Fake Teams What do you guys think of this trade?

Regular 5x5 roto league, 12 teams. I'm in the middle of the pack, but second to 8th place are pretty close,i kinda got burned for choosing but Uggla and Gonzalez.

I got offered Colby Rasmus and Coco Crisp by the current league leader for Carlos Gonzalez, i need steals, Carlos is doing better but i think Rasmus might give me the same production, or at least same homers higher average and runs, and i get Coco's steals.

Athletics Nation Troy Glaus

I just read he might be out for the whole season, and that he will be a free agent.

Do you think if we can't find a third baseman in a trade that the team should give him a 1 year contract? He is injury prone, but he is about average defensively and a great batter, and he probably won't be getting much money after losing the whole season.

He can be the perfect stop gap, while we keep looking.

what do you think guys?

Athletics Nation San Francisco shopping Cain?

There are lots of rumors going around, about San Francisco looking for a bat, and shopping Cain, who is still under control for 3 years.

Do you think we should trade Holliday for him?, sure its not the third baseman or SS of the future, but is an ace or number 2 pitcher for 3 more years, whcih could help us maybe trade one of our pitchers for the batting help.

Is Cain enough or can we ask for a low level prospec too?

Fake Teams Trade update

Same league, like i said before 12 teams, 5 x 5, only doing well on Stolen Bases and Saves, need help especially at catcher, i had Ivan Rodriguez and just picked up Varitek, other catchers on the pool Barajas, Buck, and Suzuki who was just released and is stil on waivers.

I'm being offered now by the first place team, Greinke plus Martin for Cabrera.  He also has Asdrubal Cabrera, Mccann, Kendry Morales,  Hanley, whom he won't trade, Markakis, Lind,  Justin Upton , Choo,  Beltran,  Blalock, Derek Lee,  Volstad, Wandy, Shields, Felix, and Lackey.

Fake Teams trade

My team pretty much sucks, i need a catcher, and improving starting pitcher among other things.

I'm in 9rh place  in a 12 teams standard roto league, first place team has Martin and Mccann. I was trying to find a match for Mccann but couldn't really find anything, he needs saves, but i have Jenks, Ziegler and Sherril, i did have Rivera, but i traded him plus Bonifacio for Phillips. He offered me this morning  Martin plus Wandy Rodriguez for Miguel Cabrera.

I dismiss it right away, but i wonder was that a good enough return?

would you prefer Mccann instead of Martin?

Athletics Nation Awful article in La Verdad about Carlos Gonzalez

La verdad is one of the local newspaper in my city, it was the one with the article that was posted here about the Marabino patrolcraft.

Well the thing is that the author said, that the A's might trade Gonzalez for either pitching, because they need to catch up with the Angels, or for Holliday.

Doesn't this guy know that the A's have the best starting ERA in the major leagues. Also that Holliday is just an average hitter outside of Coors, and the Coliseum is a pitcher's park in a league that has better pitching?

Awful sportswriting is a worldwide thing.

Athletics Nation Can Stewart go to the Mets?

Beltran is injured, this open possibilities. I think they might want Dye, problem is many teams want Dye, and might get into a bidding war.
Beane has been a little too quiet, but Stewart unprobable terrific season so far might give us the trade chip we need.

Humber or Pelfrey?, who else is on the system who can be attractive for us?

Minor League Ball Schilling No Hitter

Right now 9 inning, against the A's, is not a perfect game because of Lugo's error.

Minor League Ball What should the Brewers do?

There is an article today at hardball times, talking about the Braun situation.

His bat is major league ready and he should be in the big leagues now, more even with the crappy combo they have at third base right now.

The thing is, his probably not up now because of service time, they are a small market organization and want to make the most of it.

But i'm thinking, they do have a huge chance to win this season, what if, instead of calling up Braun and Gallardo, why don't they trade them for Miguel Cabrera, they would have arguably the best lineup on the National League, the problem there is a really big chance he would be a half a season rental.

Fake Teams Should i trade Arod

5x5 league, with OBP instead of average, 16 people, the thing is i only had one second baseman, Howie Kendrick, who is injured, and i picked Ryan Theriot from the waiver wire, but the guy isn't that good and he doesn't play every day.

As we all know, Arod won't hit like that all year long, and there are several second baseman and third baseman, who had slow starts, i think i could trade him for 2 guys, maybe 3, these are my options, if i only have to drop 1 it would be Theriot, if i have to drop 2, they would be Theriot and Linebrink:

Arod for Atkins and Lugo or B Phillips, the thing is this the guy who won the league last year and probably the smartest owner.

