Nicknames
What are some funny player nicknames? Many rookies are coming up that need nicknames. It is our responsibility to pick the best ones possible and spread the word about them. Zach Britton has to be baby britton. It just flows so well. And elliott smith is great. Fly Eli was a good one for dukes too. Brad Emaus should probably be Famous Emaus. Any other good, under the radar nicknames that most people wouldn't be familiar with?
Trade help
It is a dynasty league and I require the minorleagueball community's prospect expertise to help me with this deal. Side A has a championship ready team while Side B is in the rebuilding/gathering talent stage. I know people tend to not give a shit about other people's fantasy dilemmas but I this is really the only place where I'd trust the answers of an online community since propsects are involved.
Side A gets zimmerman, roberts
Side B gets Phillips, Pence, Wilmer Flores, Alex White, and Brett Lawrie
QB Pat White Signs
Am I on the wrong site? No because he has signed with the Royals. Anybody have any info on him? Does he have a shot at being something? Would he be better off in the UFL? I remember the Yankees drafted him in the 48th round a couple of years ago. They clocked him at 89. http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_football_dolphins/2009/06/miami-dolphins-pat-white-gets-drafted-again-for-baseball.html

Post any info you have on him. Preferably baseball related
Jonathan Singleton
Just how good is this guy? He is dominating low-A like its little league, at the age of 18 but It doesn't seem like there is enough hype surrounding him (except for from a lot of the users on this sight, but not from the experts). Does anybody have any scouting reports on this guy? I vaguely remember reading a manny ramirez comparison, can someone verify that? KG has said that hes the "talk of the sally league"
Heres what john had to say going in to the year, he ranked him 11.
11) Jonathan Singleton, 1B, Grade C+: Bat was a lot more polished than expected in the GCL. Strong power potential, could rank over Cosart and Bastardo if you prefer hitting to pitching
He seems really good
OT: Would you sign Bonds?
A recent fangraphs post got me wondering about Barry Bonds. This is completely hypothetical as he says he is retired, but would you want your team to sign bonds at league minimum if he was willing to play wherever you put him.. That means 1b, OF or dh...I'm a met an and i'd be all for having him if he showed he'd be willing to dedicate to 1b. Maybe even OF. You'd have to think he'd be willing to sacrifice, and rededicate himself in order to try an win a championship, especially because he hasn't won one. So what do you think???
With the no option in the poll, also vote no if you just think he is washed up, and wouldn't be very good anymore

Yankees, D-backs, Tigers 3-way deal
According to mlbtraderumors, these three teams have reached a deal sending Granderson to the yankees, Edwin Jackson and Ian kennedy to the D-backs, and austin jackson, max scherzer, Daniel schlerth, and phil coke. Initially i'm thinking the tigers lost, because it seems like they are trading granderson, who's contract is a bargain, to clear payroll.

I'm always interested in the minorleagueball community's opinion, What do you guys think?
The mets need to call up Jon Niese
He seems underrated by most. He keeps the ball down really well, and has good control, and he strikes out a healthy amount as well. He throws from 89-91 with filthy curveball and a solid change.
Check out these numbers in AAA
2009: 4.12 era 15gs 87.1 ip 93h 24bb 80k 1.70 GO/AO .269BAA
his 2008 numbers support these numbers as well
hesstriking out almost a batter per, with very good control, and excellent GB percentages. this is the guy the mets need to start, hes looking like a decent third starter
Sickels' gives him respect , saying ; 3) Jon Niese, LHP, Grade B: I’ve liked him since high school. He’s not an ace but should be a fine inning-eater.
KG called him "a solid but unspectacular fourth starter" i like KG but i think hes underrating him
Jordan Lyles and Matt Moore
Im in a dynasty league and my pick in the minor league draft is coming up in the next couple of days. Right now i'm stuck between Matt Moore and Jordan Lyles, as i would like a high upside pitcher. Which do you prefer, Lyles is currently having the better season with a line of 82.2 ip 103ks 18bb 1.08 GO/AO ratio 237 BAA 3.27 ERA (if anyones looking at era). Moore is 16 months older than lyles and recently turned 20 (lyles is 18). Moore's line is 63 ip 93ks 1.33 GO/AO 3HR 42 BB 174 BAA 3.14 ERA. He has been dominant over his last 5 starts with 8bbs and 42ks in 27.2 IP. Moore's walks werent a problem in the appy league last year either with only 19bb in 54 ip. Both have been dominant, after getting my thoughts down in this paragraph, im leaning towardds lyles because he is so young, but post your thoughts, and vote in the poll, i eagerly await your responses. Sickels was high on both pegging moore as a sleeper with dominating stuff, and he was also high on lyles, saying he was very projectable but would take a long time to develop.
some scouting, Kevin goldstein wrote this about moore going into the season:
Moore is another Rays power pitcher with a fastball that sits in the low 90s and touched 95-96 mph throughout the year, while his power curve gives him a second plus pitch. He has highly advanced control for his age, and his thick, powerful physique was described by one scout as "built to last."
And he wrote this about lyles
Lyles is a textbook example of a projectable pitcher. He's tall, long, skinny, and offers silky-smooth arm action. His fastball sits at an average velocity of 89-91 mph right now, and projects for plus, and he also has some feel for a curve and a changeup. His easily repeatable mechanics make for above-average command and control.
you now have a lot of the scouting and the statistics, help me make a decision
