After this disgusting, and embarrassing loss I think it's safe to say Rex and a Tanny need to be axed. I've enjoyed Rex ever since he came to 2009 and fired up a team and fan base that needed one in the worst way. But it looks like Rex has lost his football team once again. After talking trash to the dolphins, saying "we're gonna empty the gas tank" before our bye week... The team in EVERY PHASE played like garbage. The first drive of the game, we get called for an offsides penalty that gives Miami a first down. Then on a huge run by Reggie bush, cromartie gets called for a personal foul and tacks on 15 yards more. Right out the gate. That's the mark of an undisciplined football team. I think the Rex Ryan era might be over already, and as much as I have defended Sanchez and still believe he is better than what he is now might be done too.

And let's not forget about good ol' Mike Tannebaum. The cap genius, the numbers guy, the glorified accountant...Mike Tannebaum needs the axe. His failure to address team needs over the past few years has been embarrassing. How long was it going to take to get rid of Wayne Hunter?? Why has the talent level around Mark Sanchez, our "franchise QB" and biggest investment decreased in every single season? Why are you making a trade for Tim Tebow, when you just extended your QB? There seems to be no plan in the front office. This team has been lacking talent since we lost to Pittsburgh in 2010. A team that had to win it all that year, or you might never get another chance to do it again. We've put a talent limited team on the field for the past two seasons, and it's quite embarrassing to watch. We don't have a QB playing at a certain level where his Wide Receivers and Running backs look like what they are now, and he can make it all work. QBs like Rodgers, Brees, Brady, and the Mannings can do that, and even those guys trot out with great offensive talent around them. Look at what those guys have to work with, not only are they great themselves, but they've got WEAPONS at their disposal. People you have to gameplan for, and make sure one doesn't burn you when you have the other guys locked up. Our team lacks those types of players, and Rex and Tannebaum need to pay because of it.

With that said, I've been very frustrated with Mark Sanchez, even though I'm one of the few that still like him. He has all the physical gifts needed to be a very good Quaterback in this league. But he is so damn inconsistent, and makes the mistakes he should rarely be making as a fourth year quaterback. Pocket presence is improved, but still not great. He's still locking on to one receiver at times, and when he gets sacked I'm scared the ball will pop loose. At this point, it's not even a physical issue for Mark. It's completely mental. We have a mentally damaged QB, and I'm not sure of he will ever get the help he needs as long as Rex and Tanny are making the moves. This team has problems and a cleaning of house might be in line for us. Might be the best option for us, because there is a lot of things that need to be fixed on this team, and it might not get taken care of in one season. Regardless, I'm going to try and stay as optimistic as I can and root for my team and hope for the best. This league is crazy and changes every week, let's see how things fall into place.

I'm sure most of you realize this is my first post on GGN since I've joined before the 2011 season started. I've been watching the jets since 2002, and of course I'm still watching them, still suffering like the rest of jet nation. Anyways, it's January 23rd and this was a heartbreaking day in Jets history, and it happened one year ago. More after the jump.

January 23, 2011 I'm extremely excited, juiced, pumped etc. for what is to commence at around 7:00 that night. Our jets where once again in a prime postition to reach the Super Bowl for the 1st time and our oppenent was the Pittsburgh Steelers. A team we JUST beat 5 weeks prior. Everything was set, we just beat the Colts, the Patriots and now Pittsburgh was in our way, a team we were clearly better than. But then the game started. Despite the terrible start, we surged back (thanks Mark) and came SO CLOSE to getting one more possession (thanks defense) but the result was something we all are used to. Failure, letdown, disappointment, so close, chokers, and same old jets.

As gut wrenching as that day was, we had hope for the next season to take that next step, throw off the same old jets label and bring glory to a loyal fanbase. Sadly, we dropped the ball towards the end of the season and watched two teams we loathe reach the same position we were in 364 days before. Thanks to luck, the damn Patriots reached a super bowl, and on the road, bad conditions, and their share of luck... the Giants made it back to the super bowl. Right in our faces, showing the jets how to get it done when it really mattered, cramming this down our throats and our bombastic head coach's. Setting up an epic lose-lose matchup for us fans, Giants vs Patriots AGAIN!? Whoever wins we lose, and we all get to watch. The scrutiny that lies ahead from the media and other fanbases is coming, but what are the positives in this seemingly anti-jet matchup?

Watching the Giants AND patriots, two big rivals make it right in our faces is a killer. This will surely make the jets much more hungry to dominate the league next year. Another much needed wake-up call, for our head coach and players. Whoever wins, this will make us stronger. If the giants win, we are pressured to respond and take the city back... and if New England wins it will make us hungry to dethrone them from their NFL, AFC East throne. It gets me excited for the offseason. I want to see the FO make moves, improve this team after a year of disappointment, build on a GREAT and YOUNG core of talent we have, and go out and re-take the city and NFL by storm.

This is my hope for the jets this offseason and soon 2012 season. With just a few key moves, this team will be in primed position to finally take that next step, and rock the NFL. With the Giants and Patriots currently in the Super Bowl one year to the day we lost to pittsburgh, this team will be stronger, hungry, motivated and determined to bring joy and a Super Bowl to this great, yet suffering fanbase. What a glorious day that will be.
