Windy City Gridiron What's Earl Bennett and Brandon Rideau's deal? Could Bears sign Peppers?

Ok I can already tell the Bears will be drafting a #1 wide receiver in either the first round or second round come April because free agent wise there isn't much there. They need a dude on offense who can step in and make big plays. A #1.

For now I think the Bears need to make Marty Booker their #1 WR. They need to establish a guy they can trust to make a big play in tight games.  I like Brandon Lloyd but he's not a number one WR and who knows how long he'll be out with an injury. I would like to see Orton hit Booker and Olsen more often. Maybe on slants and just more dink and dunk plays on first down and then let Forte eat up the rest.

Why don't the Bears play the younger WR's in Bennett and maybe bring up Rideau? I assume it's because the Bears feel their not ready but personally I think Rashied Davis is like a 5th option wide out.....if that.  I wonder if the Rookies get action in the near future because this has to improve.

O-line

I said it last week and I'll say it again Olin Kreutz is washed up. How about that play where he pulled on the reverse to Hester? Dude can't run anymore.

FREE AGENTS Offensive Line

Matt Birk, UFA, Minnesota Vikings

Marc Colombo, UFA, Dallas Cowboys

Jordan Gross, UFA, Carolina Panthers

Mark Tauscher, UFA, Green Bay Packers

Stacy Andrews, UFA, Cincinnati Bengals
Jordan Black, UFA, Houston Texans
Vernon Carey, UFA, Miami Dolphins
George Foster, UFA, Detroit Lions
Chris Gray, UFA, Seattle Seahawks
Pete Kendall, UFA, Washington Redskins
Seth McKinney, UFA, Cleveland Browns
Jon Runyan, UFA, Philadelphia Eagles
Tra Thomas, UFA, Philadelphia Eagles
Fred Weary, UFA, Houston Texans
John Welbourn, UFA, Kansas City Chiefs

As much as I think the Bears need to look at offense next season I wouldn't mind seeing them sign another line backer to replace Hunter.

My question is could the Bears sign Julius Peppers in 09? That would be scary!

Windy City Gridiron Move Urlacher to saftey? Find his apprentice?

Here we go people on ESPN calling the Bears Defense old.

Just an idea.Or if you're from the East coast an idearrrrrr. I  know this would never happen but I thought about this during the preseason and kinda liked the idea of just letting Urlacher loose to F'up  some wideouts or some running back.

My thing is I don't see the same player from a few years ago. I really think Urlacher has lost his edge. His tackling has looked poor at times.

I remember the Urlacher that would come out of nowhere like a cheetah built like mac truck.  I just don't see that superstar effect anymore that made this defense so powerful. Don't get me wrong he's still their best player but I think this move would give him a chance to kill. He's getting older and mucking him up in the middle seems to hinder his talent.

maybe like......

Brown, Urlacher

Peanut, Vasher

Hunter, Briggs, Williams

Adewale, Harris, Dusty, Alex B.

The truth is YES this Defense is getting older BUT look at what one good draft pick could do for a unit i.e. Matt Forte.

So find Urlacher's apprentice and revamp this defense. Or we can have more of the same bend but don't break until your gassed at the end of the game defense.

I want a defense that scares teams again.

Yes the Bears need a QB and WR thats the top of the list but Urlacher is in his twilight as far as an every down game changer.

I think it's time to plan for Urlacher and Mike Brown's replacements. Maybe moving him to safety could give the defense a new look while giving his apprentice reps.

PS Olin Kreutz is washed up!

Windy City Gridiron Beekman/Harrison/Davis looking like NFL players, Orton should start.

I was part of the small group of optimistic Bear fans who thought the Bears could go 10-6. Then 2 games into the (PRESEASON) I see John Tait and John St. Clair get blown up by Seahawk LB's.  To me this season might as well be a wash. 5-11 as the Defense gets steamed rolled seems to be the popular thing to say now. I might as well join in the pessimistic Score heads and ESPN 1000 Bear bashers after watching that game.

Ok the O-line was god awful, it looked like the line was made of paper and even the rookie Forte got some major pops jolting him backwards almost into Rex.

But I did seem some positives.  Josh Beekman, who I thought looked pretty good in the 07 preseason was strong at the left guard spot. I recored the game and only watched the O-line on several plays including the Grossman sack and interception. Tait and St. Clair are just too slow to play in the NFL. If I'm scouting the Bears I blitz all day on the tackles. But I digress. Beekman looked solid and I recall him putting a text book move on the Seahawk rush as he started blocking the D-lineman and then quickly shuffled to take on the blitzing backer to his left. He did a great job. Most of the sacks and pressures were due to the slowness of the Tackles.  Beekman maybe undersized but I think this kid can start right now and be productive for the Bears. Down the road Beekman next to Williams might turn out to be a solid left side. Clearly it's time to bring in some new blood to this aging line.

Another promising showing was Marcus Harrison who might look nice next to Tommie Harris down the road. The guy is massive and he has a motor. The guy also seems to have deceptive speed and I replayed him closing in fast on many plays during the game. Harrison looked solid once again. This guy could turn out to be the player the Bears thought they were getting with Tank Johnson. Lets just hope the off the field crap doesn't effect his future like Tank's.

Other Positives, one that is obvious and that's Kellen Davis the 6'7 tight end, what more can you say that catch was awesome and he should contribute right away with that size. He will be a nice target.

Special teams. If you were as disappointed as I was when Brendon Avanbadejo left for the Ravens and you might wanna watch this crazy looking dude who destroyed some kick returner on the Seahawks Saturday night. His name is leonard Peters and he might be able to take that gunner spot thats open on kick offs. He maybe a long shot but if you notice anything other than his big Hawaiian fro it's that the dude and fly and has no fear.

