I don't think I'll be able to get online often in the next couple weeks, so I wanted to give an update before the final two events of the current money pool season. We aren't using fantasy pool. Despite their best intentions, the site isn't available to everybody and the transaction options are minimal at best. You have to send cash through snail mail or bank transfers to me. Contact me soon because the cut-off next season is the day before the second event of the season. No exceptions. I am committing to two more seasons after the current season. I will not be continuing as commissioner after that. I was going to quit after this season, but I already have money from members for two seasons in the future. So don't send anymore than two seasons fees. The position will be available to any trusted poster on MMAMania. David W-S seems to be M.I.A. at the moment. I've tried to make contact with him several times to no avail. If I can't get hold of him soon I will finish out the pool fanposts unless Violentmike wants to grace us with his otherworldly fanpost skills.

This is the final week to "register" for season 6 of the Money Pool. This is a rebuilding season. Something the Leafs have been doing for the past 40 years plus.

In past seasons we were able to pay dues easily using one method. That method has been stripped from us. We now have to scramble to try and save our season. UFC138 looked like absolute garbage on paper, but of course the card provided tons of action.  I love watching the first-timers in the UFC as well as the unknowns.  Forget title  point fights, these guys are still working for something.  Nothing changed in the top 3 but we have a whole bunch of challengers now.  NNR, TheGreg and Agar aren't going to coast into the finals again, they'll have to continue to be near the top in the next few events or they'll be ousted.

 Basically the top 5 got lucky on the undercard and the rest of you didn't.  Stinky was the Undercards Champion and you weren't so don't act so shocked he's in there.

 

Freenow82 takes home the win.  Very impressive selection.  9 out of 10 with only missing the Diabate fight.  The snake as well as a few others seemed to be missing something , a little gas in the tank.  I didn't understand the nut-swishing performed by Joe and Mike after the fight, Hippo didn't seemed too agile on the ground, if not for a complete lack of skill on his opponents side, Hippo would have looked below average on the mat.

Freenow recieved full points on three fights.  Omigawa, Etim and Che Mills.

  You can now play next season for free and you get to choose a sig for P-Dub.  3 players decided to only take the final 2 fights.  Kevjack has decided it is less embarrassing to not make any picks at all then make the kind of picks he's capable of making.  I bet he doesn't have time for this camp because he's in a 40,000 dollar camp that he is winning.  haha.

Hey, guys. I'm gonna be very busy this weekend starting 10 minutes from now. I will be online tonight after 8 PM EST, but that will be the last time until Sunday night. So if you still want to play with us, you need to get a PG handle today and send me an email before I get home tonight. There has been a drop in registered players, but it's not as bad as some of us thought it would be. At this moment we have 38 players signed and in camp. I know a few of us wanted to up the number of players paid for their positions at the end of the season. We have talked about paying the top 5. I have a different suggestion. I think we should pay more than the registration fee to those who win an event. You should win 30 or 40 dollars if you win an event. I don't care which way we do it. But let's vote. There is a few other things that need to be discussed, but I'm outta time. We will make the final decisions next week after we know how many people we have in the pool. But for now, get your money in, get your PG profile set up and send me an email. Thanks.

Season 5 of the Mania Money Pool is fast approaching. UFC Fight Night 25 is on the 17th of September. That's only 11 days away!

We had a very successful season 4. Agar 'the lurker' was the big winner. NNR took home a nice purse (not the kind Snitchy McDouche wears), and TheGreg also came out on top.

I wanted to know if staff at Mania read these threads or cared about our pool, so I'm going to make them an offer if they see this. One of you guys can play on my dime. I want to pay for one of you to join us. You can discuss this amongst yourselves and decide who will represent the experts, or the first one of you fuckers that sees this can email me and snatch the free spot. You'll be entitled to any event wins you earn, and you'll be eligible for season finale prizes just like everybody else. I just want a staff member in the pool (you don't count Brian because you sucked ass last year. I'm still waiting to write my sentence in one of your articles as well, sucker).

Feel free to join, BEtards. It's not quite as exciting as a 10 man free pool between sites, but you can win money instead of cyber bragging rights. If you got the sac for it that is.

If you're reading this, I'm going to guess you've been involved with this damn pool at one time or another.  The pool from Hell started in January of 2010.  McArthur thought it would be a good idea to start a free pool with no structure or schedule.  What happened quickly is 140 people decided to play off and on.  Mac had a book a foot thick full of people's picks when we met 4 months into the pool.

 

About 10 months into this pool Mac decided the pool should end in some way.  He decided that if you miss an event, you're out.  People dropped like flies.  But we got down to about 75 loyal free poolers and nobody was going anywhere.  David W-S even thought he had a chance to win at one point.  That's how sad this pool was, David WS was our leader.  But we weren't actually going to let a Brit win this pool.   Unless it was her.

After a year of keeping up with stats our good friend Mac had had enough.  He has been MIA ever since.   I have kept them the past few events and am glad to say it is over.  Ulf Murphy has won the first and only season of free UFC pick 'em.

Congratulations, Ulf.  You may have choked in the money pool, but you'll always be the best at making picks that aren't worth shit.  That's something nobody can take from you.  haha  I wouldn't let you walk away empty handed.  Check your email.

