In all reality I'm sure the Cubs have no interest whatsoever...but he does hit LH, hopefully this DOES NOT excite Lou.

Crede Signs with Twins

According to mlbtr.com, the Twins have signed Joe Crede...

Mark Gonzales of The Chicago Tribune cites "a major league source" who says that Crede and the Twins have agreed to terms. No details of the contract were available.

I assume this is on a 1 year deal and I like it for the Twins. I'm from MN and get to see these guys play a lot, and while I hate the term, "second favorite team", growing up here thats what I would have to call them. If he can play a whole season, he could provide a much needed bat in between Mauer and Morneau and also help that infield regain the defensive prowess it once had. Go Twins!!!...unless they are playing the Cubs.

BTW, does not bother me that he was a southsider in any way.

Apparently they've reached an agreement. I really wanted Dunn, I wonder what the $$ looks like here.

Do we want Jimmy Ballgame back?

I just stubled across the following on everyone's favorite website, an Olney article.

There was talk after the Cubs were knocked out of the playoffs that center fielder Jim Edmonds, a borderline Hall of Fame candidate, might have played his last game. But his agent, Paul Cohen, said Friday evening that Edmonds fully intends to play next season.

"He's definitely coming back," Cohen said. "The way he finished up, why wouldn't he?"

I know I may be alone here, but I for one would love to have him back...at the right price. I know we have to figure out what to do with Dome, and the plans seem to be for him to take over Edmonds platoon role, but I would much rather have Jimmy out there against a righty. I believe someone had posted Dome's splits before and it wasn't like he was mashing with a righty on the mound.

What does everyone think?

Trade possibility?

Over at MLBTR they list the Cubbies as being a possible trade partner for the Fathers if they try to move Khalil Greene. Given the obvious availability of Cedeno, if the Byrd deal happens with something like Byrd and a prospect for Murton, would it be enough to flip that prospect (or another depending on what the Pads want) + Cedeno for Greene? It would give the Cubs the right handed platoon in CF they are already discussing, and a upgrade at short. Essentially it would be Murton/Cedeno for Byrd/Greene in a round a bout way, any thoughts?
