Clutch: Broncos' Kicker Matt Prater

+
Clutch (adj.): Tending to be successful in tense or critical situations. That is the one word that can precisely describe the season—and career—that Broncos fifth-year kicker Matt Prater has had. In critical situations with the game on the line, Denver's placekicker has come through time and time again.

As a result, three players have recorded 17.0 or more sacks this season, opposed to zero last year and one in 2009. Broncos rookie linebacker Von Miller and defensive end Elvis Dumervil have combined for 21.0 sacks this season, with 9.5 of them coming from Dumervil over the past eight weeks. (Continue reading)

Denver Broncos get into the Christmas Spirit

With two days until Denver plays the Bills, the Broncos have gotten into the Christmas spirit. On the flight to Buffalo this afternoon, the offense sported ugly Christmas sweaters, per 850 KOA.

Denver Sackmasters: Dumervil and Miller

2

Over the past seven weeks, Dumervil has recorded at least half a sack each week (which is the longest streak of his career and the longest active streak in the NFL). Miller is also one of just three players with at least a half sack in 10-plus games this season despite missing Week 13 with a thumb injury.

Real Quotes from a Tebow Hater

How the Broncos can neutralize Jared Allen

2

"We’ll definitely have our work cut out for us getting prepared for him this week," Broncos Coach John Fox said of Minnesota’s Jared Allen on Wednesday. In order to neutralize Allen and his pass rushing ability, the Broncos will want to put him in a situation similar to what they did with Kansas City’s Tamba Hali two weeks ago. (Read more)

Foxball: Run; Defend; Win

2

In 2003, Fox was a first-year head coach of the Carolina Panthers and took the team deep into the post season using the same philosophy he has installed in Denver. That season, the Panthers scored 20.3 points per game and rushed for 2,091 yards. The Panthers quarterback, Jake Delhomme, completed 59.2% of his passes that season and turned the ball over 22 times yet still managed to lead the team to an 11-5 record due to a consistent rushing attack and reliable defense. The Panthers made it all the way to Super Bowl in 2003, only to lose 32-29 in overtime to the New England Patriots. This season, since quarterback Tim Tebow was named the starter, the Broncos have scored 19.3 points per game and rushed for 1,248 yards. Tebow meanwhile has only completed 47.1% of his passes but has also only turned the ball over twice — twenty times less than Delhomme, albeit in fewer games; Tebow has done a great job of protecting the football this season. Film Study: Broncos' Read Option Stumped Raiders

+

The Broncos ran the play seventeen times in all, with McGahee rushing for 125 yards off of twelve carries in the read option, including his 60 and 23-yard touchdown runs. Tebow kept the ball three times for 68 yards and reserve back Lance Ball saw two carries for three yards.

Miller, Tebow Nominated for Weekly Awards

+

Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow and rookie linebacker Von Miller have both been nominated for weekly awards on NFL.com. Miller has been nominated for Rookie of the Week and Tebow has been nominated for the GMC Never Say Never award for their respective performances in Week Seven.

Broncos’ Von Miller on track for historic season

1

On Sunday, Broncos rookie linebacker Von Miller became just the tenth rookie in NFL history to record six sacks through six games when he took down Miami’s Matt Moore to force a third and long situation and ultimately a punt.

Tebow to Thomas becoming a nice connection

5

Tebow targeted Thomas ten times on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, which resulted in three connections for 27 yards and a touchdown. Many of Tebow’s passes were erratic ones, which partly explains why Thomas was thrown to ten times and only recorded three catches. However, it was clear Thomas was Tebow’s go-to-guy and his accuracy got better as the game went on. (Read more by clicking here)

Ed McCaffrey: It’s Going To Be A Party In Miami

12

"It’s going to be a big party in Miami, man. There are going to be more Denver fans than Miami Dolphin fans," McCaffrey laughed, pointing out Tebow played for the Florida Gators. "I predict a big Bronco victory in his first game and a lot of Tebow jerseys in the stands."

McDaniels Scrapped Inherited Revolutionary Scouting Technology

11

Former General Manager of the Denver Broncos, Ted Sundquist, recently wrote an article about a high-tech scouting system which was developed by the Broncos and which he says would have been worth "hundreds of thousands of dollars." The system, says Sundquist, was taken for granted by Josh McDaniels and immediately scrapped. With the arrival of McDaniels, "back came the magnetic boards, back came the name tags, back came the binders."

Examining the Broncos trade of Brandon Lloyd

2

The Denver Broncos announced on Monday that the team had traded receiver Brandon Lloyd to the St. Louis Rams for a conditional pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. The conditional pick currently stands as a sixth round selection which could become a fifth rounder if Lloyd catches thirty or more passes this season for the Rams. It is likely that Lloyd will in fact catch at least that many passes in Josh McDaniels‘ offense, so it’s safe to say the Broncos basically traded Lloyd for a fifth round pick. At first appearance, a mid-round selection may not sound like fair compensation for a Pro Bowl receiver, but after taking a closer look, the trade was a win-win for both sides. Join linebacker Wesley Woodyard for an MVP Dinner benefiting his 16Ways Foundation on Nov. 1st

+

On the field, Denver Broncos fourth year linebacker Wesley Woodyard is a special teams captain and tackling machine, leading the team with 43 stops through five games this season. Off the field, the former Kentucky Wildcat is one of the more active players in the community. In 2010, Woodyard was the Broncos recipient of the Walter Payton Man of the Year honor, an award that recognizes players that personify leadership on and off the field and who have demonstrated significant impact through community service. On Tuesday, November 1st, Wesley Woodyard will host an MVP dinner to benefit the 16Ways Foundation at Sullivan's Steakhouse in Denver. (Read more here)

Moreno finds a role in Denver’s offense

2

Former Georgia running back Knowshon Moreno has never developed into the kind of runner we all hoped he would, but the third year back seems to have finally found a role in Denver’s offense — as a receiving threat. (Read more)
