So it looks like this Santa Clara Stadium might go through
Of course, I'd like for the San Francisco 49ers to stay in San Francisco, but Newsom has created such a bad situation for the team, that this seems like a certainty. I just hope they don't change the name........

Jason Taylor Released, Pursue?
Press Release - The Washington Redskins announced today that they have released defensive end Jason Taylor.
In 2008, his lone season with the club, Taylor started eight of the 13 games in which he played. He totaled 36 tackles, 3.5 sacks and nine passes defensed.
"Jason Taylor was a real professional during his time with the Redskins," Head Coach Jim Zorn said. "He played hurt, but still gave his best effort to be prepared and play hard every week. We wish him and his family the very best.
Thoughts? Should we pursue? Would we still have the money if this Warner thing goes through??I still think he has some left in the tank.

Fishing Boat with NFL Players Missing (UPDATED 3/2 12:37pm)
From ABC comes a scary story out of Florida. Three NFL players are on a fishing boat that is missing off the Gulf Coast in Clearwater.
One reportedly plays for the Lions, and another plays for the Raiders.
A 21-foot boat with four passengers left from Clearwater Pass at 6:30 a.m. EST on Saturday. It was due to return after dark but never arrived.
A friend called the Coast Guard at 1:30 a.m. EST on Sunday and reported the boat missing.
Per the report, officials say that the Gulf waters are extremely choppy and that it’s believed the boat is in distress.
Scary Story here, it says one for the Lions and one for the Raiders, be the third one 49ers or not, let's hope this turns out for the better.
Scary stuff indeed.
FOOCH'S NOTE: 5-0 opened another thread but I'm just moving it to this to keep it in one thread:
UPDATE: According to FOX 13 in Tampa, Smith, Cooper, and Bleakley were wearing life jackets. Let's hope the Coast Guard can find them as well.
UPDATE II: Schuyler is in serious condition, but he was conscious and had a life vest on when the Coast Guard rescued him. Apparently the boat was anchored when it flipped over. Schuyler clung on to the boat until he was rescued. There are still no updates on the other three missing men.
UPDATE III: From FOX News:
Schuyler reportedly told authorities that all of the boaters were alive and together at about 2 a.m., but somewhow got separated.
A Coast Guard spokesman told FOX News that they were optimistic the remaining boaters, who are believed to be wearing life jackets, would be found alive. Weather conditions had also calmed down.

The San Francisco 49ers were losing badly through 30 minutes of play on Sunday against the Seahawks. And interim coach Mike Singletary pulled no punches during his first halftime speech -- but he did pull down his pants.
I used my pants to illustrate that we were getting our tails whipped on Sunday and how humiliating that should feel for all of us. I needed to do something to dramatize my point; there were other ways I could have done it but I think this got the message across.
-- Mike Singletary
A team spokesman Thursday confirmed a report by Arizona radio station XTRA's Mike Jurecki that Singletary dropped his pants in front of his team at halftime.
"He was just dramatizing how embarrassing it was," 49ers director of public relations Aaron Salkin said.
The halftime talk went something along the lines of "We're getting our tails whipped out there, now let's get back out there," according to Salkin.
Singletary is not available to the media until Monday, but he did issue this statement: "I used my pants to illustrate that we were getting our tails whipped on Sunday and how humiliating that should feel for all of us. I needed to do something to dramatize my point; there were other ways I could have done it but I think this got the message across. I am excited about having the team back at practice on Monday so we can get back to work."

Mike Singletary risks becoming a punch line in NFL locker rooms -- if he isn't one already, Mike Sando writes. Blog

When asked if Singletary is embarrassed by the incident, Salkin said, "There are other ways he could've done it. He knows that."
Singletary was wearing boxers.
And the animated halftime talk didn't seem to work so well. The 49ers trailed 20-3 at halftime, and lost 34-13.

News flash: Belichick knows his stuff
You think the Patriots are going to be prepared to face the 49ers on Sunday?
Patriots Bill Belichick has an incredible football mind. He demonstrated on Wednesday when the Boston-area media asked about . . . whether it's one of those things where they have to see [the 49ers] on the field to accurately be able to judge their speed and quickness.
. . .
"To a certain extent. Also the scheme and how they are going to play us . . . You can certainly prepare for it and that is a good part of the preparation. But until you see it live, it's a little different.
"We have seen a lot of these players -- defensively, the whole secondary. Donald Strickland was in Indianapolis. Michael Lewis was at Philadelphia and Mark Roman was in Cincinnati. Nate Clements, we saw a lot of in Buffalo. Walt Harris was at Indianapolis and Chicago. We have seen Justin Smith. We have certainly seen Takeo Spikes and (Aubrayo) Franklin.
. . .
Belichick mentioned 15 players on the 49ers roster. And, furthermore, he did it all without notes.
. . .
Meanwhile, Mike Nolan mentioned one Patriots player by name today. Well, he said "Wesley Walker," but I'm pretty sure he meant Wes Welker.
