I am, for better or worse, a lifelong Cubs fan. I figure I was spoiled when, during the second season I paid attention to baseball, 1984 at age 8, the Cubs came within a game of advancing to the World Series.
That experience left its mark, and I remember the sour memories of how 1984 and 2003 ended than the fun of winning the first two games in the '84 playoffs or beating the Braves to get to the 2003 NLCS.
But I will always love day baseball and "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." And there is a special place in my heart for Harry Caray and the fun of his play-by-play being interspersed with birthday wishes and non-sequiturs.
