Fangraphs ranking, the fallout, and historical revisionism
By now, you have probably seen the carnage on twitter regarding the Fangraphs organizational rankings. Specifically, the Front Office ranking within the overall evaluation. Dave Flemming fired the first shot across the bow
I respect @fangraphs immensely, but I STRONGLY disagree w ranking of Giants baseball ops as 27th out of 30 in baseball.
— Dave Flemming (@FlemmingDave) April 3, 2012
Giants have handed out some bad deals. They perhaps don't use same evaluation methodology as preferred by many.
— Dave Flemming (@FlemmingDave) April 3, 2012
But there is no credible argument no matter criteria that SFG front office is fourth-worst in the game.
— Dave Flemming (@FlemmingDave) April 3, 2012
An interesting exchange between Henry Schulman and Wendy Thurm ensued. I’ll skip the actual detailed exchange, but I will quote Henry’s final judgment on this topic :
Want an analytic to judge f.o.? Here are the two factors. One of you math whizzes can devise the formula. 1. Won-loss record adjusted by Injuries. 2. Payroll. (I guess that's 3 factors).
We’ve often heard the term “revisionist history” used in conversations, mostly in a negative light. What exactly is Historical revisionism?

Well, I haven't done one of these for awhile huh.
So the end of this season sucked. These things happen. Shit happens. I'm all for blaming Bochy and Sabean, Orlando Cabrera, and Aaron Rowand. But if you are tired of blaming everybody, at least I can offer you some solace more kicks in the ass in this short message.
The offseason sucks, but it is less than 5 months until Pitchers and catchers report. And I really think we can make another run at it in 2012.
In any case, hope this cheers you up. sufficiently depresses you.

If you don't have an offense
I'm not sure why I'm even bothering with this quick 30 seconds video. Everyone already knows exactly what I am saying, but hell, If you ever want to share your frustration with the world, this is the best way to do it. It's a facebook link right now because Vimeo takes 40 minutes to render, so I"ll get the higher resolution Vimeo one online soon.
In the meantime, let me tell you what it means if you don't have an offense.

The Juggernate - A story in motion
This was a video request by kdl. There isn't any fancy editing or photoshop. Pretty much a straight up video montage with a little intro added to it. Mostly because, well, it doesn't need it. The juggernate IS the main attraction and I think you will agree after watching it.
Enjoy the greatness. Hope there is way more to come. In the meantime, there is never a wrong reason to enjoy some UZR porn. It's great fun for the whole family.

A hat tip to Mr. Sullivan at the very end of this video. Thanks for the inspiration.
The Most Epic Giants Video Ever. Period.
Fair Warning : Watching this video may cause you to eat lightning and crap thunder.
I thought Episode two was my best work. I was wrong. This is A Tale of Two Cities -- Episode Three, but it really isn't. There was so much amazing that there simply wasn't room for story telling. This is just straight up awesomeness wrapped with Bacon, dipped in butter, and deep fried with gravy. That is how good this is.
I put in over a hundred hours into this project. I had an absolute blast. Hopefully, you will enjoy it as well. There is a special message at the end for all you non-Giants fans who just happen to read this site.
Anyways, Enjoy the video. Turn up the volume. Trust me. Don't forget to Rec this shit. It only takes one click.

Home Runs and Western Suns -- Part II
You've asked for it, you've waited for it, you've yearned for it. Now, it's here.
Inspired by the slashfic "Home Runs and Western Suns" by TheLetter2, part II of this critically acclaimed series explores how the relationship has transcended its original confines since the championship parade. The Giants have won it all, Huff and Burrell made it happen. And now, they are back together for another season, nether one willing to leave the other in this epic journey of castoffs and misfits.
So, I ask you : Do YOU believe in destiny?

Edit : If you have never seen the original video (Original Fanpost here), youtube deleted it awhile back citing MLB copyright. I've reuploaded it to vimeo below.

A Tale of Two Cities -- Episode Two
Behold, Episode Two.
I read all the suggestions from the previous thread carefully and made some changes. I think it flows a lot better this time. Also I realized that this was going to get over 500 megs and 25+ minutes if I do everything I want to do in Episode 2, so I am now going to make an episode three.
To me, this video should prove to be my pride and joy this year. I really feel good about this one, the way it was put together and the way it flows. I have not spent so much time on a video since the 2009 MCC video that took almost a month to make. My videos are always a little bit "different" than the others you will see. I want to add that personal touch to it, to make it uniquely mine. I don't have the source footage, the programming training, or the skillset of some of the Semi-pro or Pro video producers out there. What I can offer is my creativity and knowledge of this team and its fans. I try to create a unique bond between my video and its audience that can only be understood by Giants fans.
In any case, I hope you enjoy Episode Two. As Deckard Cain likes to say, "stay awhile and listen." Make sure you don't skip the credits. And again, episode three will (hopefully) be out during Christmas Break, and please do let me know what you like and what you don't like about this video. I'm always listening and always making adjustments. Episode Three will be the final episode to this story.

