Coaches That Should Be On The Ravens Radar
The Ravens will be in the hunt for a new linebacker coach, wide receiver coach( if Jim Hostler leaves), and quarterback coach. I wanted to list some possible candidates that could possibly not only fill a need but be able to help The Ravens become better than last year in some areas.
Hue Jackson:
Jackson has been with the ravens before as the quarterback coach (2008-2009)and he definitely will be some one Joe Flacco will be familiar with but it may be best if The Ravens can get Jackson to be the wideceiver coach. Under Jackson’s tutelage in Cincinnati, Chad Ochocinco and T.J Housmanzadeh became one of the most polific wide-receiving tandems in the nfl. In 2005, the Ochocinco-Houshmandzadeh tandem combined to total 175 receptions for 2,388 yards.
Possible coaching postion: wide receiver or quarterback coach. for more info click here
Jim Caldwell:
Caldwell spent most of his time in the nfl as a quarterback coach before he became the head coach of colts in 2009. During his time as the quarterback coach it was said Peyton Manning credited Caldwell for his success where Manning became the first QB since Steve Young with three consecutive 100+ rating seasons Caldwell may be able to help Joe Flacco in a big way and since he has worked with/ watched a elite/future hall famer quarterback, it could be even more helpful for Joe Flacco/
Possible coaching postion: quarterback coach. for more info click here and here
Greg Manusky:
Manusky is a former nfl player( he was a linebacker) who started his career in coaching as a linebacker coach. During his time as linebacker coach of the chargers ( 2002-2006) it was said he help molded one of the best linebacker units in the nfl. Under his guidance Donnie Edwards led the team in tackles, Randall Godfrey finished second and Shawne Merriman was named nfl defensive rookie of the year. Five different linebackers have made the pro bowl while being coached by Manusky.

If you have any ideas of which coaches The Ravens should target then please share.

Hello San Diego Chargers fans.I am here to provide answers to any question about the Baltimore Ravens before they face your team on Sunday. I have questions of my own about your teams( see below).
1) what rookie has really shined for the chargers?
2) How good has former Ravens left tackle Jared Gaither been for The Chargers?
3) The Chargers offense hasn't been consistently good but what do you think is the cause for this?
4) Do you feel like Norv Turner is the reason why the chargers haven't been consistently successful this year?

Hello Cleveland Browns fans. I am here to provide answers to any question about the Baltimore Ravens before they face your team on Sunday. I have questions of my own about your teams( see below)
1) The Browns defense ran a 3-4 type defense last year but how has it been since they changed to a 4-3 type defense? Is defensive coodinator Rob Ryan missed or is the current defensive coordinator better?
2) The Browns defense are ranked number one against the pass but what player in the secondary has stepped up?
3) What rookie has been the most impessive so far this season?
4) What do you think The Browns will need to help improve the offense & defense in 2012 draft? What college player?
Ravens Offense Still Having Trouble with 4-3 Type Defenses
The Ravens offense for some reason continues to have trouble with 4-3 types defenses but overall the defense are in a cover two type scheme. What is a cover two? and how can it be beat?(look below).
The Cover 2 Defense derives it name from the number of deep safeties employed to cover the deep receivers. There are two deep safeties covering the deep threat, in a zone defense, each taking half the field.
The Cover 2 has three linebackers and two corners playing in a zone defense, each taking one 5th of the field, on the line there are 4 rushers.
Depending on what the defense sees, the 5 defensive back will play zone or play man to man.
The QB can have a difficult time making the right read, whether it is man to man or zone. The Cover2 is easy to disguise what its going to do, making it difficult for the offense.
Variations of the Spread Offense are more prevalent in college and high school play, a very effective offense to attack the Cover 2.
Frequently when offenses see the Cover 2 Defense, they will use a 4 vertical receiver attack, sending 4 receivers down the field, stretching the safeties. If they are running the underside D backs in a zone defense, there will be holes in the zone.
This will expose any defensive weaknesses. If they are not running the Cover 2 properly they will be exposed. The offense has the opportunity to complete a big play against the linebackers.
Using a high-low vertical stretch attacking the corners is another effective attack on the Cover 2 Defense.
When the Cover 2 is in the zone the corners responsibility is to cover the outside 5th of the field, protecting the flat.
The outside wide receiver runs full blast off the line selling he is running a post corner pattern. His goal is to sell the safety that he is running a deep inside post route. The goal is to freeze the safety or get him back pedaling. Once the safety is frozen the receiver breaks back to the outside for the corner.
The safety has to stay inside protecting his inside half of the field preventing the receiver from crossing inside him.
This will force the corner to sink and try to protect the hole created on the outside between the safety and the corner.
The offense then can release a running back or tight end into the new gap. The corner is caught in a hi-low stretch in his 5th of the field. Which ever target the corner covers opens up the other receiver for a possible big play.
The last strategy for attacking the Cover 2 Defense we will look at is called an In-out Horizontal Stretch on the corner back.
Typically this play is run against the corner and the SAM or Wil linebacker, defeating the Cover 2 by creating a gap between the linebacker and the corner.
The wide receiver releases to the outside forcing the corner to come up and try to jam and widen as he tries to keep the receiver from releasing out side, stretching the safety. As the corner comes up to jam the receiver the corner is now flattened out and widened exposing the inside.
As the corner widens with the wide receivers outside move, the offense takes advantage of this situation by sending the number 2 receiver either the tight end or running back inside to the hole the corner has left between himself and the SAM or Wil linebacker.
In conclusion the Cover 2 Defense is a very effective defense; I can be used as a zone defense or man to man. The challenges it presents the offense is how well it disguises itself between man to man and zone.
The Spread Offense is very effective in defeating the Cover 2 Defense using the vertical and horizontal stretches on the corners, linebackers and safeties.
I believe The Ravens offense did use the right formation to beat the cover two but it doesn't matter if players are dropping passes, quarterback overthrowing/under throwing passes, and wideouts just getting physically man handle in press coverage.

