Amputee Makes MMA Debut

Kyle Maynard, born with his arms at his elbows and his legs at his knees, is now less than a week from his mixed martial arts debut set for Saturday at "Auburn Fight Night" at the Auburn Covered Arena in Alabama.

The event is being promoted around his long-awaited debut and will be streamed online for $14.95 at www.kylemaynardfight.com.

His opponent for the amateur bout will be announced at the weigh-ins on Friday.

Maynard had been previously denied a license by the Georgia Athletic & Entertainment Commission two years ago, and is only now able to fight since Alabama does not have an athletic commission.

I'm all for equal rights, but this cries of bad taste and seems inhumane. While Maynard may have faired well in either high school or collegiate wrestling, MMA is a different beast entirely, and he will face a more severe disadvantage.

Lashley vs. Sapp

Former World Wrestling Entertainment star and up-and-coming mixed-martial-arts heavyweight fighter Bobby Lashley (2-0) will fight former NFL lineman and kickboxer Bob Sapp (10-3-1) on June 27.

Lashley, an American Top Team fighter, announced the super-heavyweight fight with a Monday Twitter posting.

After an appearance on TNA's Lockdown PPV from this past weekend, it seemed as if Lashley's dream of making it to a bigger show (Strikeforce/UFC) was dead. However this news as well as the rumors that he did not sign a deal with the pro wrestling group, keeps Lashey's aspirations alive for a little longer.

Bellator Signs Jorge Masvidal

According to reports from FiveOuncesOfPain.com, Jorge Masvidal is the latest fighter to sign with Bellator Fighting Championships, which is scheduled to starting airing fights on ESPN Deportes in April. Masvidal, who has seen recent success with both Strikeforce and Sengoku, is among a growing number of fighters signing with the upstart promotion.

Masvidal will join Eddie Alvarez in the lightweight tournamnet, while rumours circulate about the other potential fighters.

FiveOuncesOfPain.com also recently reported on the negotiations with EliteXC bantamweight champion Wilson Reis.

Other fighters being looked at now include former WEC champion Paulo Filho, Hector Lombard, and most recently (according to Fighters.com) Nick Thompson.
