Orange jerseys and the jests. Another great combonation.
Well the jests have convincingly destroyed the Pats on both sides of the ball.
We're not going to Draft or sign a #1 this year
All right, this is going to be a dissenting opinion but I just want to get this out of the way. I kinda want to call this first so when it happens I can claim I called it from the beginning!
We all know how the Tuna operates when it comes to the offensive side of the ball. He's very conservative in that he likes the running game to dictate that side of the ball. Mainly because he doesn't value the WR spot that much. It's not that he doesn't like the position he just doesn't like the type of player that usually occupies that position. Tuna's old school and with that being said he just doesn't like drama queens. So that'll be reason one on why we won't be drafting or picking up a FA receiver this year. But I'll go over a couple of reasons why we won't be seeing any new faces in the WR depth chart this season.
We all know and especially the Trifecta know we need a #1 DESPERATELY!!! But as far as the FO's concerned they've already remedied that situation via Turner and Pruitt. Now for us in the fan community would scream to differ, I being front and center screaming(and getting tired of it). But let us look at this situation from a business point of view and not a biased fan point of view who's playing a bit to much Madden football. As we all know WR is a skill position, "skill" in these terms meaning a higher bracket of salary from the get go. We all know that this organization was ranked second in the spending a crap load of money section last year. This being an uncapped year and Ross licking his wounds due to his accounting firm is screaming at him for his investment in his sports venture being in the red the Dolphins have to be a little frugal. Ross and Co. opened the pocket book for signing Dansby and Rolle due to they felt they would be getting guaranteed return on investment from those players. But I'm feeling heads will roll if the Trifecta invest cash on a flaky WR who rapes/beats a female(s), shoots himself in a club, and/or mouths off against the team, coach, city/state. #1's are flaky from the get go especially if they're good and they "know" they're good. The type of person who's gifted enough to occupy this position is usually a spoiled, coddled, brat. And therein lies the ultimate rub.
Next reason this team won't be getting a #1 is because as I've said prior they feel they've addressed this position for the time being. "They" meaning Bill Parcells. He has drafted/signed Turner, Gryce-Mullen, Pruitt, Hartline, T. Johnson. The favoring opinion around the NFL is that a WR get's fully acclimated and valuable in their third year. All the receivers that Parcells has invested in will be in their first or second year respectively. From a business point of view to invest more capitol while not letting your current investments mature is simply bad business ala throwing money into the wind hoping the wind will blow more money back at you. I can see the logic of Parcell's statement "We'd be interested in them if their available. We can't create them." I interpret that as him saying if a WR is available for the right price and personality we'd do it but there is none.
Next is there isn't a sure fire #1 receiver in the draft worth drafting other than Dez Bryant. Don't get me wrong I feel there's a couple of potential #1's in the draft. But again from a business point of view you really can't make an argument that they'll bring more to the table than players you have on your roster currently. I know that sounds illogical but when your dealing with money it's a logical argument. What I'm basically saying is we have to see what Turner and Pruitt can do this upcoming season before we can even think of drafting another receiver. Now if Dez is available when we're on the clock then we'll draft a receiver but short of that we'll be drafting an OLB, NT, or FS. Oh, and a note on Dez, seems like the guy is a diva so it's really not looking good for us picking him up even if he's available. Being late for game day-- Not showing up for MANDATORY team meetings!!! Are you F@!$ING KIDDING ME!!! Now imagine still getting paid ten G's guaranteed a week even if your late on game day and or practice per contract that your agent jerry rigged. Um, no!
Now to why we won't be signing a (R)FA. They cost too damn much. I would love to get V. Jackson but his price tag is too high. A 1st and 3rd and big time money. I wish he wasn't restricted then it would be a smart move to just pay him. But giving up draft picks is not a good move when you need to fill holes that you have on your team as in NT, OLB, and FS. Also, if Seattle signs Marshall the Chargers would like to talk to teams that are in the top ten of the draft not outside of it. Other than V. Jackson everyone else is a head case. I totally understood why the Dolphins passed on Boldin. He's injury prone, they're putting Ronnie Brown on the trading block why would they then spend big money and a draft pick to acquire an injury prone player? But again maybe we could package Ronnie, Fesano, and our third to get V. Jackson but I'm thinking the Chargers will be wanting the 1st still. We need our 1st to package it with another trade to make more valuable in the draft.
So in conclusion, Parcells feels satisfied with the WR corp. at this time with what's available in the market at this time. We're going to have to sweat it as fans for one more season before Parcells is convinced to look for a proven #1. So here's hoping that Turner or Pruitt have an unbelievable year and become our number one cause' that's what Parcells and the FO have decided.
