January Transfer Window Thread Redux

We are getting closer, so time to put another one of these up as the last one hit the time limit for comments. Hmmm... looks like I need to add more words here since the first post needs to be 75...

Michael Cox: Mediocre Manchesters?

+

ZM / Michael Cox on the two Manchesters leading into the derby. I know with the new layout that fanshots just get buried down here, so perhaps Gene or SS in the preview can link to ZM's post.

Jonathan Wilson: Five things we learned

1

Bullets: 1 Ferguson decides that diamonds are not forever 2 United miss Ferdinand's defensive organisation 3 Rooney does not always have to be a workaholic 4 Question marks remain over shaky defence 5 Attacking jigsaw not yet fitting together

ZM: Role of the new No. 10 in the Premier League

+

"There's been an influx of central creators -- and a shift to a 4-2-3-1 -- in the EPL. It's worked for Arsenal, not so much for United." -Michael Cox, ESPN

Summer Transfer Thread #4 - Deadline time

Editor's note: I'm bumping this up to the front page for the final day of the summer transfer window. It's highly unlikely that United get much business done other than Dimitar Berbatov's sale to...

EPL TV Deal: The Sun Always Shines On TV

A piece on the new TV deal by the great Swiss Ramble financial football blog. Highly recommend: SR writes with clarity using lots of charts and graphics, as well as photos to make for a pleasing presentation. When you feel like you're deep in the weeds with some of his information, it's easy to go back to look at the chart, re-read the text and see what he's pointing to. After a few posts you'll get the hang of it. His whole site is worth a read, especially poking on the left hand side to links to tags on specific clubs (ManUtd for example). In fact, United, Arsenal and Chelsea are good starting points before taking a look at the more complex ones on City. Editor note - Very interesting read. Worth looking at. SS

Manchester United ditches Asia for US IPO

5

This is rather interesting. Likely a sign that it's closer than thought, and perhaps in advance of fairplay impact (i.e. before the close of the 2012/13 season/books). Editors note - Good catch here from JDW. I have no idea how much truth there is on this, or the impact it will have on the club, but it is worth kowing
