired of this crap?

I think I speak for most of the Jaguar nation when I say getting Harvey and then getting Groves too, was an exciting turn of events. Both of them have extreme potential. But one of them is in camp and according to JDR is more than living up to the expectations. At the scrimmage Groves was ferocious. Thank God they weren't allowed to hit the QBs. He is ahead of the curve and gaining speed. Harvey is still in the starting blocks, although he is studying his playbook. Hopefully, he will turn out to be worth the wait. One is trying to get what he thinks he's worth, the other is proving what he is worth with every snap.

It’s a Lack of Respect

The Jacksonville Jaguars have had one of the best professional franchises of any sport over the past few years. This year it was ranked 9th out of 122 professional sports franchises by ESPN the magazine. Yet our team and our fans have to put up with the talk: too small a market, not elite yet, not enough pro bowl material....etc. And even ESPN and other networks wouldn’t give us air-time if our hair was on fire. I am here to ask,"Why?".

Over the past 3 years there have been 6 competitors in the Superbowl. The Jaguars have played 5 of those teams in that 3 year span, and soundly defeated 4 of them. The Giants brought the NFL’s leading rusher to town only to see him gain 27 yards and fall short of the Jags by16 points. Seattle lost by12. And Pittsburgh has lost to Jacksonville 4 times in that span.( and they are not even in our division) One of those victories was the 2nd highest rated cable broadcast ever. Oh and I must brag on Maurice Jones Drew and Fred Taylor for having 297 yards rushing on 24 carries against that years Superbowl Champion Colts defense in route to a 27 point victory.

But how is it that a team that has proven itself time and time again cannot seem to get the time of day from any sports media? It’s the Lombardi Trophy. It’s the rings. It’s 60 minutes of greatness that lasts a lifetime. We must take the respect that they will not give. On that stage, the Superbowl, we must take it from them. So, all you fans.... all you Jaguars....I hope you are hearing me when I say the Superbowl is there for the taking. How bad do you want it? Team, you are great enough, but are you hungry enough. Fans, are you dedicated enough to be there to cheer them on? Then now is the time. Do you believe?
