Liberty Ballers Breaking down Evan Turner's game against the Bucks

So I was taking notes during the game tonight on Evan Turner. I noted what Turner did on every offensive possession while he was on the court. All of us would love to see Turner be more aggressive when he has the ball. Tonight was a lot of the same. Even though he was very efficient with the ball (4-6 shooting, 6 assists) he did not drive to the bucket once (to my knowledge). That is pretty disappointing considering he was on the floor for 52 offensive possessions (on my count). More after the jump.

Mocking The Draft Team needs for 2011 NFL Draft

I know it is really early into the 2010 NFL season, but the draft is always on my mind, I can't help it. I am a die-hard Eagles fan and I always try to re-watch their games to see who played well and who played poorly. I have an early list of positions that could use some improvement, which I will list after the jump, but I wanted to know if you guys have done this yet and if so, which positions you would like to see your team improve.

A couple other questions for you guys:

1) How have your team's first round picks done so far?

2) Have any of your team's draft picks surprised you or disappointed you so far?

3) What was your reaction to your team's first round pick? Happy? Mad? Confused? etc.

Acme Packing Company Greetings from Bleeding Green Nation

Hey everybody! The first game of the season is exactly one week away and I am so excited to finally see everyone back out there gettin' at it. As all of you know, the Eagles and Packers are facing off in Philly for week 1. I pride myself on being a die hard yet realistic fan and I see you guys winning the game some what easily. I have the packers representing the NFC in the super bowl so I am not embarrassed to predict a week 1 loss for my Iggles. However I do have some questions for all of you regarding your team and I would be more than happy to answer any questions that you have for me about the Eagles.

Maize n Brew Hello from Bleeding Green Nation

Hey everyone, longtime Philadelphia Eagles fan here from BGN. As all of you know, the Eagles traded up to the 13th pick in last months NFL draft to acquire Brandon Graham. I made a fanpost on Bleeding Green Nation back in September saying that I thought the Eagles would draft him in the first round and everyone laughed at me. I was so happy when we picked him and I think he is going to do wonders for our defense. I just have a couple questions about the promising young star.

Bleeding Green Nation 2010 Red-Zone offense

This is something I am very excited about for the upcoming season. I think Kevin will make a big difference in this category with the timing throws as well as the possibility of using a fade route, that would certainly be something different. But the thing I am the most excited for is the arsenal of new players we have at our disposal who can shine in the red-zone, along with those from last year.

Bleeding Green Nation How do our Team needs rank now?

Recently, the team has become more active making moves. Most recently we traded Chris Clemons and a 4th to the Seahawks for Darryl Tapp, which im pretty excited about, but we also cut Kevin Curtis, Darren Howard, Will Witherspoon and Shawn Andrews. So the FO obviously sees the need to get younger, faster, stronger, and more talented overall on both sides of the ball. So with that being said, what do you guys think is the order of positions in most need of help and who would you realistically like to see the eagles take in the draft?

Bleeding Green Nation Charles Scott shines at LSU pro day

The big bruising back had a great pro day, running a better 40-time, improving his vertical jump and even though he has a hurt shoulder, he still put up 17 reps on the bench press. In the article after the jump, they ask Scott which teams attended his pro day and who was he able to speak with after the workout. Apparently our RB coach, Ted Williams, showed some legitimate interest in the Big RB, while other coaches were just talking randomly with him.

Bleeding Green Nation Which do you value more ...

There was a story recently on the team's website stating that Jason La canfora said that the Eagles havent made any calls about their quarterbacks to any teams. Then the point about the Seahawks being interested in Kolb was brought up and La Canfora said that the birds haven't presented any counter-offers or told teams what it would take to get Kolb or any of the QB's on our roster. Then he said this ...

Speaking to "people who have engaged with the Eagles," La Canfora said that ""their sense of the situation"" is that it would take at least a second-round pick for a team to pry away Michael Vick. For Donovan McNabb, "it would take at least a first-round pick to start any real cogent discussions." And Kolb? "It would probably take both of (Seattle's) number one picks to get that deal done. That's how serious they are about Kevin Kolb being a part of their future."

