Windy City Gridiron What should Miami do with the #1 pick?

This pick (obviously) has a lot of ramifications on the rest of the draft. Personally, I would select Jake Long. Everyone says he graded out very similar to Joe Thomas, who helped turn around a previously horrible team. I dont think it is smart to take a qb #1 when there is little to no supporting cast around him, especially this year. Matt Ryan should be a starting qb, but not right away and he shouldnt be asked to carry a team for the basement to the playoffs. I say Jake Long and let him anchor the o-line and build around young players like him, Beck, Ronnie Brown, and teddy ginn.

Windy City Gridiron My plan for FA/Draft

I think this is the best course of action for the Bears this offseason:

  1. Sign Maurice Williams to be your starting RT
  2. Sign DJ Hackett to be a starting WR
  3. Draft Mendenhall at the 14 (we've all seen how an impact skill position player can come in and dominate right away)
  4. Should brohm slip to the back of round 1, the Bears ought to package their 2, a 3, and next year's 3 and move up for Brhom
  5. If Brohm is not available, take Flacco in the 2nd.
  6. Take a WR in the 3rd (Andre Caldwell, Jordy Nelson)
  7. Take a developmental OL prospect with the other 3rd rounder or a safety
