I know it's not a popular suggestion, but the Pirates have enough pitching prospects to get a good first baseman.

I don't know if this is my favorite idea, but just for fun what kind of package do you think could pull a Trumbo or Morrison? and Do you think this would push us to a full season contender this season (possibly playoffs?)?

With the minors loaded with quality centerfielders (mostly Grossman and Hernandez), would it be wise to consider a trade of Cutch in a season or two. Possibilty of great returns and an in house replacement.

I was have been pondering the Walker as cleanup for a bit now and cannot wrap my arms around it. I feel like he would be better served in the 3 hole and we should throw Pedro into cleanup (Might as well get comfy where he belongs, not at 6th). I know he has struggled, but he is notoriously a slow starter and seems to be getting the swing of things.
My optimal line today would be as follows;

McCutchen

Tabata

Walker

Alvarez

Overbay

Snyder/ Doumit

Jones/Dias

Cedeno

Pitcher.

I feel like with Alvarez would be protected either side and would see more pitches. The first three spend all day on base, and Overbay is a solid clutch batter to follow. Then some sporadic power to finish. Thoughts?

Also I am pleased with the Pirates so far, just wish for some offensive consistency.

on the 40 man roster, I hear a lot of talk about trading Doumit (phils for Blanton or whatever http://bleacherreport.com/articles/546108-pennsylvania-peace-treaty-why-the-phillies-and-pirates-match-up-for-a-trade). Could we consider Maholm/Doumit for prospects?

I am not sure what the Yanks have available, Maybe Joba and some youngsters. I was just curious.