I wasn't really surprised that teams said they thought it would take at least a 1st to get Donovan, but i was surprised about the other two. I don't think it is very realistic for FO to think that a team is gonna give up their 2nd for Vick. Maybe their thinking a QB needy team will get desperate or a team will need a QB due to injury, whatever the case is, I think the absolute best we could get for Vick would be a 3rd. We already knew that the organization was serious about Kolb but this story just shows how highly they think of him.

Then I started thinking. If I was the man who had the power to accept or veto trade offers and Seattle came to me and said "We'll give you our 6th pick and 14th pick for Kevin Kolb" I would seriously consider it and right now im leaning towards accepting it. That trade would give us 2 top 15 prospects and our original 24th overall pick and we would have 6 of the top 100 picks in the draft. I want know what you guys think of this idea. I know realistically there is about a .001 percent chance of this actually happening, but if you could accept or decline trade offers would you trade Kolb for the 6th and 14th pick in the upcoming draft?

Bleeding Green Nation Draft Wishlist

With 44 days left until the 2010 NFL draft im starting to compile my wish list of players i would love to see in midnight green. Of course there are the obvious and unrealistic wishes such as berry, suh, and mccoy, however this is one of the deepest drafts in recent memory and I think that we could easily come out of the draft with 1 or 2 maybe even 3 players that will start in their rookie year.

Bleeding Green Nation I found this pretty interesting ...

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/03/nfl-combine-40-times-show_n_483766.html

this link is showing that the 40 times at the combine may be incorrect, specifically that taylor mays' time is actually about .09 seconds off. Im not saying that all the times are incorrect but it makes you question how valid all of the other times are. Its also pretty scary that mays is running the same time as a guy thats about 5'5 165 pounds. He pretty well in his positional drills and very well in his general drills. I guess it made me feel a little bit better about him maybe he can be taught the correct way to cover people and read routes but i am still skeptical about it. Either way i think he will be gone by the 24th pick just because of his 40 time.

Daily Norseman Hello from Bleeding Green Nation

I am a die hard Eagles fan and considering that my offseason has started I have been looking for players who will be FA's or RFA's at the end of this season. The position that I believe is the most important to address this offseason is the LDE spot and finally get someone who can be a consistent force opposite of Trent Cole. I noticed that Ray Edwards will be a FA or RFA at the end of this year and i just wanted to get some info on him.

Nfl-vikings-edwards-ray-91-away-2007-stockpic-and-jon-kitna-8_medium

First off I wanted to know if you guys expect the Vikings FO to re-sign him or is there someone behind him on the depth chart that will get a chance to start? Also is Edwards the type of player that could be a force every game? What are his strengths and weaknesses? Is Edwards an every-down lineman or is he a player that needs to rotate in and out throughout the game?

... oh yeah one more thing ...

PLEASE CRUSH THE COWBOYS!!!

Bleeding Green Nation Ladies and Gentlemen ... welcome to the offseason ...

This is a sad/frustrated/disappointed/hungover day for all of us as we got embarrassed again. It will certainly be a long offseason as we had such a promising regular season but just couldn't put it together when it mattered most. That being said there are many things we will need to go in and fix during the offseason.

Cincy Jungle Hello from Bleeding Green Nation

What's up Bengals fans, Eagles fan here from Bleeding Green Nation and was hoping you guys could shed some light on something that has had me confused all year. Why did we sign Stacy Andrews to a 6 year $38 million contract????

Picture_3_medium

I understand the fact that Stacy and Shawn are brothers and maybe it would help motivate Shawn and get him out of his depression, but we gave Stacy a pretty big contract. The Eagles have been one of the best teams in terms of signing players and replacing talent, but this signing doesnt look so great so far. I know its his first year, and he had ACL surgery in the offseason, but it makes me scratch my head when i just saw that Stacy is on the inactive list for tonight's game and he was starting last week. So I just wanted to know if Stacy ever played at a level that would get him a 6 year 38 million dollar contract or did the Eagles front office make a big mistake?