Joe Flacco Leadership
Hello Ravens fans/other fans. Today I will be speaking about Joe Flacco Leadership but lets take a look at the defintion/qualites of leadership.
Leaders are recognized in sports, schools and businesses every day. Not all of these leaders are managers. Some are members of management, but others are employees who lead through example for coworkers. It does not take a specific title to be a leader. Instead, there are skills leaders have that make others want to perform at a high level when either working with them or for them. Leaders improve the performance of everyone around them.
Leadership of a team can be the difference between success and failure. Leadership is the process of determining goals for the team and finding a way for the team to meet those goals. Leadership involves finding ways to motivate team members or employees to reach their goals. Learning how to motivate for leader is not easy, as each employee or person on his team may have to be motivated in a different way. Finding out how to get each team member or employee to perform at her highest level is the job of a leader.
Leadership can be passive or aggressive. Showing good leadership involves reading people you are leading and finding what works with them. An "in-your-face" approach might get high performance from some members of the team, but it also can result in negative feedback from others. A laid-back leadership style can empower employees who work for you, but it can also result in an atmosphere in which the team feels unmotivated. The wrong type of leadership for a team or employee can be more damaging than no leadership at all.
Joe Flacco is the leader of the offense and other players such as O-linemen/tackle, running back/fullback,wide receiver, and tight ends are his followers.Joe Flacco leadership seems to be a passive type leadership where he not a fiery type guy pumping up his followers but indeed is laid back type leader, which can lead to his followers feeling unmotivate at times. In tough times Flacco followers are going to look up to him for some kind of answer/motivation to solve a problem and if they can't find it from their leader than everybody will be lost.
The leader is the head and the followers are the neck; If the head is not functioning then neither will the neck and if the neck not funtioning neither will the head. After last night game Joe Flacco said in a interview " We are a young football team, we are switching guys in up front and we have new guys out there and we need some time" Leadership can be hard to do if the people you are leadering are still a little inexperience and it takes time for the leader to actrally grow a bond with his followers.
Joe Flacco leadership is still going through a growing phase and this is his first year where he has been given the full control of the offense. Joe Flacco leadership needs to improve just as well as his followers performance but the improvement of leadership is still the important factor in order for this offense to develop/perform the way it should.

Is Anquan Boldin Really Joe Flacco Go To Guy?
In the NFL a majority of elite/good quarterback have a special wide out that he loves passing to and the chemistry between the two (quarterback & wide out) are usually strong. Joe Flacco used to have a go to guy in Derrick Mason but since his departure some will think Anquan Boldin will be the new/better go to guy. Flacco Chemistry with Boldin is much better than last year but it seems like what needs to be there is not there yet; The season is still young and there still a whole lot of growth to be made on offense but from observing the past four games it doesn't seem like Anquan Boldin is Joe Flacco go to guy.
I'm confident that everything will get better with time but what do you think? Is Anquan Boldin really Joe Flacco go to guy? Or will it be someone else?

Baltimore Ravens Bye Week Questions
The Ravens are just coming off a dominating win against the New York Jets and what better way to go to a bye with not only a chance to rest your body/ be with your family but also a record of 3-1/leaders of the AFC North. The Ravens seem to be on the right track and to think that the progress of this team will only get better with growth of the young & veteran’s players should be exciting to see once everything comes together.
I have some questions that will probably be answered once the raven’s bye week is over (you should see them listed below) :
1) Who will be the Ravens number three wide out?
Ravens fans may think that it should be undoubtfully Torrey Smith and its only right to think such things but there are some other talented wide outs waiting in the wings like David Reed, Laquan Williams, and Tandon Doss. I believe the ravens should do a rotation when it comes to the third wide out position at least doing game time situation because it probably can confuse opposing defenses.
2) Will Tandon Doss ever gets his chance to shine this year?
I was very happy when The Ravens drafted Tandon Doss in the fourth round and he was even the player I predicted the ravens will draft in my mock draft months ago. Tandon Doss is said to be similar to an Anquan Boldin/Derrick Mason but just faster/younger but since he has had wide outs like Lee Evans, Torrey Smith, and Laquan Williams in front of him it hasn't been often for him to see the field. Tandon Doss was said to be a steal when the ravens drafted him in the fourth round because he was stated as second round type player and etc.
3) Will Anquan Boldin and Joe Flacco chemistry improve?
Anquan Boldin is clearly The Ravens number one wide out but it seems like the chemistry between him and Joe Flacco is still a work in progress. Anquan Boldin and Joe Flacco chemistry is a lot better than last year but there still a lot of work to be done between the two.Boldin has looked good so far and so has Joe Flacco but better chemistry will be a benefit for the offense as the season goes forward
4) How will Lee Evans turn out this year?
Lee Evans was bought in to help the ravens stretch the field but so far his impact on field has been limited because of his ankle injury but he should be back after the bye week. Evans will most likely help The Ravens offense become better and give Flacco a wide out he's more comfortable with.
5) How will Paul Kruger, Pernell Mcphee, and Arthur Jones develop?
Just about all of these guys have made plays on the defense so far but it should be interesting to see how they progress as the season goes forward.
6) How will Ladarius Webb and Cary Williams develop this year?
Ladarius Webb and Cary Williams are coming off very good performance against the New York Jets by shutting down the Ravens killers (Santonio Holmes and Plaxico Burgess) and if they can get better from their performance against The Jets then the secondary will be in even better shape.

I'm sure you all know the next game for the Jets will be against The Ravens and my purpose for this fanpost is to answer as many questions as possible about the ravens before the game starts on sunday. I have questions of my own about your team and you should see them listed below:
How has former Raven Derrick Mason & former giant Plaxico Burress come along so far?
Has Mark Sanchez become a better quarterback than he was last year?
What rookie has step up for the team?
Has Kyle Wilson become better than last year?
Since Jason Taylor departure who has step up in the pass rush department?

