Podium Cafe Dreams Teams - If cycling were converted to a league system

You can now show support for your European football team both at the soccer stadium and at the track - Superleague Racing.

Is anyone intrested in creating Dream Teams - teams in which you can select any 27 riders, justifying each.

Unlike the Rugby Dream XV, all the riders must be currently active - this includes those returning from suspension - the team's goal would be to ride at least two Grand Tours, and all classics - so care is needed in not choosing two many riders with the goal of winning the same event.

These teams can also include Track teams, Elite Women, U23 Men and Elite Men.

Anyone interested?

Podium Cafe Return of the Prodigal Sons

Most first time narcotic offenders are delt with a bit of empathy, allowed to either serve in the community or face a  jail term and after that they go back into society and move on - why is it they are not all treated the same in cycling?

Example, when one rider returned there was a big cheer, Vino returns and no welcome back party. I'm not sympathising with criminals but are we as a society shunning certain riders and embracing others even though they've committed a similar crime?

How will we treat Rasmussen when he returns? What about the naive kids - Ricco and Kohl. What about Valverde if he has to serve time for his past sins, will we forever resent them or will eventually let them back into the fold?

Podium Cafe Bruyneel deserters

What has happened to some of the leaders or lieutenants who turned their backs on Johan when they had gained prominence by means of him?

Hamilton - down and out,

Heras - no where to be found,

Landis - on a continental team and no longer the same,

Pena - once the "significant other" now where is he - at Rock with three top tens in five years,

Savodelli - no major results since the TT win at the '07 Giro

Others have gone on to greater success, e.g. Boonen, DaveZ, Dean, Devolder, Hesjedal, Hincapie,... they all did so with Johan's blessing but, what about Alberto, do you think he'll make it without Johan?

Podium Cafe Why Lance Armstrong is the Most Improved Rider (in my opinion)

Few of us no doubt remember back in '97 when we heard the news that LA was no longer regarded with the living. His french team forsook him to the Grim Reaper however, even Death was no match for Lance.

A couple of months later he returns on the and finishs fourth in the Vuelta and from then on won Le Tour for seven consecutive years thereby earning him the title "The Boss." In '05 much to our dissappointment the king resigns and leaves the throne empty only to be filled two years later by El Pistolero.

For over two years Lance was out of competitive cycling and only now has he made a return. Finishing in the top twenty of all the races he finished both on the road and mtb. In the Tour he finished third ahead of the pack who had at least three years to raise their game - now that's improvement especially when you take into account his age.

Do you agree with the above? If not, why and I'm not looking for "...because he's a doper..." etc

Since '99, Lance has stood on 8 Tour podiums.

For comparison purposes please only include riders that race with the same goal as he does i.e. to win overall, not sprint like Cav or tt's like Fabu
