What should Miami do with the #1 pick?
This pick (obviously) has a lot of ramifications on the rest of the draft. Personally, I would select Jake Long. Everyone says he graded out very similar to Joe Thomas, who helped turn around a previously horrible team. I dont think it is smart to take a qb #1 when there is little to no supporting cast around him, especially this year. Matt Ryan should be a starting qb, but not right away and he shouldnt be asked to carry a team for the basement to the playoffs. I say Jake Long and let him anchor the o-line and build around young players like him, Beck, Ronnie Brown, and teddy ginn.
My plan for FA/Draft
I think this is the best course of action for the Bears this offseason:
- Sign Maurice Williams to be your starting RT
- Sign DJ Hackett to be a starting WR
- Draft Mendenhall at the 14 (we've all seen how an impact skill position player can come in and dominate right away)
- Should brohm slip to the back of round 1, the Bears ought to package their 2, a 3, and next year's 3 and move up for Brhom
- If Brohm is not available, take Flacco in the 2nd.
- Take a WR in the 3rd (Andre Caldwell, Jordy Nelson)
- Take a developmental OL prospect with the other 3rd rounder or a safety
Showing 1 - 2 of 2