Jeremy Ross
Jeremy Ross 2008 Highlights (via ronenlish1)
AFC North Writer James Walker made a list called "Five Rookie Free Agents To Watch". The list descibed each rookie free agent talent and what team in The AFC North that player will most likely go to; Inside linebacker/Outside linebacker Mark Herzlich and Wide Receiver Jeremy Ross were the two rookie free agents listed as being possible Baltimore Ravens once the lockout ends . Mark Herzlich is a player I've explaned before that could be a good fit for The Ravens but Wide Reciever Jeremy Ross seems to be very interesting and could be beneficial for the Ravens in the future
The Ravens are in no need for a wideout but there is nothing wrong with adding one for developmental purposes. The Ravens could look at Jeremy Ross and notice his talents and try to develop him further along to being a good receiver in The NFl.
Ross played receiver, running back and returned kicks at Cal. He needs to find a natural position in the NFL, but has good speed (4.4 to 4.5) and his return ability gives Ross a chance to make a team
Jeremy Ross 2009 Highlights (via HANDSOMElifeOFswing)
My Ravens Free Agency Predictions
Hello Baltimore Ravens Fans/ others. The lockout has not been lifted yet but I wanted to construct a list on who I think the Ravens will target in the free agency market.
Re-sign List:
Cornerback Chris Carr/Josh Wilson- this one is very tricky because both players are really good and could help the team but I don't think both will be re-signed. I think who ever will be cheaper will be one that will come back.
Tackle/Guard Marshal Yanda- this is obvious
Tackle Jared Gaither- yes I believe this man will be bought back and some may not think so but I have a good feeling he will be back.
Sign list:
Undrafted free agent outside linebacker/inside linebacker Mark Herzlich- Herzlich is a solid tackler, very instinctive, good in coverage, can rush the passer, and was leader for his team in college. Mark Herzlich would benefit much from being mentor by Ray Lewis and it was said that Ray Lewis is one of the linebackers in the NFL he looks up to. Imagine Mark Herzlich and Ray Lewis just dominating together on the field like two lions feasting on a deer.
Safety Darren Sharper- I know some Ravens fans may not agree with this (cause of his age) but I think the Ravens may give Darren Sharper a shot if they feel like they need a experienced veteran strong safety .Darren Sharper may be 35 years old but this is the same guy that had 91 tackles and 9 interceptions in 2009.
Undrafted free agent Center Kris O'Dowd- Kris o' Dowd was considered to be one of the best centers in 2011 draft but he was probably not drafted because of durability concerns. The Ravens aren't in a serious need for a center but it would be wise to bring in a center to be mentored by Matt Birk.
Outside linebacker Manny Lawson- Lawson was a first round pick by the 49ers but hasn’t lived up to the potentials the team expected from him. He has a good burst off the line, good in coverage, and is a solid tackler. Manny Lawson has shown some potential to be an effective pass rusher before and his best season was in 2009 when he had 68 tackles, 6.5 sack, 3 force fumble, and two pass deflection. Lawson may just need new scenery and what better scenery there could be with a winning team/Ray Lewis in your ear pumping you up with motivation.
Undrafted free agent free safety/strong safety Deunta Williams- Williams was considers one of the top best safeties in this year draft but for some reason he was not drafted. Deunta Williams has history with our current defensive coordinator chuck pagano and is a solid tackler, very good in coverage, instinctive, and good against the run game.
Undrafted free agent Fullback Patrick Dimarco - The Ravens do have fullback Justin McKee but it has been said that The Ravens are still looking for a fullback. Patrick Dimarco could fit everything the Ravens are looking for and more; He is a solid blocker, can catch the ball, versatile enough to come in as a tight end, can run with the ball in his hand, and aggressive.
Undrafted free agent inside linebacker Mario Harvey- If the Ravens don't decide to sign Mark Herzlich then I can see them for sure going after Harvey. In college Mario Harvey had 142 tackles, 161/2 tackles for lost, 2 force fumbles, and at his pro day ran a 4.4 on the 40. Harvey could turn out to be an outside linebacker but some may disagree because of his size but you could say the same thing about him playing as an inside linebacker.
Undrafted free agent Deandre Brown- I know some fans may disagree with this because we already have much depth at the wideout position but you can't deny the talent that Deandre Brown has. I see Deandre Brown being a developmental player that can go on the practice squad and maybe in the future turn out to be a solid investment by The Ravens. DeAndre Brown has good hand, physical, ability to be a red zone target/ deep threat, and is tough to bring down after the catch.
Just a Joke Sign List:
Outside linebacker Michael Jordan: I have inside sources within The Ravens locker room that Michael Jordan is thinking of coming back to sports but to play as an outside linebacker in The Nfl. I think the Ravens should consider this and I’m sure Ray Lewis will be jumping for joy. 10 sacks on Big Ben here we come Steelers because the champ is here.
Quarterback Jazz- I know you thinking in your mind saying wow but yes the Ravens are going to sign me to be there quarterback. I got tired of seeing Joe Flacco win so many games without a super bowl and I got training from an elite quarterback coach called bob Billy gut. Jazz has lot of experience of playing quarterback (Madden 08, Madden 09, Madden 10) and has won many games. Joe Flacco should learn a whole lot from him as he sits on the bench and watch Jazz throw game wining interception (cough cough cough) I mean touchdowns.
Wideout Justin Bieber- I’m seeing Ravens fans saying we need to get younger and let Derrick Mason go; Well what better way to do that then sign wideout Justin Bieber. Justin Bierber will bring much youth to the Ravens receiving core and he famous for his zero touchdowns/zero receptions/hair but hey we got to get younger right? I know for sure Ozzie Newsome will be on the phone with him once the lockout is over and we will have a top five offense.
Just A Thought on Ravens Fullback and Wide Receiver situation
The Ravens drafted speedy wideout Torrey Smith but would it be wise to add another speedy wideout as back up? If Torrey Smith would have to miss a game because of a injury or isnt up to speed on the playbook . Who would be able to step in to provide the same attributes to stretch the field vertically?
