I am originally from the Philadelphia area, and was really looking forward to checking out a Union game at PPL Park during a trip back east.   The next best thing to seeing the Sounders winning there would be to see the Union beating someone ahead of us in the West standings.  Special bonus would be getting to see the debut of Fredy Adu.   Brek Shea and his ridiculous shark-fin hair were in town and I had a friend's season tickets.  

I knew if I wore my Sounders shirt to the game I'd probably get some comments, but I figured I was neutral, since Dallas were (and usually are) the bad guys in Philly on this occasion.  I didn't realize that the tickets were in the river end with the Sons of Ben.  What followed when we arrived was not what I expected.

I just watched the John Spencer news conference and was struck by how the folks in Portland are already pumping up the rivalry with Seattle.  Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the  "You Can't Fake This"  line reminded me of the ridiculous accusation that we were pumping crowd noise into the stadium last year, when the blinding success of Seattle's first season was causing serious envy with the Seattle haters down there.  Also, Spencer (who is a pretty likable guy, judging by the press conference) answered an inaudible question by saying something like 'we don't play video games here' which must have been a reference to the Xbox sponsorship.   

Anyway, it's going to be fun kicking there a**es around the pitch!