Bleeding Green Nation My beloved Eagles

Over the past few weeks a lot of the talk around Eagles fans has been up and down. Many fans are unhappy and know that this team can play MUCH better than it has been. Overall, I'm really happy we won our first division game in a rough stretch of games coming up, but for some reason I, along with a lot of other fans im sure, continue to think about a lot of negative things that have happened so far this season.

After the Redskins game I was thinking to myself and realized that it would not be as fun as it is to be an Eagles fan if it wasn't for all of the ups and downs that come with any NFL season. Eagles fans are always considered to be among the most diehard fans of any city in the country. This post is dedicated to hearing all the stories of how us eagle faithful became so dedicated to our beloved Eagles.

I can remember it like it was yesterday. I was hanging out with my best friend who has always been a diehard eagles fan and he asked me if I wanted to come to next weeks game with him, his brother and his dad. I obviously said yes. At that time though, I would only consider myself a football fan, I loved football but never really followed one team. The game that my friend took me to was the first football game I had ever been too and I now consider myself blessed that the first game I ever attended was the 2003 divisional playoff game against the Packers that is now simply known as "4th & 26." I remember walking to my seat and being amazed by everything surrounding me. One of the things that always stuck with me after that game was how silent the stadium was when Akers was taking the kick to win the game, you could have heard someone cough from the other side of the stadium. Then suddenly the stadium erupted people hugging each other giving high fives and making the few packers fans that actually had the balls to show up to the Linc for a playoff game feel like crap. My life changed after that night and I have loved this team ever since.

Bleeding Green Nation I know its so early to be thinking about next years draft but ...

We all want a dominating force opposite Trent on the D-Line and i have been watchin a lot of the college games since the season started and in my opinion this guy has blown everyone else out of the water so far. Michigan DE #55 Brandon Graham, 6-3 272.

Bleeding Green Nation The Keys to Sunday's game

First I just wanted to say that I could not have imagined a better week one, aside from donovan getting hurt. Sean McDermott showed that he knows what he is doing and was groomed very well by JJ. One of the things I was thinking about during the game was if they were playing defense like that with Gaither in the middle, how good could they have been with Stew in the middle?  Before the game at carolina I thought Desean was gonna be a stud this year, after the game i think he is gonna be a MONSTER. He is so versatile and can hurt defenses and score points in so many ways.

Silver And Black Pride Saying hello from Bleeding Green Nation

Whats up Raider Nation im a member of the Eagles blog and just wanted to ask you guys a couple questions about your Linebackers.

The Eagles made a strong push defensively at the end of the regular season last year and finished 3rd in total defense, but there were still some things i would have liked to see from my team. The thing i wanted to see the most was more consistent play from our linebackers. We suffered a huge loss early in training camp when we lost Stewart Bradley for the year and i am pretty worried about how Joe Mays/Omar Gaither will fill in for him. As far as our outside linebackers go, akeem Jordan is our starting weak side linebacker and chris gocong is our starting strong side linebacker. Jordan started the last 6 games for us last year and played really well recording 44 tackles in the 6 starts and Gocong had a solid year but everytime i saw him play he was always getting beat in pass coverage.

The few times i have seen Kirk Morrison and Thomas Howard play, they have looked great. They post great numbers year in and year out, Morrison has started 63 consecutive games and Howard has started 47 out of 48 games he has played in. Both Kirk Morrison and Thomas Howard are in the last year of their contracts and was wondering if you guys think both of them will be re-signed, one of them, or neither, and who do you guys think is more important to keep.

Also i wanted to know how both of them play against the run and pass.

One more question, how have DHB and Michael Mitchell looked in training camp and preseason so far.

thanks

Bleeding Green Nation The Emergence of Bunkley and Patterson

Eagles fans know that both Brodrick Bunkley and Mike Patterson had very good years last year, but people who don't follow the team might not know that. They might not get the attention of defensive tackles such as Albert Haynesworth, or the Williams' Wall in minnesota but i think Bunkley and Patterson have the potential to be just as good.