The Ravens will most likely will be needing a fullback if Leron McClain isnt re-signed but maybe they wont have to look far for one. Tight end Davon Drew could be converted into a fullback and he has good size to play as one. Davons Drew coming out of college was said to have "good height with long arms, strong biceps and adequate lower body build. Versatile enough to be used outside, in the slot, in motion and on the line. Reliable hands and will snatch the ball outside his frame. Good release off the line, and can use hands to shake off linebackers and get into his route. Will set up out routes well, using his long arms to get separation. Quick enough to threaten the seam and open up underneath routes. Fights off arm tackles and gain additional yardage after the catch. Former quarterback who knows when to sit down in zones and works to make himself available. Very willing run and pass blocker, giving good effort". More info here
Which Player Would You Re-Sign? Chris Carr or Josh Wilson
Chris Carr immediately stepped up his game and took a leadership role of the secondary when Dominique Foxworth went down with an acl tear. Carr found himself having a solid season and it was even said that quarterbacks eventually stop passing his way whenever he was on the field. Josh Wilson came to The Ravens through a trade with The Seattle Seahawks and the trade eventually paid off for The Ravens later on in the season. Josh Wilson developed into a playmaker for The Ravens and he is most famous for his game winning interception against the Houston Texans for a touchdown .
The Ravens just recently drafted two cornerbacks and some may think that the chances for both Chris Carr and Josh Wilson have decreased. If you were The Ravens which player would you re-sign?
Undrafted Free Agents That Could Help Ravens Pass Rush
DE/OLB Kenny Rowe Ht:6’2 Wt: 234 School: Oregon
Kenny Rowe has "good bulk for the position looks more stout than listed weight... Shows good patience when getting blocked, will wait for opportunities to shed and make a play... Excellent pass-rushing productivity over the last two seasons (18.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles)... Has a pretty high motor, not the fastest player, but does not give up on plays, is relentless in backside pursuit... Youth/Speed on The Ravens Offense Will Not Be The Savior !!!!
The Ravens offense performance last year wasn't up to expectation and some believe that the lack of speed on the field was the reason for its down fall. The Ravens offense had new faces/players playing out of their original position such as David Reed, Ed Dickson, Anquan Boldin, Marshall Yanda, Michael Oher, Donte Stallworth, Dennis Pitta, and T.J Housmanzadeh.
The Ravens offense would seem to be unstoppable with so much talent but they were stoppable. The Ravens offense showed flashes of explosiveness but why wasn't it explosive all the time? Was it because Derrick Mason is 37? Was it because Cam Cameron didn’t know what he was doing? Was it because T.J Housmanzadeh is 33? Was it because Boldin is 30? Was it because our starter wipeouts were slow? Was it because Michael Oher isn't a fit for the blind side? And was it because Donte Stall worth wasn’t used much? The answer is not what I stated above but the real answer is the lack of chemistry.
The Ravens indeed lost a great deal of chemistry by trading Mark Clayton and losing Jared Gaither to Injuries. Cam Cameron play calling/Slow wipeouts on field gets most of the blame for the offense down fall but how can you expect anything to work if their isn't consistent chemistry. Joe Flacco/Cam Cameron was faced with an offense with no connection of consistent chemistry and this is why you had games where play calling didn’t turn out right, Joe Flacco not seeing Anquan Boldin wide open, offensive linemen looking lost, and etc.
The Ravens do need to draft a young/fast wideout but that is not their revolution for their offense but instead more chemistry is. If the Ravens can go 12-4 with an offense with lack of chemistry then imagine how it would be once chemistry is truly at the level it supposes to be. The Ravens offense also would benefit from a player that provide energy like Anquan Boldin with his speeches, a play maker like Desean Jackson, entertainer/ dancer like a Kelly Washington, and more leadership. The Ravens offense yet again will be face with some changes and hopefully the changes doesn't effect the chemistry like last year offense.
Should The Ravens Draft Two Wideouts in this year Draft?
The Ravens will have to address the wide receiver position in this year draft but should they draft more than one wideout? The Ravens have young wide outs such as James Hardy, David Reed, Justin Harper, Marcus Smith, and Brandon Jones waiting to show they can contribute to The Ravens offense .The Ravens could possibly already have the young wide out they been wanting who could provide the vertical threat/explosive force on offense but does the current young players already on the roster provide enough faith for the Ravens to decide to just draft one wide out?
Jaz Baltimore Ravens Mock Draft 2.0
Jaz Baltimore Ravens Mock Draft 2.0
Round 1: No. 26 DT/DE Muhammad Wilkerson, Ht: 6’-4”, Wt: 315, School: Temple
This pick really was hard because I was thinking of picking outside linebacker Justin Houston in the first round but Muhammad Wilkerson seems to be more valuable to me. I pick Muhammad Wilkerson over Justin Houston because of the simple fact that the Ravens may need him in a critical situation when the Ravens defense have to use the three man rush (we all know how that went last year)and the outside linebacker/ everybody else on defense have to stay in coverage. Muhammad Wilkerson is a very good pass rusher, strong, can push/pressure the pocket, versatile, quick, has good technique, has good awareness, and is good against the run.
Highlights of Wilkerson is here
Round 2: No. 58: CB Ras- I Dowling, Ht: 6’1”, Wt: 198, School: Virginia
The Ravens are looking for a tall, physical, discipline cornerback and Raps-I- Dowling fits everything they need. Ras -I Dowling is a first round talent but his recent injuries has drop him down to the second round and he has all the tools to become a special player in the NFL.Ras - I Dowling probably won’t become a starter right away but he will be able to sit and learn from Ed Reed, Dominique Foxworth, Ray Lewis, Chris Carr, and etc
Highlights of Dowling is here
Round 3: No. 90 T/G Marcus Gilbert, Ht: 6-6, Wt: 330, School: Florida
If Jared Gaither doesn’t return The Raven may need to look for a right/left tackle but it still should be a good idea to add some depth in the o-line position even if Jared Gaither does return. Marcus Gilbert fits everything the Ravens look for in an offensive lineman with him being very versatile, has good strength, solid pass protector, and solid run blocker, has a good burst off the line, and good size.
