"BCS does not apply to basketball. It's football. You can't tell me Memphis is a mid-major. You can't tell me UTEP, with its history of players, crowd attendance and NCAA Tournament berths, is a mid-major. Same for Gonzaga and St. Mary's - it doesn't apply. These are high-major programs that can play. All we can do is win games and hope others recognize. … We should pass the eye test - if anybody ever watches us." - Tim Floyd

UTEP Women's Coach Keitha Adams named CUSA coach of the year.

Congrats to Coach Adams! Also, Gloria Brown was named Sixth player of the year. Brown averaged 11.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, and led the conference with 2.9 blocks a game in only 20 minutes of action each night. Brown was also named First team all-conference and all defense. Congratulations to Gloria as well as UTEP's Kayla Thornton, who was named to the Second all-conference team.

4-Star BBall recruit Winston Shepard looking for UTEP followers!

It seems he has narrowed down his list to UNM, SDSU, and UTEP. He wants to hear from the fans of the schools, so help out UTEP and follow him! Landing Shepard would be a huge win for the Miners.

Pitt and Syracuse to the ACC

This is a done deal. This probably propels the ACC to the top in Basketball. Also, Pitt isnt a bad Football addition. TCU might want to try and get out of their BE commitment now too. I have a feeling Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will leave for the Pac-12. Possibly followed by Texas and Texas Tech. I think this would leave Missouri looking for a spot in the Big 10. A&M will go to the SEC and the Big XII will be done. There has also been some speculation about WVU going to the SEC as well. The BE would be in tatters too. This could potentially have a huge impact on UTEP. The question is will the Big XII try and pick up some new members. or will they just dissolve? Same with the Big East.

The Bracket Matrix - Average bracketology placement.

This lists an average of over 50 brackets. This is great because it gives a broader scope of where people think UTEP is. UTEP is int the first four out along with UAB. That means that we could possibly obtain an at large if we win out and do well in the tourney. With the bubble being so "weak" this year, we might be able to sneak in, even with our lack of quality wins.

CTF on CUSA, UTEP, and the NCAA Tourney.

Great article on what CTF thinks about CUSA, and how good he thinks UTEP is.

I know it's not a very reliable source, but it could be true, and if it is, it is huge news.

UTEP 2011? CJ Cooper

I was searching twitter, and I found out that according to CJ Cooper (a.k.a Mr. Clutch), he recieved a phone call from Tim Floyd that made his day, and was then offered a schollie. Cooper is projected as the 3rd best PG in California. This is good news if we can sign him.

2011? Tim Floyd has got it covered.

Looks like Tim Floyd has already got his sights set on three of California's top 6 PGs for 2011. Cezar Guerrero, CJ Cooper, and Jordan Daniels.

Take That UAB: Is Tim Floyd Recruiting 'Bama's Justin Knox? (Scout.com)

Bump'd: Great find Jake! AM Notes: UTEP is mentioned in passing as a possible destination for the former Crimson Tidecenter Justin Knox; but know that North Carolina and Georgia Tech are the early leaders. Recall that Knox was granted a release with tons of strings attached by the 'Bama athletic department. While he seemed to favor going to UA system school UAB, the Tide refused to authorize a release to an in-state school. The Blazers have been the best basketball program in Alabama for a while now and the Tide didn't want one of their own making them even better. For more on the Knox vs. Alabama situation, check the UAB section of the May 7, 2010 Dig. Recall that Alabama's trustees will go out of their way to squash any improvement in UAB athletics. Don't believe me? Remember the Jimbo Fisher screw job? Also, on a completely unrelated note, FoxSports' Jeff Goodman tweeted that former Southern Illinois point guard Kevin Dillard has UTEP in his top 5. More on Dillard & Knox in the coming days.
