Bleed Cubbie Blue Cubs promote Vitters, Carpenter, Cashner

Today the Cubs promoted Josh Vitters, our top prospect, to Daytona according to This press release. Vitters was hitting .316 through 73 games to lead the Peoria Chiefs. He was also leading the team with 15 home runs.  This move makes me pretty happy.  As long as he can keep up his good hitting I think he is on his way to make it to the big leagues in a few more years.

Chris Carpenter also was promoted to Daytona. He had 4-3 record with a 2.44 ERA for Peoria. On June 15 against Quad Cities,he threw a seven-inning, complete game shutout with just three hits allowed.

To make room for both Andrew Cashner and Nathan Samson are being promoted to Tenesee. A strict pitch count prevented Cashner from factoring in any decisions while in Daytona, but had an ERA at 1.50 after twelve starts.  He also had a better than 2:1 strike-out-to-walk ratio.  Samson hit .251 in 61 games this season, was second in runs scored and first in walks with 24. He struck out just ten times in 207 at-bats. Samson also committed just ten errors as an everyday 2nd baseman.

This fanpost has more details on Cashner, Vitters, and Carpenter as players

Good to see Vitters and Carpenter to continue to move up through the system.  But I personally am more excited to see what Cashner can do as he keeps moving up.  I would love to see him getting a start in the big leagues in 2 years.

Well to me when he says Sosa doesnt deserve to be in I am fully convinced he does not belong. But where does that leave Bonds/Arod/Clemens?