Highlights of Gilbert is here
Round 4: No. 122 WR Tandon Doss Ht: 6’2”, Wt: 201, School Indiana
John Harbaugh said that he would like to have a speedy wideout that could stretch the field but he would like a wide out that cannot only run fast but can get in/out of his breaks quickly. Tandon Doss does have blazing speed but he has just enough speed to stretch the field, has good hands, can provide depth in the kick return position, solid route runner, good height, can get in/out of his breaks quickly, and can make plays every time he gets the ball.
Highlights of Doss is here
Round 5: No 164 WR Greg Salas: 6’1”, Wt 210, School: Hawaii
The Ravens may need to add some speed to the wide receiver group but toughness/aggressiveness fits them all the way and Greg Salas can provide that for them. Greg Salas may not have blazing speed but he is a play maker, has good hands, aggressive, not easy to bring down , make plays out of nothing, play like he has to prove something, and solid route runner.
Highlights of Salas is here
Round 5: No. 165 Ahmad Black, Ht:5’10”, Wt:184,School: Florida
the Ravens may have a need in the safety position because it’s not a guarantee that Dawn Landry will be back. Ahmad Black can be physical, tackle hard, good in coverage, can play in the nickel/dime package, has above average instinct, and provide leadership. The Ravens secondary coach Teryl Austin was Ahmad Black defensive coordinator in college and it would be good for them to have reunion and help Black advance his play making abilities.
Highlights of Black is here
Round 6: No. 175 C/G Ryan Bartholomew, Ht: 6’1”, Wt: 302, School: Syracuse
The Ravens have showed interest in Center Ryan Bartholomew before and from watching some videos of him I begin to see why. A center should be strong and handle the big defensive players but also be smart and be a leader. Ryan Bartholomew has leadership quality, he is smart, versatile, strong, good pass protector, has good short area quickness, physical, and hard worker. Ryan Bartholomew wouldn’t be expected to be a starter right away because the Ravens still have Pro bowler center Matt Birk but he can surely benefit much from mentorship by Matt Birk.
Highlights of Bartholomew is here
Round 6: No. 186 OLB/DE Bruce Miller, Ht: 6’1”, Wt: 254, School: Central Florida
I keep seeing people talking about outside linebacker/defensive end Justin Houston, Reed Brooks, Von Miller, and etc but nobody talking about Bruce Miller. Bruce Miller has a nonstop motor, good in the pass rush, notch 8 sacks last year, notch 13 ½ tackles for lost, notch two force fumble, two interceptions, and has good work ethics. Bruce Miller could be a steal for the Ravens and could be effective pass rushers for third down situations or more.
Highlights of Miller is here and here
Round 7: No. 215 RB Anthony Allen, Ht: 6’1”, Wt: 228, School: Georgia Tech
The Ravens are going to need to add some depth in the running back position because they could be losing LeRon McClain and Willis McGahee this year. Anthony Allen is a big back, explosive, solid receiver out of the backfield, not easy to bring down once tackle, can run up the middle/inside, physical, and solid run blocker. Anthony Allen has all the tools to be a good power running back and goal line threat like Willis McGahee

Jaz Baltimore Ravens Mock Draft 2.0
Jaz Baltimore Ravens Mock Draft 2.0
Round 1: No. 26 DT/DE Muhammad Wilkerson, Ht: 6’-4", Wt: 315, School: Temple
Highlights of Muhammad here
Round 2: No. 58: CB Ras- I Dowling, Ht: 6’1", Wt: 198, School: Virginia
The Ravens are looking for a tall, physical, discipline cornerback and Raps-I- Dowling fits everything they need. Ras -I Dowling is a first round talent but his recent injuries has drop him down to the second round and he has all the tools to become a special player in the NFL.Ras - I Dowling probably won’t become a starter right away but he will be able to sit and learn from Ed Reed, Domonique Foxworth, Ray Lewis, Chris Carr, and etc
Highlights of Dowling here
Round 3: No.
Highlights of Gilbert here
Round 4: No. 122 WR Tandon Doss Ht: 6’2", Wt: 201, School Indiana
John Harbaugh said that he would like to have a speedy wideout that could stretch the field but he would like a wide out that cannot only run fast but can get in/out of his breaks quickly. Tandon Doss does not have blazing speed but he has just enough speed to stretch the field, has good hands, can provide depth in the kick return position, solid route runner, good height, can get in/out of his breaks quickly, and can make plays every time he gets the ball.
Highlights of Doss here
Round 5: No 164 WR Greg Salas: 6’1", Wt 210, School: Hawaii
The Ravens may need to add some speed to the wide receiver group but toughness/aggressiveness fits them all the way and Greg Salas can provide that for them. Greg Salas may not have blazing speed but he is a play maker, has good hands, aggressive, not easy to bring down , make plays out of nothing, play like he has to prove something, and solid route runner.
Highlights of Salas here
Round 5: No. 165 S Ahmad Black, Ht:5’10", Wt:184,School: Florida
The Ravens may have a need in the safety position because it’s not a guarantee that Dawan Landry will be back. Ahmad Black can be physical, tackle hard, good in coverage, can play in the nickel/dime package, has above average instinct, and provide leadership. The Ravens secondary coach Teryl Austin was Ahmad Black's defensive coordinator in college and it would be good for them to have reunion and help Black advance his play making abilities.
Highlights of Black here
Round 6: No. 175 C/G Ryan Bartholomew, Ht: 6’1", Wt: 302, School: Syracuse
Highlights of Bartholomew here
Round 6: No. 186 OLB/DE Bruce Miller, Ht: 6’1", Wt: 254, School: Central Florida
I keep seeing people talking about outside linebacker/defensive end Justin Houston, Brooks Reed, Von Miller, etc., but nobody is talking about Bruce Miller. Bruce Miller has a nonstop motor, good in the pass rush, notched 8 sacks last year, notched 13 ½ tackles for loss, notched two force fumbles, two interceptions and has good work ethics. Bruce Miller could be a steal for the Ravens and could be effective pass rusher for third down situations or more.
