California Golden Blogs Why I hate the 'furd

So many reasons, so little time. Here are a few of mine, feel free to add your own.

Leland Stanford

The namesake and founder of the 'furd made his fortune on the backs of Chinese immigrants, then supported legislation that specifically discriminated against them. What an asshole.

Herbert Hoover

It's never a good thing when massive shanty towns are built in your honor.

Hoover Institute

The 'farm is home to the Hoover Institute, a horrible collection of neocon "thinkers" such as Victor Davis Hanson, Donald Rumsfeld, Shelby Steele, and Condeleezza Rice just to name a few. These people spend their days finding new wars to start and new social programs to cut.

The city of Palo Alto

Berkeley may have a severe homeless problem, but at least we've got some style. Palo Alto is a bland, heartless amalgamation of strip malls and chain stores.

John Elway

Sure the man was talented, but he's the charter member of the Whiners Hall of Fame. The man could whine with the best of them.

---

I'm sure I could think of many, many more if given the time. GO BEARS!

Addicted To Quack Cal fan checking in

Hey Oregon fans,

I'm a Cal fan checking in to say hello. I've always had a lot of respect for Oregon and I'm looking forward to this weekend's contest between the two teams.

From an outsiders perspective, it looks like the the Oregon offense has really come together this year, led by the insane play of Dixion. I don't see how he isn't in the Heisman talk at this point. If he played for any school in the SEC he certainly would be.

As for Cal, 4-0 is a certainly a good start but the team has yet to play up to its potential. Longshore's play at quarterback has been inconsistent. At times he plays like one of the best QBs in the nation. Then he 2-hops a swing pass or overthrows a 5-yard out. The running game has been exceptional, as has the offensive line. I would like to see DeSean Jackson more involved, but we have a lot of weapons to spread the ball around.

I think defense is a question mark for both teams. Cal has given up a fair amount of yards & points, but so far has come up with the big play when necessary.

All in all, I think it's going to be a fantastic game. If Cal plays up to it's potential I think it will be close all the way to the end. Might be one of those "last team to have the ball wins" sort of games.

Anyway-here's to a great game. Let the hype begin!