Other players that have caught my eye are Joey LaRocque, Darrell Mcclover, PJ Pope, Nick Roach,

It will be nice to see if Kevin Jones can contribute soon but it might not matter until this line gets revamped.

Wondering does anyone know about the rookies the Bears drafted Cody Balogh and Kirk Barton both are tackles. Also how does Chester Adams look? You never know the way this line is playing they may need these guys to step in.

Orton should be the starting QB for the Bears as conservative as he can be you just can't have Rex out there getting cranked out and getting happy feet.

Blog a Bull Aldridge/Chandler vs Tyrus/Wallace.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/apphoto/photo?sportId=46&photoId=1741195

Damn 28 points Bulls missed on that trade. Hey hindsight is 20/20 but wow. Maybe Matt was right. I think I remember him wanting to draft Aldridge all season and right now that looks like what they should have done. Atleast if you needed scoring.

Aldridge's numbers

Tyrus PPG 6.9 | RPG 5 | BPG 1

I know most of that is due to playing time but oh my lord there seems to be a big difference on paper.

Tyrus showed alot of the game changing freakish abilities late last season so maybe thats the case this season. Maybe he starts slow like Wallace. Now I'm just hoping.

Although I loved the pick at the time and still pretty much do I wish he could get more mintues. It would be nice to see him play harder I do think Skiles had a bit of a point he can loaf at times. I hope he they can put that past them and Tyrus can work on not making Paxson look like a fool. Wallace is already doing that.

Wallace

Season    13    13    31.8    53-97    .546    0-1    .000    35-54    .648    3.5    7.4    10.9    .23    1.31    2.23    2.85    1.5    10.8

I guess I could have done it like this...

Tyson       PPG 10.8 | RPG 10.9 | BPG 1.3
Aldridge   PPG 18.8 | RPG 7.8 | BPG 1.1

Wallace    PPG 4.6 | RPG 7.2 | BPG 1.4
Tyrus       PPG 6.9 | RPG 5 | BPG 1

I know thats a bit flawed based on minutes and the Skiles effect but it is what it is. And the fact that Aldridge and Tyson are on separate teams. But just for fun.

Lets see thats......

Tyson/Aldridge  PPG 29.6 | RPG 18.7 | BPG 2.4
Wallace/Tyrus    PPG 11.5 | RPG 12.2 | BPG 2.4

More production with a Tyson/Aldridge front court. Once again this is a bit flawed but it still seems that scoring wise there is a huge difference.

Then you have the debate that Tyson fouls out. I think that cancles out based on the fact that Wallace can't shoot free throws.

Not to throw salt in the wound but I was a big Tyson Chandler fan and I think with a Tyson/Aldrige front court it also give you more trading options. With Wallace's age he looks almost untradable. Opps!

Sorry about the formating. I haven't figured out how to do it on this blog.
Aldridge Chandler Deng Gordon Hinrich I would take that! None even need to wear a headband.

Blog a Bull (UPDATE) Luol speaks with Daily Dime. (UPDATE)

UPDATE (11/21): KC Johnson was on the Score this morning (MP3 here. Warning: contains Mike North). The interesting bit is KC saying Luol himself was the one driving these negotiations, it wasn't a case of him wanting to sign and his agent convincing him he could make more later. Take that you 'gentle Luol' pre-judgers! -Matt

This caught my eye.

No. We talked about $50 million, that was the talk. I'm happy with my decision, no matter what happens. Now it is my challenge to go out there and prove I am worth what I want. If I'm not worth that, there is no shame in that. If someone thinks I'm worth it, then they will pay it. I don't know he's not off to the greatest start considering how he fades away in games when the going gets tough. Really I think if he wants to be the man on this team he needs to show up when it really counts. Or maybe he doesn't really care to. So far I haven't been impressed with Luol. Yeah the Bulls need him to win but they need more out of him. He's been injured so that always concerns you. I'm sure some team will offer him some insane amount of money and the dude will be happy.

There is other stuff check it out.

Blog a Bull Deng out vs Lakers? Bummer dude!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3117011

Saying out one week. Well I guess that gives Sefooooooo some minutes? If that excites you.....or...whatever.

His hair was Ghetto nice by the way! Almost like he was riding on a speed boat off the coast of Switzerland. I take it Wallace, Gardner and Sefo braid each others hair? It's cool, reminded me of the Eddie Robbinson days! I wanted Eddie Robbinson to be good so very badly! Bad brain though. Bad thoughts and ideas.

Anyways nice little win I hope this is a sign that things are looking up. Wonderful D, making open shots. Moving the ball and Ben Wallace played like Big Ben last night! He does so many nice things when the other guys are shooting well. I hope this is more than a one time thing. Rebounding, tipping balls, I like his politicking of the refs. He showed prudence. He didn't really seem to care the first few games. Which I think is odd when your making 60 million. But hey what do I know.

Other Notes Gardner can shoot! Am I the only one who cares? Like when the ball leaves his hands it tends to go in or close to going in. I think thats just something to keep in mind. The man can shoot! Like to see him get worked in.

Nocioni! Wow if there is an MVP so far it's Red Bull! I really think his D has improved. Tonight he was closing out and getting huge rebounds! Wow Noch way to go! He has been special in my life! Love the hair! Love it! Love the hack on Patterson! Thats backbone baby! I remember the Sheed picking on Nocioni days! Way to go Noch! Noch is very clutch. He wears the 5 well. Unlike Ron Mercer getting his ass stuffed by old MJ. Ehhhhhhh!

Like the guard play so far. BG was his old self but still missed some wide open shots which the old BG would kill you on. Got to the Rim and it looks like his giant killer is back.