A Tale of Two Cities -- Episode One
When I started working on this video, I didn't think there was going to be multiple parts to it. I thought it was going to be a long, maybe 15 minutes project, trying out something new with an actual "storyline" and narrative to it.
As I started getting different ideas throughout the last few weeks, my storyboard expanded, so much so that in order to do everything I want to do, the video was going to take months to make, with over 1G of content (even after divx conversion, this episode is 250 mb). That wasn't going to fly.
I am going to cut some of the stuff reluctantly, perhaps recycle those ideas in a future release. In the end, I think I'm splitting this video into two parts. Well, I had to because Vimeo won't let me upload more than 500mb a week. I finally got around finishing episode one. (parts of episode two was done at the same time). I hope to have the second half of the video completed shortly, pending feedback on this one.
Please let me know if you don't like this "storyline - narrative" format. I will cut it out in episode two if that's the case. I am not a good voice actor, I know, so I won't take the criticism too hard. Just let me know and if a lot of people don't like it, I won't bore you all with it in the future.
If you would like to skip to the Giants hightlight part, fast forward to the 4 minutes mark. If this was a standard highlight video that I've done many times it would have started there.
Enjoy, and please remember, all feedbacks are welcome.

Beat. They. Ass.
Your best Photoshops this season -- link them here
I am trying to put together the 2010 MCC video, and is in search of the best photoshop (still, not animated) images, both game day and non game day, that was on the site this season.
I have my own that will go into the video, but I would appreciate some help if you would like to link your best works in this thread (or link somebody else's that you were impressed by).
I'll start with some of my examples

Posey, My Son
First of all, I apologize for the narrative in this one. I, unfortunately, don't have a good trailer voice or an awesome british accent. As a result, I was not able to edit out the word "Lorderon". Oh well.
I've been wanting to do this video for a couple of weeks now, but I didn't want to jinx anything regarding the playoffs. Today was sort of a passing of the torch, and with one swing of the bat and one leap into Brian Wilson's arms, The Buster Posey era has officially begun in San Francisco.
This is officially the closing of the Barry Bonds era, and the beginning of the Buster Posey era. We have a new face of the franchise, and, hopefully, he will be with us for the next 15 years.

A Call To Arms
Pennant Fever. Imagine that.
This weekend is going to be wild beyond believe. It's been 7 years since this town has had a NL West champion. Steve Finley's grand slam in 2004 seemingly knocked the Giants into oblivion, rendered irrelevant, and when Bonds retired, there was seemingly no reason to watch other than to catch the occasional Lincecum start.
Well, that electric feeling from 2002 is back. The crowd is different, the faces are different, but the energy is all the same. Fans were chanting "Lets Go Giants" all the way down the ramp at the conclusion of the game, and Townsend street is buzzing with anticipation for that which cannot be said right now.
Three games lead. Three games to go. The San Diego Padres is all that stands between the Giants and the post season. It's been far too long. This town is hungry for a winner, and they deserve one.
Let's do this thing. The password, as usual, is jctgamer,

Maverick and Iceman
We received a distress call 72 hours ago.
The Colorado Rockies have won 10 games in a row and is threatening to take over first place in the National League West. Osama Bin Dinger Hussein, the elusive head of the terrorist group, is planning a repeat of the shenanigans from years past. These men are armed with the humidor, and can come back form any deficit, any situation, against any pitcher.
The Secretary of defense and President "duke" Neukom have authorized the use of deadly force. Gentlemen, this is not a drill. This is the real deal. Only the best of the best of the best can dissolve this situation, and that is why you are here today. The Passcode for the operation is "jctgamer". Good luck, and Godspeed.

Home Runs and Western Suns : The Video
Well then.
The original fanpost is gone, but the spirit lives on. (Edit : here is its new location : http://2theletter.livejournal.com/514.html) When I read it, it reminded me a lot of Gary Tsao's original song : "You are the world's one and only". I did not realize the fanpost is gone until I started working on the video, this was supposed to supplement it, but now I guess I will put up its own fanpost.
Please, Please Please do not take this video seriously. Like most of my videos, this is a parody of sorts. If you insist on taking this seriously, well, don't read any further and don't watch the video.
I give you -- Home Runs, and Western Suns : The Video.
