According to Yahoo sports, Donte Stallworth will be charged with DUI manslaughter. A terrible story for all that just continues to unravel. I am not sure how much this type of criminal charge carries for sentencing. It can't be good,m though.

I can't wait for the draft. Do you wonder how much David Patten has left in the tank? Looks like Syndric Steptoe or someone else needs to break through this year. This sucks!!!

According to John Heyman at SI and MLB Network, Pedro Martinez has received interest from 4 teams (Dodgers, Mets, Pirates, and the Indians). Sounds like Pedro's agent, Fern Cuza, is trying to make a market for his client. Fern goes on to say that additional teams haved entered the mix. Based upon the rumored guaranteed money (5 million), I don't think this is much more than posturing by the agent. Maybe the Dodgers or the Mets are desperate enough to up the guaranteed money to attract the servicable starting pitcher back to baseball. Good luck to whatever team meets his demands. Let's hope its not Cleveland.

Bowden has managed to absolutely destroy this organization in his tenure. Granted there were some questionable moves made prior (IE trading Grady Sizermore to us). This Washington Nationals are on pace to win 57 games. I know there are various injuries affecting them this season, but how do you decide to release 3 salaried veterans the day after the trade deadline. Is this team in transition or without direction? Reminds me of Seattle. Now that Bavasi is no longer running amuck in Seattle, could Bowden be our next favorite trade partner?

Sheldon Ocker wrote this article today in the Akron paper. Here's the link. As crazy as it sounds, I've heard a lot crazier things. I like this option a lot better than the recent past. We do need to bring in someone else unless Kobayashi answers the question for the remainder of the season. I'm interested to see what you think.

It seems as though this season has passed us by. The last 60 games or so should determine the makeup of our run at the next pennant. Why not? It is an odd year.

Big Browns fan but I also went to the same high school as Kirk Barton. He was legitimately a 2nd round talent after his tremendous run at Ohio State. Yeah, there are concerns that his knee can hold up. This knee he hurt against Penn State a couple of years ago, but this guy was a 220 pound TE in high school. He worked his butt off to become a 2 time 1st team big ten. He played in 2 national title games. He will give it everything he's got. You guys will love him if he makes the team. Maybe he's not quite Jimbo Covert, but he's the next best thing. He consistently graded out amazingly every game he played in college except the last 2 bowl games. Good luck to you guys. You got a great player and any news is appreciated.

Thanks

I know it sounds like I watched the Major League series or The Natural one too many times, but we still have a chance. I now I sound insane, but the reason is the strength of the teams we're chasing. Seriously, do you really think the teams in the division are playing that great. What if the Tigers, White Sox, and Twins all play .500 baseball the rest of the year. The division winner could be 85-87 wins. Is that likely, no... not really. However, after the last two baseball years, is anything possible?? The 2007 Rockies and the collapse of the Mets are two recent examples. Now if the Mariners series is a confidence builder and the karma train blows into town, we could, maybe pull this off.

Before you vote me being committed to the looney bin, think about these thoughts on our competition. The Twins have the 2 M's offensively but will this young pitching staff hold up? Also Neshek being out for the year could catch up their bullpen soon enough. The tigers are old team and have a mediocre pitching staff at best. Do you think this rotation is one of the 25 best in baseball? Can Verlander, Rogers, and Robertson hold down the staff? Who are the other guys? The White Sox are the strongest of the bunch. But what is maximum innings Danks has thrown in any previous year? Will he start to tire? Couldn't the same thing be said for Floyd? Do Buehrle and Vasquez scare you? What if Quentin or Dye cools off?

All of these thoughts are meaningless unless we start playing some serious ball. As my last count, we need to play .667 ball the rest of the way to go 87-75. Plausible? no. Possible? yes as last year shows. What if the last couple of days is what Marte plays like the rest of the year. What if Carmona returns to 2007 form.