Kirk has played better. I think his shot is comming around and he's running the offense fairly well. This is the Kirk we need. Smart, gritty , collective.  I just wish him to be like the Kirk I watched in the Final Four. It was like he never missed a shot. When Kirk rolls so do the Bulls. Nice to see!

Duhon has played like the Duhon that stuck with the Bulls his rookie season. He hasn't hurt the team. Maybe he's not out late I don't know. Maybe it's the contract.(Yeah) Funny how that works.

Griff sighting was a nice suprise. I felt calm just watching him. Really though I think he can help in the playoffs. Whats wrong with him calling a team meeting? He's the oldest guy. Charles. Barkley always states the self-evident. Chicago has no scores.
Well could it be that maybe they were just not shooting well?

I still would like to see more from Deng. I know he's been hurt. He played fine tonight but who didn't. I really think Loul needs to take leadership classes. If he could develope like 3 post moves and 3 Iso moves he could be deadly. The pump fake for him is so key! He needs to pump fake alot! With that nice mid range he has all he has to do is pump fake lean in and draw the foul. He should be the number one Scoring option. That needs to be developed later on and into the playoffs. You need to say Loul is our guy we run through him and Noch and BG can play off him.
If Loul could develope the face up juper Karl Malone did. Not so much in strength but Malone could be Isoed in the post turn and face a player and knock down the 15 footer consistantly. You never see that anymore. He would pick and roll and then face up and knock it down eveytime. Or he would hold the ball low to the floor then swing up and set shot in peoples faces.

You guys remember offense?http://youtube.com/watch?v=SiAqzftbmCQ

Who will be the Bulls fist option? Deng needs to be that. He needs to be the Man now.

I hope these are the Bulls that can be top 3 in the East. First real win. Lakers will be tough game. They seem to be playing well at 5-3 and the Kobe drama will be in full effect. Wouldn't it be nice to turn things around in LA and move on from Kobe. I don't see it happening and really it doesn't make any sense. I was for a Kobe deal but your just going to get gutted.

My major concern with the team is Luol Deng. Does he wana be the man or just one of the guys? He has to want it. Because in big games when the defense is tight you need to establish your options. 1. Deng on Block 2. Gordon off screen 3. Drive and Kick to Nocioni. 4. Kirk does something......like drives and gets fouled? 5. Ben Wallace shoots it off the top of the back board. Maybe more pick and rolls with BG and Deng. Set the pick for BG and if it's not there the dump it to Deng. Wana see it! More Alley Opps to Tyrus also. Where has that been? I just thought of the sweetest play...........(Reading Optional) Kirk brings it up to BG on the wing (Dribbles in abit) Deng sets a screen for BG and then rolls( BG's shot not there) BG dumps it down to the rolling Deng who has two options 1 shoot, 2 BG sets a back screen on Tyrus's man and Deng lobs the Alley opp to the cutting Thomas.

Blog a Bull Skiles vs Noah round one?

Well guys it's getting kinda old. See what losing will do. Now the coach is bashing his rookies comments. Or the fact that he made an honest assesment of the state of the Bulls. Well well welllllll.
Maybe Noah shouldn't have said anything but what do you expect him to say Skiles? It's Joakim Noah he speaks without filters. It was his Rookie debut of course he'll have a crowd around him asking him questions about the team. If you ask me I feel something is going on inside that maybe we don't know about. Whether or not Noah was frustrated by not knowing the plays and they have been butting heads or vice versa. Is it Skiles can not tollerate the slow progression as far as Noah learning the team plays? Who knows....

There seems to be friction and I spotted it in the last few games of the preseason. I remember Skiles calling Noah up to sub in for Gray when Noah came back to ask a question to the coaches Skiles shook his head in discust and sent him back to the bench. At which point Noah slowly walked back to the bench swearing. Seconds later one of the coaches came over to Noah with a white board and drew plays for him.

Ok Noah is having problems learning the plays I picked up on that during the last few preseason games but now it's starting to look childish that a coach would throw his player under the bus without him even knowing.

Skiles

"If I had just played my first pro game, I'd probably keep my mouth shut, to be honest with you," Skiles told reporters at the Berto Center. "It's obvious we're not playing to our ability. There's no doubt about that. I may have a little problem with the phrasing of that, but the point is probably spot-on. But it probably should be somebody else speaking for the group."

Noah

"I don't want to say anything. There's no ... um, there's not ... I don't have a problem with coach Skiles, OK? If he feels that way, I'll shut up," Noah said.

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON???

Ok now people are not on the same page here. Skiles has to take it this far? I realize both guys are blunt but come on. Your 0-4 do you think it's the best time to jab at a player through the media? No. What Skiles should have said was either No comment or I'll have a talk with Joakim.

For Bulls fans there is a dark cloud hanging over this team. I feel lost with this team. Do they even wana be Bulls?

  1. This team has holes that really didn't get addressed in the offseason.
  2. Their two best players want mega millions and haven't shown to really step up to the plate and play with any urgency. Or show mental toughness. They haven't even made it past the second round of the playoffs.
  3. This team seems to have maxed out.
        A. Other teams are playing just as hard.(remember the hardest working team in the NBA?)
        B.  They know if you stop BG the odds are against the Bulls
        C.  Ben Wallace is dead. His fro is thinned with strands of gray.
  1. Kobe( Thats all I'll say of the never ending bs)
  2. Now Noah and Skiles seem to be butting heads.
I have no idea whats going on in the inside but what Noah said was nothing but honesty from a person who was just being honest in answering questions.

Why is Skiles mad?

Skiles can't handle the truth! YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!!!!Skiles can't control this team. The 0-4 falls on Skiles and it's time for him to take some blame and stop spiting his rookie's honesty. It's not Noah's fault the truth kills Skiles.

