watching the LSU Alabama game, no. 44 for LSU gets a costly personal foul. Not only does Les Miles chew him out, but everyone on the defense gets on his case, and he goes and sits all by himself on what appears to be LSU's "shame bench"

Syracuse's biggest problem this year has been stupid mistakes, not talent. Yet I never see this type of thing happen. Not just DM chewing some kid out, but the rest of the d or the o getting on one of there own for doing something stupid.

Case in point, I think it was the second quarter when it started getting chippy between SU's defense and the Cincinnati tight end no. 18. Cincinnati had something like a second and fifteen and threw a five yard pass that turned into a 14 yard play because our guy (can't remember who) tried to take the guys head off instead of making a simple tackle. Why didn't shamrko or someone else on the defense get in that kids face and let him know that was unacceptable? That he needs to make that tackle. Or that you can't consistently catch the ball on a kickoff on the one yard line and step out of bounds? Or that you can't get a false start as a wide out? Or ....you get the point.

This is rambling, but the bottom line is that good teams seem to be self policing when it comes to stupid plays, when you do it, the rest of your teammates let you know that you f'ed up. we don't seem to have that type of team culture yet. Hopefully we will soon.

they shot 36% for the season overall. The odds they would pull this out against us?

10.92%

http://www.uwbadgers.com/sports/m-baskbl/stats/2011-2012/teamstat.html

as SU fans we often feel that we just don't get the breaks, the refs are out for us, etc. In this case we are correct.

fanpost is telling me that I have to write at least a total of 75 words in order to post this, so I would also like to take this opportunity to point out that Charles Barkley really has no idea what he's talking about.

http://espn.go.com/ncb/notebook/_/page/notebookweeklywatch1205/week-5

3. Winning on the road in conference play is just plain hard. Indiana was lucky to escape Penn State with a win Sunday afternoon. This weekend, many of their ranked comrades were far less fortunate. Florida lost at Tennessee. Duke barely survived an upset at the hands of Georgia Tech. Missouri got housed in the Octagon of Doom. Georgetown, a tough road team with wins at Louisville and Alabama, fell at West Virginia. Mississippi State gave up 98 points at Arkansas. UConn lost at Rutgers. The list goes on and on.

5. Syracuse just keeps on winning, too. The balance of the Orange's schedule set up very nicely these first few months, transitioning from an almost entirely home-oriented non-conference schedule to a first month of Big East play that includes no truly frightening road games.

so from point 3 , I get the point that all conference road games are hard. For example - Duke barely beat GT, a team who had, I think, exactly one conf. win all of last year, Winning conference road games sure is hard! Until I get to point 5, where its made clear to me that SU has no truly frightening road games....
