Hirsh to start Monday night...

While I have see no announcement from the team, the official website has Hirsh listed as tomorrow's probable pitcher. He has gotta do better than Kip Wells, right?

I have always considered Cook one of my favorite Rockies, but maybe that is because he is a fellow ginger. I know that one day he will be controlling the world with Ron Howard, Simon Pegg and myself. That is why I have always had a soft spot for him and his sinkerball.

Anyway, I have started to notice a trend with our (so far) only good pitcher, and I decided to do some number crunching to see if I had a valid point. The trend being that Cook seems to have most of the damage done to him in the first couple of innings, and then he buckles down and cruises for the rest of the game. While the numbers I came up with weren't as drastically different as I thought the might be, they still do somewhat validate my point.

First two innings- 3.00 ERA, 1.583 WHIP, 3.00 K/9

Rest of game- 2.17 ERA, 0.965 WHIP, 4.97 K/9

It is worth ponting out that all three of Cook's unearned runs came within the first two innings as well.

And no, I have nothing to do better on a Wedensday night that sit around and crunch numbers while I drink Tom Collinses. (Is that the correct plural for a Tom Collins?)

O.T.: Denver sports Mount Rushmore

Watching the return of Peter Forseberg last night, one of the Altitude broadcasters said that Peter Forsberg would be on the Denver sports Mount Rushmore. I'm not so sure that I agree with that. I figured this would be a good place to get some other opions, assuming that a lot of the Rockies fans here are also fans of the other Denver sports teams.

If there was a Denver sports Mount Rushmore, we would have to assume there were two rules:

One represenative from each of the Major Sports teams.
John Elway is the Broncos represenative. Not having him there would just be stupid.

After Elway, though, there is much room for debate. With the Rockies cases could be made for Todd Helton, Larry Walker, and maybe even Dante Bichette or Andres Gallarraga.

The Avalanche player is even harder to pick. Forsberg seems like a decent choice, but Joe Sakic is Mr. Avalanche and has played far more games in Denver than Forsberg. You can't count out Patrick Roy either. He was one of the best goalies ever, and I'm not sure either of those Stanley Cups happen without him. He also holds the record for most wins by a goalie, by almost a hundred if I am not mistaken.

The Nuggets player seems to be the hardest to pick. Some might say Mutumbo. Some might say Carmelo Anthony, but you think he should win a playoff series before he could even be considered. I think the front runner would be Alex English. He is the Nuggets scoring and assist leader, plus he has his number retired and is in the Basketball Hall of Fame. He was the NBA's leading scorer in the 1980s and the first player in NBA history to score 2,000 points in eight straight seasons.

Does anyone else think it is wierd that we will now be seeing him a lot next year in the visitors dugout? Will he make that big of a difference for the Dodgers? How do you think he will do? I'm guessing he does better than Grady Little, but thats not really saying much.