It's time for Skiles to look in the miror and do something now!
Some egos need to fucking be squashed or heads will roll. Trust me this team has grown some egos. Just cause your picked to win the East doesn't mean you relax and jerk off to your own picture.

Get a fucking win! Beat the Pistons!

I hope they rally around their young and maybe take that into consideration and come together. Or they can just lose again and not know why............. until then Kobe! Kobe! Kobe!

Blog a Bull Nasty eleven.

Looking at the schedule for November it doesn't appear a win streak for the Bulls is comming anytime soon.

vs LA W?
vs Detroit L?
vs Toronto L?
@ Phoenix L?
@ Clippers L?
@ Lakers L?
@ Denver L
@ NY L?
@ Toronto L?
vs Atl W?

I'm sure they might be able to get a few road wins here and there but damn, talk about not taking care of your business. I didn't expect them to be  0-3 with a huge road swing insight. Maybe they believe everyone on the outside and thought the had a free ticket to the NBA Finals.

If this team doesn't get it together they maybe looking at a huge hole early which doesn't help you getting home court advantage against teams like Boston and Detriot and Toronto who seem to be the top teams in the East so far and should be winning consistantly. With trade rumors and contract distractions taking the spice out of this teams magic sauce it doesn't bode well for a mentally weak team. After watching the Bears I no longer can judge a team based on how good they should be.

How nice would (2-11) sound going into December? Now that wouldn't be the end of the season but it's just not going to be any easier seeing how the East has improved.

Of course a win could solve many a wound. Maybe thats all they need.

Don't make me write a diary about rebuilding this team around a young Tyrus Thomas. JK for now. Amazing how the failed last 20 seconds or so of reg. in the NJ game has turned into this....odd fucky stigma. Just win! The rumors will go. Just win and you'll get your damn money. Please stop losing your heads. It's one thing to be bad but it's another to be good and play like your bad. Thats mental. Get over it you pampered babies. 1. Talk on D 2. Help out 3. play smart 4. Move the fucking ball on offense 5. know the plays(Noah) 6. Take care of the ball(BG) 7. Stop with the stupid fouls(Kirk mostly) 8. Don't dwell on the source of your unhappiness. 9. Be a fucking pro and do your job your in the NBA. 10. Have some damn fun you get paid millions.

Blog a Bull Are the Bulls souring on Hinrich?

I hate to beat a dead horse but the play of Kirk Hinrich has declined ever since his USA team stint two summers ago. I don't know the reason why he can't stay in games but it's become a problem that A. he needs to figure out or B. they consider bringing him off the bench. Don't scoff! Or my favorite moving him. Like off the team.
Yes I think he's a fine person but this is beyond old. Why people adore Kirk Hinrich baffles me. Why people call Luol Deng the next great Bull is also a mystery to me but thats another story. The truth is Tyrus Thomas is and I would give up Deng or Kirk before I would trade Thomas. But back to Hinrich. Assuming the Kobe deal is dead I think the Bulls need to pinch out Hinrich and see what his value might be on the market. The Bulls may need to look at other options at the point. If things don't change with Hinrich they must look to move him. He kills the team offensively and it seems he's not the same player he was his rookie season.

November 8, 2006 Skiles on Hinrich

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4155/is_20061108/ai_n16827106

"It's something he's struggled with throughout his career so far," Skiles said. "One thing we've tried to get him to understand is there's always one foul that is a silly one. [Monday] night, it was his first one. [Michael] Redd was running away from the goal, and Kirk tried to deny him the ball and picked up his first.

Maybe it's the way his body moves in a crowd that makes the refs call fouls on him.......I don't know. I just know it's not working.

How about college?

"Obviously, I'm real happy that we won," he said after the Jayhawks hung on to beat the Illini 73-69.

He wasn't, however, real happy with the way he played. That quick 3-pointer? It was his only basket of the night, a night filled with foul trouble and a lot of time on the bench.

"I was just over there cheering," he said. "Obviously, I was ticked off, I'm not going to lie to you. But I can't sit over there and pout."

That extra adrenaline quickly got Hinrich into foul trouble, however, a nightmarish reminder of last year's game when Illinois won 80-64. This one had a similar script for Hinrich but a happier ending.

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4179/is_20020323/ai_n11777152

Hmmmmmm a theme?

last seasons playoffs.

It demonstrated the Bulls could win when not playing their best. Kirk Hinrich had a horrible day, yet the Bulls won with Thabo Sefolosha d-ing up Dwyane Wade.

What are ya going to do? Ignore it like everyone else.

Blog a Bull Juwan Howard anyone?

I know he's getting up there in age but I think it would be a smart move for the Bulls to inquire about Howard as a Bull. If the Bulls decided to move JamesOn Curry down to the DBL or maybe that ''other thing happens,'' I think it would be wise to take alook at the old Chicago product. He can still hit the 15 footer and adds a fairly solid vet to the team.

Blog a Bull More than half of NBA Refs broke gambling rules?

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AsjBPUTtqdF66mz2C.wmtqa8vLYF?slug=ap-sternspeaks&prov=ap&a mp;type=lgns

Thats nuts! I got kicked out of a game once because my shirt was untucked.(That has nothing to do with this but still) I hate refs! Does this bother anyone else? The NBA will have to bring in the CBA refs!Ha!

Blog a Bull Captain Deeeeeng

Well not big news here but Deng and Hinrich are captains. Gardner grabs 15th roster spot.

http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/fullcourtpress/

I think the NBA should do the whole captain thing like the NFL does. That C with the stars. Just another way of knowing who will get all the calls. Also I am SHOCKED that Aaron Gray is not a captain. He had such a great preseason! It's just so unfair! LEAVE AARON GRAY ALONE! LEAVE HIM ALONE YOU BASTARDS! Orrr http://youtube.com/watch?v=u3PrOu-YBv0

Blog a Bull My Northbrook court experience

Well for some odd reason I decided to take my camera to Northbrook court. Here are my thoughts....keep in mind Im a douche bag.

