Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato are getting exactly what they deserve but....
the fans do not deserve any of this nonsense. I've made it clear where I believe this owner ranks among the leagues worst but that is a discussion for another time. This football team stinks. I've been a fan since the early 80's and this season has been so hard to stomach. For the first time in my life I did not watch the game on TV and choose to listen to it via the Internet. Instead I flipped back and forth between Ravens/Vikings (64 points) and Giants/Saints (75 points) games and the Redskins do not play the same sport as these teams. The first thing you notice about them are how good their offensive lines are playing. And you know what? They have built their lines through the draft and they've had the same offensive system in place for more then 2 seasons. Except for Baltimore who are only in Jim Harbaugh's 2nd season but they have Ossie Newsome who is one of best GM's and he's an amazing talent evaluator. Dan and Vinny are getting a huge dose of their own medicine. This is no way to run professional football team. As long as Laurel and Hardy are making all football decisions the future of this team looks grim. The Jim Zorn hiring was bizarre. In fact, that whole process was bizarre and you almost knew something like this season was heading our way. I believe Gregg Williams should been hired as head coach. He had support from most of the players and from a large portion of the fans. It would have been the safest and most stable pick. He had been head coach and a long time defensive coordinator in league. Look how good he has the saints defense playing right now. It always drives me crazy when I hear people talk about the 10 players on the field play after Sean Taylor's death as a reason for him not getting the job. Don't you have look at the whole body of work (as redskins dc) and not one play? In my opinion the reason he didn't get the job is because that weasel Vinny had issues with him and Gregg probably told him he can stick it where the sun don't shine. Congratulations Dan and Vinny you have made the Washington Redskins the laughing stock of the league. Thanks for ruining my Sunday afternoons and you are getting exactly what you deserve. From George Santayana “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." so true, this is act 2 of the Steve Spurrier show.
Punt Returner or Fair Catcher?
I know it's been a long week with everything that happened in Detroit but I would like to get back to talking about some of the on the field issues. I know I'm not the only one to notice this but what in the hell is going on with the punt returning? Antwan Randle El is a terrible punt returner and has been one since he arrived in D.C. What do you have to do to get demoted on this team? I was over at espn.com looking at some stats on punt returns and it's not pretty, He's 26th overall in the league and at first glance it doesn't look too bad until you start delving into the numbers a bit. He has a total of 8 punt returns and has called for a fair catch 6 times and only fielded 2. That's right only 2 attempts with a long of only 15 yards and a whooping total of 25. Philly's Desean Jackson has had 9 punt returns with 5 fielded and 4 times he's called for a fair catch. He has a total of a 111 yards with 1 touchdown and ranks 4th overall in the league. This is one of the things that drives me absolutely nuts. Special teams can be a huge spark for struggling offenses. Santana Moss has been on record saying that he has no problems with punt returning and in fact that it helps his overall game. As long as Randle El is back there we don't have a punt returner we have a fair catcher. For heaven's sake please give someone else a chance.