We have arrived at the final event of our current MMAMoney Pool season.   Somebody is taking home the single biggest monetary win on Mania in the sites storied history.  With 53 people in the current season, it was extremely hard to remain competitive throughout the long 8 event season.  Most of us dropped off after the first card, some of us stayed at or near the top the entire time.  I was part of the former group.

 

The top 6 all have legitimate chances at winning the title.  Phish Nation will need a miracle, but he could still make some cheddar with a near perfect performance.

First place will receive 60% of remaining cash, second place will receive 30% and third place will receive 10%. We will also be offering 10 dollars per event for the event winner. So if you win one event, you get half your money back (pool costs 20 dollars). **In case of a tie winners will duel at the next event in a sidepot. The new event will also be available for the "duelers" and everyone not involved in said duel.

Example of payout (this is all hypothetical); Season 4 has 7 events. We have 30 players. Prize pool would be around 600 dollars

70 dollars would go to winners from events, leaving 530 for season end. First place would take 318$. Second place would take 159$. Third place would take 53$.

That takes care of the money.

Each season will be 4 months. Season 3 was Jan1-April30, Season 4 is May 1st-August 31st, Season 5 will be September 1st-December 31st. Our season will not match the "seasons" on mmaplayground. They may match up at some point by pure luck, but we don't use their seasons at all. The fanpost and stats are going to be kept this season by Two_words. Watch for his name in the fanposts shortly after events.

If money is not received by the league commissioner (this seasons commissioner is me, Jason Whyte) by the morning of the first event of the season, you will be removed from playground immediately. There is no exceptions.

Did anyone check out playground yet?  Did you happen to see on the site leaderboard that our friend Ulf Murphy came flying out of the gates?  Let's see if that luck holds up when it matters.  Detroitdrew choked and allowed Two_words to sneak into the money again.

 

Season 3 is finally in the books.  I'm very disappointed to say that ViolentMike was able to keep his hold onto the top spot.  I'm as angry with myself as I am with all of you.  I would like to remind Mike that I beat his ass in all of the last three events this season, and I am taking the money back in season 4.  The 50 dollar bet is renewed and this time you're paying, dick.

I just talked to Kev via email. He is going to make me the commissioner of the current league. All of this season's participants will not have to change the league they are in. Of course anyone born without a backbone will be removed from the league (don't let this be you Felix or Mac).

OK, the last event of season three is on the horizon and next season is starting to rev up. There will be a couple changes to the pool (most notably the commissioner).

Kevjack has been banned from participating on Mania and from what I have heard it isn't going to change. We had a couple regulars decide that with the commish not able to communicate they would like to back out. I really enjoy this pool and the trash talk that comes with it. Therefore I propose a change in the format, I would like to (with a consensus blessing) take over the league. This is a MMAMania league and I think an active participant of the site should be running this pool.

Now to the changes....

Aside from the one big one, I would also like to change a bit of the payout structure. I think if you win an event you deserve some sort of reward (this will give players a reason to continue playing after being mathematically eliminated from the season end podium). My idea is minor but adds a bit of excitement to each event.

The amount it will cost you to play remains the same 20$. However winner of each event will receive a 5$ credit. That means when/if you get the most points in any event you will get a star or asterisk beside your name. That means the league owes you 5$ out of the pool fund.

If there are 15 players that would be 300 dollars. 5 dollars per event is probably a 50 dollar deduction from the final pool fund at most. First place will receive 70% of remaining funds and second place receives 30% of funds.

I will be actively recruiting more players in the next couple weeks. Anyone that has a friend that might be interested send them our way.

 ViolentMike and BNF are once again winning the pool.  I can't stress enough how excited I am to say that.  There's one thing they couldn't do, though, and that is defeat the man at UFC 128.  That's right, Mike.  Bow down sucker.  Step aside freenow, you won't be beating me this time, mate.  HAHAHA

I hope you are making arrangements with Kev for the money from this pool (VM and TW or BNF) ask him if he is still going to continue running the pool or if we should start looking at  replacement.  Should start thinking of this before the season runs out.

I thought the Fight for the Troops event was half decent, the fights were entertaining but come on!  I need to get a DVR because those commercials were painful.  One fight for every 20 minutes of commercials just isn't my idea of a night well spent. 

 

One more quick topic that needs to be addressed, we (ricky dooby and I) had a discussion in the last thread that hasn't been answered yet.  Kev, you said this was for 3 months or 4 months?  I had thought you said this was quarterly, but then we saw that the end of this season is April 30th?  Do we know how long we are running here?  Anyway, good luck on the next event and check out the scores on your way out.

Welcome to the third season of the money pool.  We have a few more participants and this pool seems to grow each season.  UFC 125 is in the books and the season has begun.  Thanks to Kevin for sticking to it and making this pool grow.  I'd like to take the time to welcome DetroitDrew into the pool.  He had a successful Fantasy football season and has decided that Maniacs are all easy marks, so he is here to take all of your hard earned dollars with his other worldly skills.  Let's see how he made out this event, shall we?