Where to start? Well over all I would say it was an odd experience. The sercurity and Bulls personal had a bit of a chip on their shoulders which I guess I understand they have to look out for loonies but the problem was everyone in the crowd was a bit of a douche bag. It's a mall what do you expect. Here are somethings that happened to me and my thoughts on them. Once again Iam a Douche bag.

1. I got some looks from some hot Northbrook milfs.
2. Sefolosha stilly stringed me. I got pissed and he said oh sorry man. I now dislike Sefolosha. I think he's mad because Im better looking than he is. He started it. I was just standing there. He's kind of a jerk.
3. Kirk checked me out and  I think he might be gay.(jk) He also looked at my shoes.
4. When I couldn't get autographs by not standing in line I then asked one of the Bulls personal who was flirting with me earlier if I could have her's. Ben Wallace looked at me and smiled and then looked at her and said ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. Or something like that. She then went on saying she couldn't sign autographs because her's were worth too much or something. Thats when I interupted her and asked Ben if he played on the 1998 Washington Bullets. I was then told I could not ask questions to Ben Wallace.
5. Chris Duhon is smaller than I thought. He was talking trash with Tyrus.
6. Tyrus has a little asshole in him. I now see what Sam Smith was saying.
7. Joakim ignored me. I then said to him John Starks made me cry once.
8. I told Chris Duhon his Bulls sweatshirt was sweet. He told me yeah but they don't keep you warm. I dislike Chris Duhon. Kinda an asshole.
9. Joe Smith likes to laugh at stupid cop jokes.
10. Ben Wallace seems like a nice guy.
11. Gardners nipples were at my eye when he walked by me.
12 I found it odd that Barrett and Homan were very late. I think some of the players gave them the wrong directions.
13. I got embarressed when two fat mexican guys walked by in full bulls gear and yelled Gooooooo Bulllllzzzzzzzz in a really fake macho voice.(Everyone looked) Almost like when they yelled out it was to sounds like gold and was a rally cry to a championship season. But I think it kinda creeped everyone out.
14. Deng was sucking down Starbucks Grande Vanilla bean Frappucchinos.

Overall I hate the town of Northbrook. Everyone sucks.  Assholefest 2007. I think Im still a Bulls fan but I have a different view on some of the players.

P.S. I had this feeling like I could take Chris Duhon to the whole all day.

Blog a Bull Big Ben's Magical Head Band?

OoooooooK so Im watching Fox Sports and the Bulls are letting Wallace wear his headband. Here is the best part, the rule only applies to Ben Wallace. Hmmmmmm great way to start it off. Whats Paxson say? ''It takes a coach to adapt to his players and understand it's about winning.'' Why don't they just scrap the rule? It's just odd to me.

I have a list of things I can no longer tolerate.

  1. Ben Wallace ( He still plays for the Pistons)
  2. His head band.
  3. ''Cubs Fever''
  4. Corrupt politicians at Cubs rallies.
  5. Cubs rallies

  8. Tom Brady

  10.  I have more but I'll just go with Tom Brady.

Blog a Bull Reason to really hate the Celtics now.

One full name all Bulls fans dispise, Reginald Wayne Miller!

Now there is talk that Reggie Miller wants to make a return to the NBA and the team rumored are the Boston Celtics who now seem to be this years version of the 2006 Miami Heat. Or should I call them the Miami Mercenaries? I guess you could say that about any team/ Player in the NBA to some degree. But more so with the 06 Heat. It's becoming a bit New York Yankee like to win a ring by whoring out. But Hey like I said thats they way things are these days. This just seems like maximum whorage by the Celtics if they sign Miller.
Not that Miller would improve the Celtics considering this age, time away and lasting images are of him getting his ass blocked by Prince in 2004. Atleast thats my lasting post-Jordan memory. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Spi-4_6Ugdg

If the Celtics bring Miller in then it could only add to my new found dislike for the Celtics who at one time were my second favortie NBA team based on Legacy, Uni's and Logo. It's no secrect they just might be our new found foe next to Cleveland who I do think will become more of a rival like the Knicks to the 90's Bulls. I think those trains are about to run on the same track sometime in the near future. If Boston lives up to it's billing they should be in line with Cleveland as the old circle on the calendar mama said to knock you out match up. It should be an interesting Eastern conference.

Blog a Bull Rank the East.

Lets see if this sticks. With Boston doing what they did they move up a few notches in the power rankings. I still question them outside their ''New Big Three'' and looking at their roster I can't see them wining a title with such little depth. They do have some nice players with Rando and Scalabrine, Powe, Davis, Tony Allen, Perkins as roll player but they might need more guard help so I could see them anywhere to 6th or 3rd in the East. I think Cleveland will slip a little next season because they now carry high expectations and are no longer going to sneek up on teams with players named boobie. If the Pistons would have guarded the one man show with a double team maybe things would have been different. Anyways I see Detroit and Cleveland slipping some and the rise or Toronto and Orlando. Even maybe a Knicks sighting for the eight spot? Well here are my rankings. What are yours?

1.Chicago- Deepest team in the East.
2.Toronto- Nice young hard working team on the rise.
3.Detroit- Soild vets but loosing steam.
4.Orlando- The rise of Redick and the addition of Lewis
5.Cleveland- Have LBJ but nobody is a suprise now. (Boobies)
6.Boston- The green triangle will be tough but still lacks depth
7 NJ- Vets and all the loss of Mikkie Moore will hurt them.
8.New York- They will be fighting for eight

on the brink....Wiz,Bobcats,Bucks Miami.

