Canes Country New 300 level hang out spot

I went to the opener last night against the Caps and did my walk around of the 300 level ring.  I noticed a nice little bar area complete with tables and chairs and some standing space along the walls.  Kudos to the Canes for giving the 300 level a place to hang out and although it's small, it's still a meeting place and a nice addition.

Also notice a very small walk in store...

Lets go Canes

Canes Country 3rd shift sucks for a Canes fan; Bruins brutalize Canes.

I have been pouring over the Bruins trouncing of our beloved Canes and believe this showed two things...our defense is out of position a lot and we are tough, but are getting our butts whooped on. It's either the game you want to forget or you relish, because the next time the two teams meet, it will be an all out throw down.  Leighton looked really timid and slow and I know it's still early but he looked like he was on a seven second radio delay.

Staal showed the toughness needed by our future captain and returned after twenty something stitches.  I was cringing when he was barking to the Boston player behind the goal saying, don't rip those stitches out. Maybe we needed out behinds kicked, sometimes that wakes you up.  Lets hope the Canes wake up and start playing some sound D, and I hear the Y has a self defense course this fall.  I kid, I kid...

V.S. sucks...

Lets go Canes....

shout out to section 328

miss all you guys, hockeymom, Iggy, jenniwa, PittsburgCaniac.

Canes Country Let's go Canes.  Poll

Ok so the Carolina Hurricanes are down 3-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals.  The Canes need one win to get this rolling and make a series out of this.  The probability of this is slim if you look at history.  See link for details.  The defense needs to play a lot better for Ward since the Pens are capable of putting up 6 goals easily if they don't. Have the Canes run out of mojo?  Are the Canes tired?  They look tired to me.

Are you giving up on the Canes?  Lets hope not.

Lets go Canes!

Canes Country Canes win... The Roll at the Rock

This Carolina Hurricanes/New Jersey Devils series had everything a hockey fan could want.  Back and forth wins the first five games.  Two overtime games that were nail biters till the end.  Great goaltending, and the hottest goalie in the league, Cam Ward.  Add to that, two games won in the last minute of regulation play, and to finish it off, the Carolina Hurricanes won two games in a row against the future hall of fame goalie, Martin Brodeur.

What a series to win, and what a way for the Devils to loose.  Two evenly matched teams and nobody was probably watching outside of New Jersey and Raleigh markets.  Now the NHL network highlights will be more tolerable since Canes fans can watch the highlights over and over for two days every hour on the hour.

Game seven had Canes fans thinking who would step up and put the biscuit in the basket at a critical time.  Well it was actually two players: Jussi Jokinen at 18:40 of the third period and then Eric Staal at 19:28.

Anyone have a good recipe for Boston Clam Chowder?

Canes Country Woodoo Hoodoo

Last night the Carolina Hurricanes finished off the NJ Devils thanks to Tim Gleason's 'no look' slap shot from the blue line and tying the series at 1-1.  The mojo bag of Nic Wallin was apparently used to bless the hockey stick of Gleason before the game and boy did it ever pay off, with Gleason's goal finding its way past Brodeur. Tripp Tracy turned prophetic when announcing before the goal about that the blessing. For the Devils loosing an OT game in your own building has to be disappointing, and the shift in momentum to the Canes, which will host the third game Sunday, is all too important.

Players stepping up and playing well are going to have an important part in whether or not the Canes play on.

Step one:

1) Overcome a bad game and come out hitting and skating well the next game,

Check.

Canes Country Chad LaRose on NHL network...your take on this

Chad on NHL network ...what did you like about this.

It starts out with Chad at home with his two dogs and his drive into the RBC. He is putting tape on his hockey stick and chatting with others in the locker room. He gives Cole some kidding and says hello to Rod. He gives Staal some greif about being able to dunk a basketball.

He is really a good sport and a very good guy to do this.

I will let Bubba review this in detail..

Go Canes

Canes Country Johnny Bower a fav of mine. Who is your all time favorite goalie?

I caught the NHL network special on Johnny Bower, the hall of fame goalie that played for the Toronto Maple Leafs.  The program highlighted his life and career and showed how tough those 'old time hockey' guys were.

And to boot he is a really honest and all around good guy.

link to NHL network listings.

Check out his history here and look for the replay on NHL network....look for a show named "Pioneers".

Replay is April 2nd at 8:30 PM