Highlights of Miller here and here
Round 7: No. 215 RB Anthony Allen, Ht: 6’1", Wt: 228, School: Georgia Tech
The Ravens are going to need to add some depth in the running back position because they could be losing LeRon McClain and Willis McGahee this year. Anthony Allen is a big back, explosive, solid receiver out of the backfield, not easy to bring down once tackled, can run up the middle/inside, physical, and a solid run blocker. Anthony Allen has all the tools to be a good power running back and goal line threat like Willis McGahee.
Jaz Baltimore Ravens Mock Draft
Hello Ravens Fans. I have constructed my first mock draft and it would be made as if Jared Gaither, Chris Carr, Josh Wilson, Sergio Kindle, and Dawan Landry will all be playing for the Ravens this season. In my mock draft I have the Ravens trading out of the first round because the patriots provide them with an offer they can’t refuse, which is a trade for the Ravens # 26 first rounds pick for their # 33 & #60 in the second round.
Welcome to Jaz Baltimore Ravens Mock Draft
Second Round:
Pick# 33- WR Leonard Hankerson Ht: 6-3,Wt: 205, School: Miami
Leonard Hankerson will be the Ravens first pick in the second round and I know some probably would expect a defensive player but this year the draft is full of defensive talent. Leonard Hankerson provides just about everything the Ravens want in a receiver with his good speed, height, good hands, and ability to be a vertical threat. The Ravens just cannot pass up on him and finally they get their wide receiver they been dreaming of.
Pick#58-De/Olb Brooks Reed Ht: 6-3, Wt 255, School: Arizonia
Pick#58: Brooks Reed is a player that has a lot of upside, non stop motor, and can be very aggressive. Brooks Reed stock has been rising lately and has been compared to Clay Matthew (I think more because of his hair) because of how the way he plays. Brooks Reed has very good pass rush skills and The Ravens may have Sergio Kindle but you can never have too many good pass rushers.
Pick#60- C/G Tim Barnes Ht: 6-4, Wt: 310, School: Missouri
The Ravens still have center Matt Birk but it’s no telling if he may retire after this year. Tim Barnes is considered to be a very good center that is very smart, athletic, solid pass protector, solid foot work/agility, and etc. Tim Barnes could can also play guard and the Ravens love O-linemen that can be versatile; with this pick he can provide much depth for the Ravens in the interior O-linemen position.
Third Round:
Pick#90-CB Ras I Dowling- Ht: 6-2, Wt: 205, School: Virginia
The Ravens select Ras I Dowling and finally draft a cornerback with a height of 6’2”. Ras- I- Dowling has all the tools to become a very good cornerback in this league and becoming the next shut down cornerback in due time. Ras-I-Dowling will be considered a steal for the Ravens because he has first round quality but the injuries he recently have been going has dropped his stock this far.
Fourth round;
Pick# 122- Olb/Ilb Mark Herzlich 6-4 238, School: Boston College
Mark Herzlich is said to be emotional leader on field and what could be better then to have him learn from the best linebacker of all time/ emotional leader Ray Lewis. Mark Herzlich doesn’t have speed like a Bart Scott/Tavares Gooden but he makes that up with good instinct. Ray Lewis/Ed Reed play with good instinct and we all know good instincts leads to a player become a playmaker
Sixth Round:
Pick#184- FB Henry Hynoski Ht: 6-2 Wt: 262 , School: Pittsburgh
Head Coach John Harbuagh clearly stated he wants to have a big physical fullback that could run the ball a little bit, run routes, and pass protect. Henry Hypnosis could provide just about everything John Harbaugh is looking for and probably become the next Lorenzo Neal.
Pick#186:- WR Ricardo Lockette Ht199 6-3 School: Fort Valley State
Ricardo Lockette could provide the Ravens with blazing speed and its was reported that he was the second fastest player to Run the 40 yard dash at the NFL Combine. Ricardo Lockette could provide depth for the Ravens at the kick returner/punt returner position and provide the Ravens with a speedy vertical threat.
Seventh Round:
Pick# 217-T David Mims Ht: 6-8, Wt: 348, School: Virginia
David Mims has all the totals to be a successful right tackle/left tackle and some may consider him a project player but in my opinion every player coming from the draft needs some kind of help by coaches. David Mims plays aggressive, has good strength, good run blocker, long arms, and has good size; The Ravens lack an aggressive o-line last year and I’m sure they are still looking for that next Jonathan Ogden but with this selection they may have a steal on their hands.

The Perfect player for The Ravens Secondary In This Year Draft
The Ravens secondary is considered to be a big need to address in this year draft and it has been plenty of mock drafts having The Ravens taking a cornerback/safety in the first round .I personally don't see the secondary as a major concern if players such as Chris Carr, Dawan Landry, and Josh Wilson are re-signed; The Ravens in my eyes don't need address the secondary right away in the draft but if they should select a player then I think it should be Virginia cornerback Ras-I Dowling.
Ras-I Dowling has good height (6'2" to be exact), good coverage skills, good speed to match against any wide reciver in the league, leadership, good character, keep the team first attitude, ability to play safety, and he can tackle. Ras-I Dowling could have easily been consider a first round talent in this year draft but injuries doing his senior year/combine has hurt his stock to being second/third rounder.
I recently saw a video of Ras-I Dowling speaking about his passion of football and etc; I must say that I was blown away because it was as if it was Ray Lewis speaking and the way he spoke on certain things it made me think that this guy has to be a Raven. Ras- I Dowling has the tools to be a shutdown cornerback and some teams may be afraid to take a risk on him because of the recent injuries he has been going through but it may be a blessing in disguise for him to land right into the hands of The Ravens.
If you want to see the video I spoke about please click here
Big Name Players Have Hit The Free Agent Market!!!
Recently there has been news that the Indianapolis Colts have released two time pro bowler safety Bob Sanders and The St. Louis Rams have released Safety O.J.Atogwe their most valuable player in 2008.The free agent market for secondary players should look interesting for teams that are looking for a player that could make a impact right away to improve their secondary. The free agent market currently looks like it will have big name secondary players such as Bob Sanders, O.J Atogwe, Champ Bailey, and Nnamdi Asomugha.