Blog a Bull Wow a game in question, Bulls vs. Warriors

Well times be rough if your an NBA fan these days. I haven't really been blogabulling as much but I found this nice little article today on Onlythebulls.com

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/24/sports/basketball/24play.html?_r=1&ref=sports&oref=slogin

Pretty interesting read seeing how it looks to me he did infact move the Warriors center out of the defensive violation area.

This whole ref thing is kinda depressing just cause it only adds to the bad rep our sport world is getting with Roids to dog fights/killings and mafia tied refs. Anyways I think it time to clean up like Mark Cuban said. I remember the Jail Blazers getting hosed hard core in 2000. Ever since then I have had a feeling there was alot of shadey happenings going on. Oh they should arrest Hue Hollins now just for being Hue Hollins.
Foul my ass!

I didn't spell check at all. I just don't care.

Blog a Bull and Lunch Joe? (Smith, Mihm, Moore)

Lunch Joe?

But the Bulls, who likely would have to spend most or all of the midlevel salary cap exception of roughly $5.5 million to sign Smith, sold their vision and opportunity to win during a lunch with Smith, Paxson and coach Scott Skiles.~ Chi Trib. Bulls Killer or Mihm? A similar recruiting pitch will follow Friday with Nets big man and Bulls-killer Mikki Moore. Saturday, Lakers center-forward Chris Mihm, who missed all of last season following ankle surgery, will visit the Berto Center.~ Chi Trib. Well I kinda likey. Joe Smith? Hmmmnm let me think about that.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=iNaywrlMdLY&mode=related&search=

As far as Joe Smith I kinda have seen him play but I don't remember, nothing sticks out. I remember Jordan schooling him once when he was hot shit in G.S. But Jordan fucked up the NBA Nation back then.

I like Mikki Moore out of the group......... I know what your saying he's not really a post guy but damn...... Nocioni, Tyrus, Noah, Moore if you could take the four of them and convert their energy into fuel...... well gents then I think we got something.

Blog a Bull 38 Million? Damn (UPDATED)

[UPDATE(7/6): Today's trib reports that the Grizzlies aren't willing to get into a bidding war for Nocioni. And that Pax is going against his usual philosophy regarding restricted Free Agents (letting other teams set the market) because of Noc's "value". gag.]

[From the Diaries. I hope this is some ploy by Paxson to get Memphis involved (I'll choose to wistfully ignore this), I really don't see the rush in re-signing Noc, and the more I think about it the less I want him re-signed at all. The problem with signing Noc to a 5-year contract is that he's then untradeable, and it's quite a commitment to the 3rd string PF (lets just assume we get a scoring big man, for kicks, and Noc is behind that guy and Tyrus) and non-Deng SF duty. -Matt]

The Bulls offer Nocioni 38 millionish to resign with the Bulls?

Wow I don't think the Gasol trade is going down because it doesn't sound like the Grizz are trading him. Seems like alot of cash for th Redbull but I would love to see him back. So now it's a waiting game to see if the Grizz match.

Blog a Bull Nocioni gets offer sheet. Summer league Roster.

I don't know for how much or what the numbers are but I heard on Comcast Sports Net Chicago that the Grizz have offer Red Bull an offer sheet.

Need a post guy? Try trading for him? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LV1phCgmIS4&NR=1

I love Youtube. You can almost find anything. http://youtube.com/watch?v=cT2bH--_iUc
J.O. getting his ass blocked. This is why I hate most NBA players, watch through the end as Luis Scola gets kicked.

Ok here is the summer league roster as of right now. Exciting.

Joakim Noah, Aaron Gray and JamesOn Curry are on it, although a shoulder injury will sideline Noah. Thabo Sefolosha, Tyrus Thomas, Andre Barrett and Martynas Andriuskevicius from last year's team will play. And UIC's Richard Lesko and DePaul's Lance Williams. -Chicago Tribune.

Anyone see Joakim, Gray and JamesOn throw the first pitch?
Joakim was wearing A.J.'s number 12 Sox jersey with the name Booosznsky. Kinda funny. I guess A.J. said he is going to show him around Chicago. Off to a great start Noah. He said it was his first baseball game and he would wait and see what the Northside is like before picking sides. Then I thought to myslef who would Noah root for. It's really hard.

 1. He's very loyal. Reinsdorf is a NYC guy also. So thats a case for the Sox.

  1. But he loves to Party. So thats a case for the Cubs.
  2. I could see him take on the bad boy southside image. So thats one for the Sox.
  3. A.J. is a Gator also so thats another case of the Sox.
  4. He loves to be retarded so thats a case for the Cubs.
  5. He hated MJ, so chalk it up for Cubs.
  6. He loves to Win! So thats yet another case for the............Cubs. Hahahah. Cubs Win! Cubs Win!
But in the end I say Noah would side with the Sox because he's Loyal to Jerry and A.j. his guyz. His new hommies.

Blog a Bull The Trade full cricle.

So in the end it was Tyrus and Noah for Curry and all the other fillers of garbage.( Sweets, Thomas, Blah blah blah)

http://www.nba.com/media/bulls/skiles_050118.jpg (Better Days)

This to me is a hard subject to really analyze. I think it's time to talk about it though. I was one of the Biggest fans of the drafting of Curry and Chandler. I remember being so jacked up when they made the trade with Elton Brand because at that time the trend was High School players could come in and change the league. The rise of KG, Kobe, T-Mac was changing the way people looked at drafting. I loved the idea of the Twin towers and really bought into the idea that some day the Bulls would rule the East with two athletic seven footers.

