Bolts From The Blue One way to assess Turner

My current (surely debatable) view is that one path towards dominance is a dominating QB. If you have one of those, you should be doing very well. My view is we do have that QB in Rivers but not getting the kind of results we would expect.

Bolts From The Blue Thoughts on how to assemble the Chargers

This stretch, including last season, has been especially depressing. More depressing is my complete lack of confidence in Chargers front office's ability to make good choices in replacing Turner and/or Smith. Anyway, I have been thinking a lot about what makes a good HC and GM.

Bolts From The Blue John Spanos as GM

I must have missed this, but saw the references on the board.  How is this remotely justifiable?  How can you demand accountability and results from your coaches and your players when deciding that the GM to take the team to the Super Bowl just happens to be your brother son (which is arguably worse)?  What a happy coincidence.  Of all the people working hard in football to make a name for themselves, working long hours, pushing the art/science of player evaluation, the best GM candidate happens to be your brother son?

Gaslamp Ball Rizzo's return to Tucson

His first two games back, he goes 1-9, with 1 BB, 6K.  His next four 11-17, 3 2B, 3HR, 1BB, 2K.  Statistically probably means nothing but fun to tally up that audacious line over those four good games:  .647/.667/1.706.  I am sure there are many four game stretches like that in AAA by others, but nice to see him not fall into a slump.

Gaslamp Ball Blanks going nuts

BP's Goldstein wrote about this, so I looked it up.  Kyle is on fire in the hot Tucson sun.  If we were to bring him up, who do we push down?  Do we need three catchers, 12 pitchers?