The Baltimore Ravens may have some interesting options to choose within the free agent market. Raven Fans what player you think the Ravens should take in consideration in signing to their team? Do you think that the possibility of such transaction can happen with the signing of one these players? Or Should the Ravens just keep their focus on the draft and worry about such things later?
No Faith In Joe!!!
During the Super Bowl I decided to go to the Steelers fans blog site called BehindTheSteelCurtain.com and I was expecting to see the Steelers fans upset/ sad because The Green Bay Packers were ahead on the scoring board. The Steelers fans were just the opposite and they seemed very optimistic but what stood out the most to me is that they kept faith in their quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Joe Flacco has done great things for the Ravens for the past three years but if he was placed in the same situation that Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was in, I really don’t think it would be many Ravens fans here on Baltimore Beatdown displaying much optimism. I am not saying that all Ravens fans don't have faith In Joe Flacco but it seems the faith that Ben Roethlisberger gets from his fans is very different from the faith that we Ravens fans have for Joe Flacco.
I truly believe the Baltimore Ravens coaching staff doesn’t have faith In Joe Flacco at times and such things can hold a player back from their true potential. The Offensive Coordinator has to have faith in his quarterback to be able to feel comfortable with what ever play he calls for the Offense to do; If the faith isn’t there then you not going to see beyond average play calling but instead see play calling that seems predictable and receive negative results from your offense.
Joe Flacco has shown many times that he can indeed get it done if given the chance but Joe Flacco can only excel if the chains comes off from the offensive coaching staff. Joe Flacco will be going into his fourth year as The Ravens quarterback and so far he has improve much since his rookie year but this time The Ravens Coaching staff will have to let him free and keep the faith that he can lead this team to success. Joe Flacco seems to be getting the baby treatment and I could be wrong but if I’m right then it’s time for it to stop and allow this player to truly show what he has.
Should The Ravens Think About Calling Up Mark Clayton?
Mark Clayton is due to be a free agent this year and I know we traded him to The St.Louis Rams last year but wouldn't it be a good idea to sign him back to our team? Mark Clayton has good speed, good hands, he knows the Ravens offense, and he is still young. The Ravens should still draft a wide-out in this year draft but believe it or not its not guaranteed that the rookie wide-out will be a instant impact like a Dez Bryant,Mike Williams, and etc.
Joe Flacco does need new weapons to grow with but chemistry doesn't happen over night and why not bring somebody that he is truly familiar with and can still grow with at the same time. Chemistry is very important to have when you have a team working towards one goal and Mark Clayton for sure has chemistry with players on this offense and he knows playbook of the Ravens offense.
2011 Wide Receiver Draft Prospects That I Believe Could Benefit The Ravens
WR Torrey Smith
Height: 6’1
Weight: 205Ibs
School: University of Maryland
Torrey Smith is a wide out with blazing speed and has had his best year in 2010 gaining 67 receptions with 1,055 receiving yards. Torrey Smith cannot only play a role on the offensive side of the ball but as well play in special teams as a kick returner, where he had averaged 25.9 yards per kick returns also returning two for a touchdown in 2009. Torrey Smith is projected to be taking in the second round but for teams desperate to have a deep vertical threat he could be taken in the first round. The Ravens could use a player like Torrey Smith because he extremely fast, has good hands, and can bring some value to the kick return position if David Reed gets hurt/gets more involved in the offense.
Highlights of Torrey Smith click here
WR Titus Young
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 175Ibs
School: Boise State
Titus Young like Torrey Smith is very fast and can play on special teams as a kick returner. Titus Young has good hands, solid route running, and the ability to make plays every time he gets the ball, gaining 71 receptions with 1,216 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns in 2010. Titus Young has been compared to NFL Receivers such as Santana Moss, DeSean Jackson, and Mike Wallace; I believe if he is available in the second round the Ravens should draft him because he can give the Ravens that vertical deep treat that they were lacking on the field last year also possibly be a replacement for Derrick Mason once he retires.
Highlights of Titus Young click here
WR Greg Little
Height: 6’3
Weight: 220Ibs
School: North Carolina
Greg little was a running back but in 2009 he was converted in to a wide receiver gaining 61 receptions and 724 receiving yards. Greg Little performance in 2009 was impressive for being a first time wide receiver and unfortunately he wasn’t able to show in 2010 how much he improve because he was suspended. Greg little has good speed, very physical, tough to bring down, good hands, able to jump high for high passes, and is a good blocker. Greg Little seems to fit what the Ravens love and that’s tough and physical players; his skills as a wide out may not be considered polished at the moment but he still could be steal in the third/forth round of the draft.
Highlights of Greg Little Click Here
WR Dwayne Harris
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 205Ibs
School: East Carolina
Dwayne Harris is a wide out with good hands, good speed, very physical, and hard to bring down when opposing defensive players go to tackle him. Dwayne Harris Playing style seems similar to Anquan Boldin with his toughness and some experience as being a quarterback; He can work the middle of the field, has a good burst off the line of scrimmage, gets good yards after the catch, can be dangerous as a punt returner, and gets good separation when up against man coverage .If the Ravens were to draft Dwayne Harris he would provide some good depth at the punt return position and could become a very reliable third/forth wide out.Dwayne Harris is projected to be taken in the third/forth round and I believe whatever team picks him could have a player that would be a impact to their team right away.
Highlights of Dwanye Harris Click Here
WR Leonard Hankerson
Height:6’3”
Weight: 205Ibs
School: Miami
Leonard Hankerson has good size, speed, route running, great leaping ability, and body control. Leonard Hankerson has been making noise lately with his performance at the senior bowl and you can tell that he has all the skills to be a great wide out in The NFL; In 2010 he had 72 reception with 1,156 receiving yards and 13 touchdown also he broke the record of former wide out/hall of famer Michael Irvin for most touchdowns catches in a single season as a Miami Hurricane. Leonard Hankerson is projected to be taken in the second round and if the Ravens are able to draft him then the Ravens offense could be dangerous.