I heard all the rumors that Chandler didn't really wana put in the work and the trainers became frustrated with him. I know the situation with Curry's heart the liability factor and all. I have also heard the radio rumors that the Bulls do have regrets on trading Curry. Whether thats true or not I have no idea.

Thing with me is all issues a side I think the Bulls could have gone deeper in the long run with Curry and Chandler. I feel that Curry and Chandler made each other better. Curry took on the scoring load and Chandler rebounded and played defense. I know the negatives about both that Chadler was always in foul trouble and Curry was lazy. So it still remains to be seen if Tyrus and Noah will mesh and become better alternatives.

We will never know what would could have been had Curry been healthy and Chandler worked harder. I do think they would have beat the Pistons and been in the ECF.

I guess in the end it was something that had to be done. They all needed to move on and it's just something we'll never really know about how that team would have faired had it stayed intact. Assuming no trades.........

 Hinrich          Hinrich
 Gordon          Gordon
 Deng              Deng
 Chandler        Tyrus
 Curry              Noah

All and all I think the Bulls are better now knowing all the factors that played a part in the Krause Towers dismantling. I still think there is going to be a major trade this summer with the Bulls.

I guess Noah missed his plane due to sercurity issues? Why didn't he get a private jet? Yeahhhhhh. Anyways I think he was hung over and wanted to spend the weekend in NYC. Paxson must have made this up. Oh well I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Although I wonder if the London Bombing had something to do with it? Has anyone heard anything?

Blog a Bull Kobe Video released and Audio if you care.

http://www.thekobevideo.com/

I know it's nothing new but its kinda cool hearing him say ''get a Bulls uniform fellas.'' Are you sure? ''Yup!''

I almost wana say Paxson is going to be involved in some kinda of Kobe talks after July 1st. I could be wrong but I think Pax is just playing his cards when he says there's nothing going on. Funny he's texting Kobe Bryant though. That seems a bit odd.

Anyways I know you guys don't like the idea of trading for him but Im in the party that if you can get him for only minor damage then Im all for it. I almost feel like the Lakers will cave in and have to take the best deal the Bulls are willing to give them. I think the Leverage has swung to Pax and Kobe and they seem to be phone buddies now. Anyways thats the video and I guess we'll see down the road. But tonight I wana see Joakim with a Bulls hat.

Blog a Bull Predict the top ten.

I thought we could all try to take a crack at predicting the top 10. I would love to do this for cash and then maybe you could all pay me at the draft party when I win. I kid.

It really has been a crazy offseason and I have that two week superbowl feeling creeping in. Im sick of talk and I need some action. These major trades are turing into jokes. I almost don't even read them anymore it's become so bedraggled.

The thing with the 9th pick is I don't really see an inside scorer. So if the pick is not traded then take the best prospect on the board.

Why you ask? Simple I say, because then it's part of a package later on down the road.

To me Hawes seems like Will Purdue/ Vlade Divac type.http://cache.deadspin.com/sports/vladedivaclady.jpg hmmm no thanks. I hate watching big slow guys getting dunked on.

I really like the Idea of drafting the (BPA) best player Available. This would give the Bulls another chip for a trade package down the road. So then I would think the idea might be to pick the best player with name recognition but at the same time could fill a need in case a trade falls through and your stuck with the player. So players that fill that bill would be Corey Brewer or Joakim Noah who are both well known players that might be at 9.

My sleepers are Al Thorton, Jason Smith, Rudy Fernandez
and Sean Williams.

Knowing the Bulls like I do or Skiles the player picked at 9 won't see much time next season anyways so why not take (BPA). This pick is a bonus anyways so what the hell. I pretty sure whomever the pick will be thursday will be part of some package down the road. My theory is (NRBPA) Name Recognition Best Player Available. aka trade bait.

So the idea for this diary is predict your top ten and then predict who the Bulls might take at 49 and 51. You never know every now and then teams get lucky in the latter parts of drafts. It's rare but it can happen.  I am going to have fun with this and be creative so here is my picks.

  1. Kevin Durant- Portland
  2. Greg Oden- Seattle
  3. Mike Conley Jr - Atlanta
  4. Al Horford- Memphis
  5. Jeff Green- Boston
  6. Corey Brewer- Milwaukee
  7. Joakim Noah-  Minnesota
  8. Brandon Wright - Charlotte
  9. Yi Jianlian- Chicago
  10. Acie Law- Sacramento
49 Chris Richard  51 Glen Davis for Tyrus.

Blog a Bull Kiss Kobe to Bulls good bye?

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/basketball/nba/06/25/bulls.kobe.ap/index.html

Well if Pax says it cost too much to give up for him then I believe it cost too much. I asume they would want both Tyrus and Deng and I wouldn't blame Paxson if thats the case.

So now they want KG but I don't understand how Kobe can go back to the Lakers after he ripped them and called the owner an idiot. But it's all about the bottomline so who cares. Well it was a fun summer of rumors so now I guess it's back to who do the Bulls pick at 9.

Blog a Bull I hate Sam Smith!

I got a source that Kobe was with his wife here in Orange County a few days ago shopping. Few fans came up to get his autograph, which he nicely stopped and signed. One guy told him, "Kobe please don't leave. we want you to stay a Lakers for life." Kobe then responded with, "You must be joking, man, you must be joking. There's no way. We're moving to Chicago." That source is from a friend of mine who works at that place and is one of the BIGGEST Lakers fan I know. What do you think that means? Do you hear anything going on there in Chicago? --Ancel, Santa Ana, Calif.

There's a thing floating around on the internet of a fan who claims to have a cell phone video and audio of Kobe trashing his team and is trying to sell it to a media organization. What, that's news? You should have heard Jordan in the locker room. Or Bird trying to get McHale to work hard. It happens all the time. Kobe has made it clear he's not happy with his team. How many more times do we need to hear it? But your friend has it wrong. Kobe is a huge fan of the old Chicago Transit Authority band, which later became Chicago. He always says, "We're grooving to Chicago."

