How much is on the line for Todd Haley this week against the Patriots?
As much as the Chiefs-Patriots connections have been highlighted this week, I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk about how Haley's job security factors into the outcome of this game. The Chiefs are heading into Monday night as two touchdown underdogs so, obviously, nobody is giving us much of a chance to pull out a victory. This is a bit of a family reunion of sorts for Pioli and, considering it's a Monday night game, the subject of how this team has progressed under Pioli's reign will be a hot topic. A poor showing by our squad is going to reflect directly on Pioli on national television and in front of his former colleagues. There is no doubt in my mind that Haley will be the scapegoat if we are demolished on Monday night. What do you guys think? Is there added pressure on Haley to give the Pats a run for their money considering his boss's history with the Patriots organization?
"Is it bad when Kansas City Chiefs players are getting wasted with you in VIP at 2 am the night before a game?" - Local rapper Mac Lethal tweets this the night before the Chiefs are stomped by the Dolphins. Hmmmm.

One rule that needs to change
I'm writing this in the middle of the game but I feel the need to vent about a rule that I think has been overlooked. It involves the defense being offsides. The Cowboys have been jumping offsides almost every play this particular series and they caught a break on one particular play. After one of the offsides penalties, we got called for holding and the penalties offset. This isn't right. When a defensive player jumps offsides, it's a free play and the offense shouldn't be called for any penalties after that. What if the offensive lineman realizes there is an offsides penalty and is simply trying to protect his quarterback? This is something I believe that needs to be addressed. How do I get in contact with the commissioner? I'm serious.
the '89 season
So things haven't been so great for the 2009-2010 Chiefs so far. The last time our organization went through the kind of change it is going through now was exactly twenty years ago. I was still too young to remember any of this so I invite those APers who do remember that season to share their thoughts in this post. Were there any parallels? I know the '89 Chiefs got off to a slow start as well but was it as bad as this one? Do you see the Chiefs improving throughout the season and start winning like the '89 team did? Let me know what you guys think and, for those of you who were too young or not even born yet, here's a brief recap of our '89 season:
The 1989 season
The Seattle Seahawks either decided their normal uniforms weren't ugly enough or it was just laundry day. Is it just me or does the NFL need to step in here because this is just ridiculous.
The Injury Bug: A Conspiracy?
I've been skeptical of the Chiefs' injury report lately. Why? Well... we haven't been winning many games so what else do I have to do other than explain some ridiculous conspiracy theory I conjured up in my free time?
The Chiefs lack talent but are much tougher and have class
The first quarter of today's loss agaisnt Baltimore looked way too familiar. We couldn't score and we couldn't stop anybody. I was ready to hang it up and go out for a bike ride. I kept thinking that there is no way I can take another season of this. Luckily, Todd Haley and his team didn't share my mentality.
don't know if anyone is watching the Broncos and Bears tonight but they interviewed Harrison just now and he was saying he couldn't understand why the Broncos wanted to trade a proven starter (Cutler) for a career backup (Cassel). What do you think guys? Either he's right or he continues to do what he does best; take cheap shots.
Rodney Harrison labels Matt Cassel as a career backup.
Bowe led the team with three catches and 37 yards, including a touchdown catch in traffic. Haley used his first training camp to teach many lessons to his new team, but the time for motivational games and lessons is over.
Look for Bowe to be back in the starting lineup for Kansas City's third preseason win. It's time to start trying to win.