What Pat White should be doing this offseason
I would like to preface this Fan Post with a warning. It is a very long and exhaustive Post but it will be my first and only post in defense for Pat White. First, this is a defense of keeping Pat White as a QB for next season but I am in no way advocating that he should be backup to Henne by default as he was this past season.Second, as we all have seen, Thigpen is deserving of being backup as of this time. With that said, Thigpen should be given the opportunity to challenge for the starting position and definitely for the backup position. Pat White is not a rookie anymore and he shouldn't be protected as he was this pass season. From here on out he must earn his spot and position on the roster and if not the coaching staff shouldn't hesitate to put him on the Practice squad or make him earn his spot in another position. Third, I'm approaching this argument in keeping Pat White as a QB next season from as much of an objective point of view as I possibly can. I will admit some bias in the fact that since he was a rookie last year he should be given ONE more chance to prove his worth.

Another "I want Brandon Marshall in Dolphins uniform" Fanpost
Yes another post about Brandon Marshall. I just want to add my two cents for the acquiring of Brandon Marshall
Let me start off by mentioning this is my first fan post. Got tired of just commenting due to all my comments were unnecessarily long so I figured I have enough to say to justify a fanpost. With that said and this being Monday after a very some what disappointing season for our Dolphins we now are in the mode of looking toward the future for this team and what this team needs to become a playoff team next year and a super bowl contender soon after that. Now as the title of this post suggest, I am on the bandwagon of getting said player on our beloved team. By the time I finish this post there will be ten post or more about said player so hopefully Matty doesn't delete it before I can see it posted and be proud of myself. But let us begin on the reason why this FO must pull the trigger and get Brandon Marshall in aqua and orange.
First, I will make the case of why 1st and 3rd drafts picks will not effect our needs to improve this team in the upcoming draft. I've read around the interwebs and it looks like we will be getting the 12, 43(11th 2nd rd), and 74(10th 3rd rd) picks respectively. The cost of entering the Brandon Marshall sweepstakes will be giving up our 1st and 3rd pics and a boat load of cash but Google Stephen Ross and the boatloads of cash is covered. Now my opinion of what this team needs are very simple, those needs are, in order of importance, WR,ILB,OLB, and NT. A lot of people on The Phinsider would like this FO to get a FS in the upcoming draft but I don't see the need of expending a draft pick on an FS in the first three rounds. The only FSs who are worthy of drafting are Berry and Mays but we won't be able to get them. But mainly we already have our FS for next year, Clemons and Culver is our depth for that position. Looking at Clemons, the kid just needs to study film and learn the nuances and methods a FS(center fielder) plays in a 3-4(hybrid) scheme his team uses. He's got the skills now he just needs to learn the method. Coaching will remedy that this offseason now that the coaching staff has ample(thanks Gebril Wilson) of Clemons in game film to evaluate and guide him thru and fix his mistakes. Moving on to why our first and third wouldn't give us bang for our buck. We will most likely be picking 12th, so we can cross out getting an impacting WR cause Dez Bryant will be gone and any other WR won't be worth the pick if Brandon Marshall rejects Denver's offer to retain him. Let me expand on not worth the pick a bit because this is where I disagree with most people on this site most. Yes there's a lot of talented WR's after Bryant but they're unproven, none of them are going to walk on the field and become a number 1 in the near future except for maybe Bryant. I would rather develop Patrick Turner before I would draft another receiver if the FO passes on Marshall. Turners got size, speed, and another year to bulk up to get the strength and not to mention a year under his belt of how the NFL machine works. Why draft another prospect to delay the process? Also, I want to ram the CJ Spiller bandwagon of the mountain quickly here. We might be able to snatch him with our first round pic but he's a running back! We have how many running backs again? Ricky is healthy he just broke down in the end due to he had to carry the entire load at the end. Ronnie Brown had a freak accident so you guys talking about he's injury prone shut up. Any person who was tackled like that would get injured I don't care how "healthy" you are that was a bone breaking move a freak accident. I'm surprised his ankle didn't snap off. Lex Hilliard is the future if and when Ronnie Brown shows his age and did everyone forget Cobbs? So yeah, I know Cj Spiller is a carbon copy of Chris Johnson but we already have enough RBs thank you very much.Frankly they're a dime a dozen we have enough to last for the next two or three seasons and we can draft another if Lex doesn't pan out.