This will be the last Ask Sam of the season. For those of you on hold, hang in there and I'll get to you in October.

Can we get any better Basketball writers in this town? I swear everytime I watch him on comcast sportsnet I wana slap him. I really have become disapointed in the Chicago basketball beat writers. KC Johnson sucks and so does everyone else. I want Sam Smith's job. I mean I would rather read something Matt wrote in the Tribune than any of these BS beat writters. I think some people on here are more knowlegeable than major news papers.

Whats with ESPN getting everything wrong with rumors and all? Do you find it funny how the media can't get good info anymore. Sam seems jealous about the fact that the Kobe video guys are getting more on Kobe than his Media mafia friends.

Blog a Bull Just a question about adding Jpegs.

Hi does anyone know the best way to add a Jpeg on Blogabull?
I did some photoshopping of KG and would like to share it. I'm computer retarded so if anyone has the answer to my question let me know.

Oh it says I need more thought. Ok well does anyone listen to the Score670? Or more like Baseball670. I mean I know it's baseball season but what the hell can't they talk some basketball or football? I swear if I have to hear one more thing about Michael Barrett I'm going to throw the radio it so frustrating how its all baseball and the fact that they are now the flagship station for the White Sox is even worse. I used to be a fan of B&B but the past year and a halfish I have tired of their winny bs. I listen to 1000 but for whatever reason I don't get it in my car that well. I mean you get some basketball talk on Mully and Handley but then it seems like mostly baseball. Great now they are talking about KG as I type this. But still it's way too baseball dominated.

Blog a Bull Mikki Moore? Should BG go back to 6th man? Other stuff.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=8gVJYwV5B4g

http://youtube.com/watch?v=gdeu4NXpzi0&mode=related&search= (remember this?)

I was reading Sam's mailbag(http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls/askthewriter/cs-070615asksamsmith,1, 1222446.story?page=3&coll=cs-bulls-headlines) and the name Mikki Moore came up. I know many of you aren't fans but I kinda like how he gets tip outs and can knock down big shots. He also plays like a someone stole his lemonade. He really needs to bulk up but I think he would be a nice fit for the Bulls and they might be able to get him for cheap. Now Im not saying he would be the inside guy everyone wants but a nice back up big man to come off the bench and give you some nice minutes. I don't know just idea but as much as I hated him when the Bulls played NJ I wouldn't mind seeing that on the Bulls as like say in what used to be Sweetney's roster spot.

So Paxson was pissed about the whole ''Michael Sweetney sighting for three minutes in Game 2 when the out-of-shape 300-pounder hadn't been off the bench in the previous three weeks.'' - Hanley http://www.suntimes.com/sports/basketball/bulls/429522,CST-SPT-bull15.article ( So was I, thanks Scott!)

If Skiles(he put victor on lebron wtf) and Pax do have a riff and someday it does come to a point when they have to axe angry bald w/ red face one(http://www.need4sheed.com/images/skiles2.jpg) then I would love to see Pax hire Scottie as the next coach.(http://www.nba.com/media/bulls/pippen_paxson_031112.jpg) I mean why not look at Mike Brown. NBA coaches are alittle over rated. (http://weblog.live.advance.net/mtlogs/mlive_flintjournalextra/images/0509pistons04.jpg)

I hear Du likes to party like a rockstar and that's funny this is being printed in the papers now because I had come across many odd photos of Du on the internet getting his boggie on ( No shirt on) with hot white chicks. Can't blame him except for the fact that he can't wake up and get to work on time.  Damn wish he could hit a 3 ball when you need it. I like Du but he really sucks at shooting and being taller and being good. http://www.flickr.com/photos/stewmac/415645137/in/set-72157594578959707/ Thanks Boerwinkle! ( does he still blog here?is he alive?)

The future of the Utah Jazz.........http://www.flickr.com/photos/stewmac/415645026/in/set-72157594578959707/

(tell me that in 1998) What would be your thoughts of moving BG back to the 6th man role? I kinda like the idea but that may require Kirk to look for his shot more which I think he needs to kinda do anyways. He seemed to be getting alittle Bronbron(of the finals) on us with his pass first mind set. If your the leader than you have to take the hard shot nobody wants to really take cause there is a big 7 foot man running at you.

Anyways..... so if not a big trade for the Bulls

Wallace/ Hawes/ Brown/
Tyrus/ Moore/ 2nd/
Deng/ Nocioni/ 2nd/
Sefo/ Gordon/ Griff/
Kirk/ Du/

Damn Pax please get some ballers! I just said Mikki Moore!

Blog a Bull Whaaaaa? Bigger backcourt clearly Bulls' aim?

Sam Smith [KC Johnson, actually -ed.] http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls/cs-070607bulls,1,2705667.story?coll= cs-bulls-headlines

Are the Bulls thinking trade? Or are they thinking minor tweak and sending BG back to the sixth man role? They want more size in the back court? Or are they just trying to get a good look at every draft prospect?

Well I don't see them moving BG back to the bench because Im not sure he's cool with that role anymore.

Not really sure what to make of Sam's article but it is interesting twist.

Dealing the 6-1 Duhon in some package to address the Bulls' biggest need of a proven frontline player and then drafting Duhon's replacement is just one option the Bulls must consider. Who would wana point man like Du?

(Reason for so many big guards at the workout)

I was saying that myself, but they're short around the perimeter so I guess they're trying to get some bigger guys and build for the future," the 6-7 1/2 Young said. Maybe they are thinking of bigs in the second round? I know it's just a workout so I won't make a big deal out of this but sorta interesting to get an inside look.
