SJ Giants: Who to watch?
Hello Minor League Baseball Fans,
I'll be going to see the little Giants play the Visalia Rawhides this upcoming weekend. This is probably my own ignorance, but I no longer recognize most of the names on the roster and would like to know who the big names are in this line-up. I see that Casilla is on the big Giant's 40 roster and I vaguely recall that Brown was a name during Spring Training, but I could be making that last bit up.
Just a quick question: who should I watch with the most attention?
Thanks for the help!
Comcast Spring Training Schedule
Hello all,
I e-mailed Comcast SportsNet Bay Area to see what their Spring Training schedule was going to be. The response is below. I know that it is only January, but I can not wait to see the boys again.

3/7 vs Texas at 6pm
3/12 vs LA Dodgers at 12pm
3/29 @ Oakland at 7pm
Still subject to change."

Territorial Rights
Hello everyone.
With all of the talk about the Giants territorial rights to the South Bay, I was wondering what that exactly meant. A quick use of google shows me stuff about TV blackouts, but other rights or restrictions apply? Besides not building a park in San Jose, what else can the A's not do there?
Can they not advertise? Sell T-shirts? Pour drinks at a downtown bar?
Can someone clue me in, please?
Thanks!

Q: I'm a big fan of the Giants and their young power pitcher Matt Cain. In light of his stellar pitching, yet sub-.500 record, can you name any other pitchers who have losing records and sub-4.00 ERAs?
— Joe DePage, Santa Cruz, Calif.A: Cain's tough luck surely is rare, Joe. He is 30-43 with a 3.74 ERA in three-plus seasons, due mostly to a continuing lack of run support. Keep in mind, though, that he pitches in a home park that is one of the strongest pitchers' parks in the game.
That said, no other active starting pitcher with at least three years experience meets your losing record/sub-4.00 ERA. The closest is Tampa Bay's Matt Garza (19-22, 4.02).
By comparison, here are a handful of other pitchers with similar experience to Cain (all in the drug-testing era, when runs are down a bit from the steroid era level): Justin Verlander (46-34, 4.11); John Maine (33-27, 4.18); Chein-Ming Wang (54-20, 3.79); James Shields (32-24, 3.96).
And trust me, there are many active pitchers with winning career records and ERAs above 4.00.
Historically, though, you can find examples to meet your criteria. Two eras come to mind — the 1960s, when average ERAs were in the low-threes, and then way back in the pre-Babe Ruth, deadball era at the beginning of the 20th century. The game was much different then than the one you watch today.
Those Sluggin' Giants...
Okay...I understand that no one predicts us to be a home run happy club this year. I also understand that this is only Spring Training and that many of the opposing pitchers are either minor leaguers or major leaguers trying to find their groove. I also understand that this is still really early in Spring Training.
But with that said, doesn't it seem like we're hitting a whole bunch of homers?
Two questions:
One, will this carry over into the real season?
Two, can anyone tell me how the other teams' home run records look like right now?
Thanks all!

I got this from the promotions guy at KNBR. He says that the site will be updated soon.
In the meanwhile, I apologize for the poor formatting.

A Meeting of the Minds
So...I understand that Barry Zito has invited Brian Wilson to spend the Winter break together. This is so odd: Zito is a Zen-practicing surfer who throws weak stuff that gets turned into game-winning hits and Wilson is a tattooed hulk of intensity who throws hard stuff that turns into a stomach-churning save.
Does anyone know more about this odd couple?
How it is that they decided to do this?
How it's turning out?
Will Zito turn into a Wilson-esque hulk or will Wilson turn also to Zen and softball?