Arod for Chipper or Zimmerman, Castillo and Looper

Arod for Upton and Rolen

Now there is this guy who has both Utley and Weeks, i think that maybe i can get both and the trade one for a third baseman, or one of them and Chavez.

One more thing about the league i just did 2 trades, there was a guy desperate for a closer, who offered me Carlos Delgado for Gagne, the thing is that i only have Putz and Frasor, but lucky there a guy was offering me Mariano for CC, so i approved both trades, the only problem is that CC was my top K's guy, so i dropped Jonny Gomes, and got Jason Hirsh from Free Agency.

Athletics Nation Angels signs Matthews Jr.

From Mlb.com: "The Angels landed a centerpiece for their holiday table with the addition of free agent Gary Matthews Jr. on Wednesday.

Matthews agreed to a five-year, $50 million deal that includes a partial no-trade clause, according to an industry source. The deal is pending a physical. "

I knew the Angels would do something stupid like signing someone who just had a carreer year, which was nowhere near his regular season numbers, sure he is a great defender, and will probably be good this year, but he'll decline fast.

Now with this and all the other crazy signings, Kotsay value is through the roof, who is in centerfield in Cincinatti? Griffey?, maybe Kotsay and some mid level prospect for Dunn?

Athletics Nation Fun with David Eckstein

I don't know if you guys check fire joe morgan, i mean with that name who doesn't, they are pointing out several different articles about this year WS MVP, yeah i almost throw up when i say it.

The link is: http://firejoemorgan.blogspot.com/

But another funny thing is that i went to see the game with a couple of friends at a bar, and when they were giving him the award, one of them said, well that guy is one of the top 5 ss in the league, my other friend and i, lol, and start naming better SS, he is probably not even in the top 10: let's see: Tejada, Jeter, Reyes, Michael Young, Han Ram, Vizquel, Furcal, Crosby when he is not injured, Carlos Guillen, etc.

Athletics Nation Adam Dunn

Acoording to rotoworld: There continues to be a lot of speculation in Cincinnati that the Reds will try to trade Adam Dunn this offseason.
Reds GM Wayne Krivsky, who worked with the Twins for 11 years, wants to cut down team strikeouts, increase average and doesn't mind losing some home runs in the process. With that mindset, Dunn is definitely a good candidate to be moved. Krivsky has already traded away three of the five hitters who struck out 100 times in 2005 - Wily Mo Peña, Austin Kearns and Felipe Lopez.
Source: Cincinnati Enquirer

WE NEED HIM, he could play first base, and dh sometimes, Swisher will stay an OF.

I would be willing to trade Barton for him.

Athletics Nation Matsuza... Matzuza... Gyroball guy yeah that's it

Finally Japan top pitcher, and maybe the best pitcher not in the Major leagues, will be posted this year.

Expect a bidding war between Seattle, Yankees and Boston for the negotiating rights.

Now do you think Beane might get into the game? , we will have more money this year, this guy is major league ready, and his funky delivery and pitching movement, might make him good for 2 or 3 seasons, but also i think he might be injury prone, since he has been abused in Japan. Its been reported he has thrown 300 pitches bullpen sessions, and almost all his games have been complete games.

How much do you think a team will have to pay for the rights? and also how much will his contract be worth?.

I can't wait to see him.

Athletics Nation Piazza

If somebody goes crazy and gives Thomas, a 12 million deal for 2 years, we have to think about alternatives.

What about Piazza?, when everybody thought he was done, he came back from the death and had a good offensive season in Petco Park, hitting over 20 homers, most of them at home in the most extreme pitcher park in the league.

A con, he has never played in the american league, but i think that a veteran hitter like him won't have problems to adjust, and playing no defense will take pressure of him.

Who else do you think could be Thomas replacement? Barton?

Athletics Nation Elijah Dukes in the A's?

There is a discussion about him at minorleagueball.com , and a commenter said that he is exactly like the guys the A's usually take chances, a guy with character problems and an excellent plate discipline, i also think that he might have more power than anyone in the A's minor system.

If Payton and Kielty won't come back next year, wouldn't he make a nice 4th OF?, or maybe Bradley and he in the same team might get someone killed.

Who do you think we can trade for him? , tampa needs  pitchers but i think they would get anything to get rid of him.

Minor League Ball Edgar Oma?a

Does anyone knows anything about this Yankees relief pitcher?, When do you expect him to get to the big leagues? I think he was in the Dominican leagues for 2 years, and now finally will get to play in the US.

He is from my hometown and the cousin of a friend, and he wants to know what experts think about him.

Funny thing, his family nickname is El Machorro, which means the little lizard.