So there goes the first round pick, we won't be able to get an impacting WR in the first round and we are assured to get an impacting ILB in the second round. This is where I am all for jettisoning our 1st and 3rd. As history has shown, LB's have a weird habit of falling to the second round in recent history. I'm counting on that to happen again this upcoming draft. McClain, I feel, will be snatched up by some one before us in the first round but I think the rest ILB draft class will be tore thru in the second round. More importantly, I feel Brandon Spikes will be available for us when our turn comes again to pick in the second round. I'm on the Brandon Spikes bandwagon so there goes our most important need covered in the second round. Now, with the surrendering of the third round pick I can see the argument of not doing that. With the third round pick would allow us to cover the need of OLB. Porter has played his last game as a dolphin and Marshall has "history" with the character called Peezy. I will admit I loved the guy but he's old, JT's old, and Wake is coming into his own so some one has to be cut. I'll side with JT due to he's right now for me overall better then Peezy. JT has a total grasp of the system and would be a better teacher then Peezy for Wake and the upcoming OLB's. Regarding OLBs, this draft class is stocked with Kindle being my favorite but he'll be snatched up in the first round or early second round. We can wait on the OLB due to Wake will be starting and JT should be fine and we do have depth in that position, not great but secured. With me saying that OLB's are stocked I feel we should be able to get an impacting OLB in the later rounds primarily in the fourth and fifth. There's a lot of talent and I feel we could find a Hartline of an OLB there (crossing fingers for Rico Mccoy, AJ Edds, or Stevenson Sylvester). So there's not really a need for the third cause we can cover OLB in the later rounds easily without it.
Now lets move on to the NT position. I'm sold on Soliai, he's not as of yet an Elite NT but give him some time and he will eventually be an elite. With that said I'm looking at this position as more of a rotation position then having an elite NT playing all three downs for sixteen games. Cody is not the real deal, dudes more fat then muscle NFL centers are going to have a field day with him because it's all about leverage not poundage. Suh will be taken quickly and again this draft class has a plethora of NT's that would be worthy for a system of rotating NT's. Tyson Alualu and Kade Weston should be available in the later rounds.
Now since I made the case for trading away our 1st and 3rd for Brandon Marshall let me make the case on why we need to get Marshall on this team. As the pass three games have shown we don't have a down the field threat or some one other then Ronnie Brown to give us the ability for chunk plays. This team was built around CP10 and not The Robot. In that we're primarily a run based team and all our receivers are possession receivers. Perfect if you have a quarterback who can't stretch the field vertically but slice and dice you with his accuracy. Since The Robot is now going to take over The Robot needs a WR who can stretch the field vertically and open up the field for his possession receivers and the running game so his play action and bootlegs are that more effective. This team is easy to game plan against, just stop the run and double Bess. That's it that's how you beat the dolphins. Now imagine putting Marshall opposite of Ginn(or Hartline or Camarillo), Bess in the slot, having Ronnie in the backfield, The Robot under center how do you game plan to stop that. Yeah, I know, it's really that simple. I know a lot of people are making a big stink about our defense but that can be remedied if this offense can put points on the board so the defense doesn't have to bear the brunt of holding the opponents offense to field goals or three and outs and wait/hope for our offense to score. I always felt that the struggles on defense were in direct relation of the offense not being able to put points on the board or convincingly take over a ball game. I personally feel this is a great defense in the making just missing two or three parts to complete it. How amped up would you think this defensive unit and Paul Pasqualani would be if they know they can pin the ears back and attack with total disregard of what happens? I don't fault Paul for not calling a lot of aggressive packages because I know he's handicapped due to he has a rookie secondary that isn't comfortable playing zone and primarily his offense can't dig him out of a hole so he has to play conservative. That also goes for Henning, he was dealing with a Robot with a Howitzer installed for an arm and operating for the first time in the NFL. Give Henning some slack, he didn't know how hard he could push The Robot and he knew that The Robot didn't have the capability to direct the line very well. I would love Lee to be an OC but his place is to coach our QB's and I think he would rather prefer it that way actually, he doesn't come off as guy who wants to be trapped in a sound booth far away from the field.
So to end this post for the argument of giving up our picks and cash to get Marshall because we don't really need them to fix our issues with this team. Someone of Marshalls calibre doesn't come along very often. I didn't get into his personal charecter much because I ultimately think it's of no consequence. He's a good guy all around off the field (yes, he's hit a woman but the guy has gone thru counseling and has no further history of battery of any kind) and the issues he's had on the field were primarily having a power hungry, Bill Belicheat wannabe, douche-bag for a coach. The system that the Trifecta have installed in the Dolphins franchise would actually discipline and focus Marshall. Reviewing Marshalls character and personal life I've come to the opinion the guy wants some one to coach him who has the credentials to coach him. I feel he would respect Coach Sparano, Parcells, Dorrell, and the rest of this coaching staff due to they all have experience and credentials to receive respect from any player in the league. So there you have it, thanks for reading it all and please share your opinions on why you agree or disagree with my standing for getting Marshall.
