Bucs Dugout Keith Law Updated Mock 3.0

For what it's worth, (Law is usually pretty dialed into the draft/scout circles) he has the Bucs now taking Tallion, after giving the Pirates  Machado in his other two mock drafts. I'd be fine with either Machado or Tallion, but would rather take a chance on the high upside arm, because there are so few in the system. (not to say SS is stocked position by any means.)   Keith Law Mock 3.0

Bucs Dugout ESPN MLB the Magazine Preview

interesting mlb preview in ESPN the Magazine. ZiPS was used to simulate the full 2010 season 100 times. They list a pie chart for every division, showing how many times each team won the division per simulation. Unfortunately the chart on the website shows the NL East results instead of the NL Central, and i left my magazine at home, so I forget how many times St. Louis, Chicago, and Cincy were picked to win per 100. The Buccos actually came up the division winner 3 times. Houston received a fat zero.

They also listed a graph of the win/loss averages from the 100 simulations...

Buccos averaged 73.7 wins / 88.3 losses / .455 winning pct / (most wins) 87 / (most losses) 103

Behind the Steel Curtain Cromartie from SD?

From an espn report....

Sources: Chargers eye trade scenarios

It says they are really looking for running back help, but draft picks could be a possibility.  Not sure if the 18th pick would be enough but it should be a route to explore to help boost the secondary. Cromartie had a down year, but is still only 25 years old, and could be inserted immediately into the starting lineup, something that isn't likely to happen with Lewis or Burnett by the start of next season..

Bucs Dugout Pirates aquire P Eric Hacker from the Yankees

Was recently designated for assignment. Found an interesting quote from Jorge Posada talking about Hacker on a Yank's site....

Jorge Posada liked what he saw from Melancon. His fastball, he said, has a late cut and that is what was leading to the swing and misses. Posada also liked his curveball.

Meanwhile, here’s a little tidbit from the catcher. As he was walking away from his locker, he turned around and called a few of us over. “Keep an eye on (Eric) Hacker,” he said. “It’s 95 and he does it easy. Very impressive.”

Now that doesn't sound like the type of guy that teams give away easily, so take it for what it's worth, but thought it was interesting. Here is the link to Dejan's Blog about the transaction.. PBC Blog Report on Hacker