Highlights of Leonard Hankerson click here
WR DeAndre Brown
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 239Ibs
School: Southern Mississippi
DeAndre Brown has all you could ever want from a wide out with his speed, good hands, toughness, leaping ability, and size. DeAndre Brown best year was in 2008 gaining 67 receptions, 1,117 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns but since then his production has falling; DeAndre Brown could had been acknowledge as one of the top wide out coming out of college to this year draft but injuries and work ethics/character issues has held him back. The Ravens could draft Deandre Brown because he has great potentials to be a dynamic player but I see him going in the later rounds such as the fifth/sixth round in the draft.
Highlights of DeAndre Brown Click here
WR Randall Cobb
Height: 5’11
Weight: 186Ibs
School: Kentucky
Randall Cobb is very versatile player that has played Quarterback, Wide out, and Running back. Randall Cobb is very elusive in open field, great runner after the catch, and can play on special teams as kick returner/punt returner. Randall Cobb gained 84 receptions, 1,017 receiving yards, 7 touch downs, had 55 rushing attempts, 424 rushing yards, 58 passing yards, and 3 passing touchdowns. Randall Cobb could be taking in the third round of the draft but if The Ravens are around to get him imagine how he could be used on our offense such as the wildcat, as a running back, the slot, the screen, and let’s not forget he can be used on special teams where he could be kick returner or punt returner.
Highlights of Randall Cobb click here
WR Jerrel Jernigan
Height: 5’9
Weight: 190Ibs
School: Troy
Jerrel Jernigan is one of the fastest wide out coming out of college to the draft with good hands, instant acceleration, and quarterback experience. Jerrel Jernigan is also a physical player that can make things happen once he has the ball in his hand also he can be used in the wild cat as a quarterback or a runningback. Jerrel Jernigan gained 84 receptions, 822 receiving yards, six touchdowns, 45 rushing attempts,322 rushing yards,3 touchdowns, 41 passing yards, and passing one touchdown. I highly believe if The Ravens draft this player he will give them everything they need and won’t disappoint but some people may over look him because of his height but don’t let that fool you. I think Jerrel Jernigan maybe taken in the third round of the draft.
Highlights of Jerrel Jeringan click here

Ravens Quarterback Coach Jim Zorn Has Been Fired!!!!
First year Ravens Quarterback Coach Jim Zorn has been recently fired by The Baltimore Ravens. The transactions comes to some sort of a surprise because he only had only one season under his belt with The Ravens and Joe Flacco numbers/ quarterback ratings were high this season.
The move to fried quarterback coach Jim Zorn would be an understandable move because his philosophy comes from a west coast offense and Ravens offense currently uses something that is totally opposite. Ravens fans/media did suggest maybe it would be best for The Ravens offense to adjust to a west coast offense but it seems that will not be happening.
Joe Flacco yet again will be having a new quarterback coach to learn from and hopefully it will benefit him more to reach the potentials to be an elite quarterback. Baltimore Ravens fans I would like to get your feedback on rather Baltimore Ravens decision to part ways with Jim Zorn a good idea or a bad idea?
One of The Best Cornerbacks In The NFL Is Now A Free Agent !!!!
Oakland Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha is now a free agent and it's not clear if the Raiders are planning to re-sign/franchise tag him to keep their best cornerback on their team. Nnamdi Asomugha is well known as one of the shutdown cornerbacks in the NFL and because of that not to many quarterbacks throw to his direction; Nnamdi Asomugha's stats this year weren’t impressive with nineteen tackles, zero interceptions, zero sacks, and six pass deflections.
Asomugha's contract was voided because he didn't meet the standards to the incentives that came with his contract this year. Nnamdi will see lots of attention this off-season as a free agent and it may include attention from the Ravens.
For more infromation about cornerback Nnamdi Assomugha hitting free agency click here.
Ravens 2009 Offense Is Better Than Ravens Offense Today!!!
The Ravens Offense in 2009 may not have had big potential talent as The Ravens offense has now but it had something more valuable and that is chemistry. The Ravens offense today lacks chemistry and it seems that this is the reason why it’s not good consistently; The Ravens offense today may have great talented players but if the chemistry is not there then you not going to get much production, which leads to good play calling looking like bad play calling.
The Ravens offense overall have the talents to reach to the super bowl but such goals can only be met if the offense can gain that consistent chemistry for sixty minutes of football; If The Ravens offense gain consistent chemistry then this leads to more of the defenses getting a break and staying consistent with making big plays. I have faith that this team can get this accomplish because it has shown spark in previous games but the question is when?
Ravens Fans let’s hope that this chemistry manifest for this up incoming playoff game against The Kansas City Chiefs and also have faith that we will.
Goooooo Ravens

How Dare You Raven Fans?
The Ravens in the last two years have been to the playoffs under Coach John Harbaugh wining three out of two playoff games. Raven fans for years have been waiting for a good quarterback/better offense to back up our great defense and now that we finally have a good offense it seems there nothing but complaints from Ravens fans.
The Ravens have one of the best offensive coordinators in the league who sometimes call plays that are questionable. Offensive Coordinator Cam Cameron is the same offensive coordinator that has turn this offense from below average to good but Ravens fans still complain. The Ravens defense lost Defensive Coordinator Rex Ryan a year ago but still was rank top five defenses in the NFL last year. Defensive Coordinator Greg Mattson is the same defensive coordinator that was playing calling in the playoffs last year when The Ravens completely dominated The New England Patriots in their home stadium.
The Ravens have given Ravens fans so much spark of hope for the last two years and now have a record of 9-4 working ahead to another playoff berth; Ravens fan can only reply with fired Coach John Harbaugh, Offensive Coordinator Cam Cameron, Defensive Coordinator Greg Mattson and also bench quarterback Joe Flacco. The Ravens Overall may not be up to expectation as Ravens fans may hope but the season is not over and the last thing we need to do is turn against those that has help this team get so far this year.I have faith that this team will get things together because we are the Ravens and the only thing can beat us is us.