Patterson1280x1024_medium

1) Mike Patterson has been a very good tackle for us since we drafted him. He uses perfect technique from the Tackle position and is always where he needs to be on plays. He is a good run stuffer but i would like to see him collapse the pocket a little more to flush the QB out to our ends or to get the sack. Overall i think he is a very good tackle but i don't think he will be ever a force.

Bunkley_gal_060429_medium

2) When we first drafted him he was a little overweight and it showed in his play, but he came back in his second year about 20-25 pounds lighter and his game improved dramatically. Last year was his best year and the defense as a whole was great. When comparing Bunkley to Patterson, Patterson is a tackle who might not make the big plays but plays with perfect technique every snap, while Bunkley might not play with the technique that Patterson displays but is definitely more explosive and has the ability to make big plays. I think that if Bunkley puts in the time and effort he has the potential to be a dominant DT in this league.

3) Last year when we played the giants at the meadow lands is when i saw how good our tackles can be. They basically shut down the run the whole game and made huge plays on 4th down to stop jacobs and stuff eli on the QB sneak. I think this year they can be even better and really get some attention from the rest of the league. What do you guys think of the play from our two tackles and how good do you think they can be?

what are your opinions regarding Bunkley and Patterson?

Bleeding Green Nation Chris Gocong's Future

520x_medium

Gocong is in the last year of his rookie contract and i have mixed feelings about him. I thought his first year starting at SAM was decent considering its not an easy position to play and i was looking forward to seeing him play last year and see the difference from year one to year two, but i didn't really see much of a difference. I think he is pretty good against the run and is a pretty good tackler, but i feel like he is always getting beat in pass coverage. Moise Fokou has been turning heads in training camp and been playing very very well in the preseason. I don't think Gocong's job is in jeopardy this year but i definitely believe that he needs to take the next step this year and become more of a playmaker if he wants to get re-signed, because Fokou will only get better and there are a TON of really really good OLB prospects in next years draft. I wanna know what u guys think of him and what you think the Eagles FO will do with him in the offseason.

he will have a good year and get re-signed

Bleeding Green Nation Kevin Curtis' future

Kevin_curtis_medium

via mysportsrumors.com

I don't know if it was just me or if other people who watched the eagles training camp live on PE.com also felt like kevin curtis wasn't looking that great. i wanted to know if you guys felt the same way and what you think his future is with the team considering how we are all of a sudden loaded at the WR position. He will be on the team this year obviously but his salary jumps from 2.3 million this year to 4.8 million next year and 5.7 million the year after that. Do you guys think the eagles will try to trade/ do something with him next year? and what do you guys think the chances are of brandon gibson making this team.

Bleeding Green Nation westbrook report from espn earlier today

everybody knows whats goin with westbrook, and i wish him a good and safe surgery and a speedy recovery, but everyone is throwing westbrook under the bus and saying that we are very thin at running back and we need to get a free agent such as edgerrin james or warrick dunn. i dont see us needing them at all. although mccoy is a rookie and booker didnt have a good season last year but i think mccoy will step in fine if we need him to at the beginning of the season. we also picked up a full back in the off season named Leonard "the face cleaver" Weaver who is a good runner and a good pass catching back as well.

Bleeding Green Nation Reggie Brown's situation

Reggie Brown's situation is one of the most interesting this offseason in my opinion. Last year Brown got kinda lost on the depth chart with his injury early in the season and ended up only starting 3 games the whole year, had career lows in catches, yards, and TD's. He had a very decent rookie year with 43 catches, 571 yards and 4TD's. He improved on those numbers in his second year by making 46 catches 816, 8 TD's and 17.7 yards/catch. He signed a 5 year extension in 2006 will have him in philly until 2014. He is listed as the second string WR behind desean jackson but last year brown didnt even make it on the field in 4 WR sets. Jason avant is a free agent after this year, Kevin Curtis' cap value jumps from 2.3 this year to 4.83 next year, and we have maclin in the wings who has all the tools to be a great player in this league. Let me know what you guys think is going to happen with brown and what u think possible situations are.

here is a link about brown on philly.com

will reggie brown want out
