Gameday Omens from Around the House

So, I'm not very good at reading tea leaves.  And in the first six hours of this much-anticipated gameday, every occurrence in my household has me thinking of the game tonight.  I'm just not sure...

I finally loaded a few pics from our trip down to Bear's home last weekend.  The videos from the stadium weren't anything you couldn't get a sense of from TV, and the flipcup and bag skull vids may...

Penn State as a crossover game? I’m not that thrilled. PSU is an aging football dynasty with nasty, vulgar fans. When Nebraska traveled to Happy Valley in 2002, "Jersey Shore" broke out in Beaver Stadium.

Mrs. Saban's wonderful grammar at a Commencement Address

17
The gem: "It took Nick and I several costly mistakes in our lives and our marriage and our careers to realize how important it is to get up every morning and do what you want to do," Saban said" If you were delivering a commencement address, wouldn't you ask at least a couple friends to proof your remarks? It kinda made this intro even more apt: "It was a natural fit as her son attends Shelton State. And Terry Saban showed she was not afraid to speak candidly." Not afraid indeed!

PSUWifey brought a friend over to my house; we ate bacon and took naked pictures. Now, all of that is true. What is also true is she is a fine photographer and we're really grateful to have gotten to work with her. If you're in the market for baby photography, I wholly endorse and recommend her work. Thanks so much PSUWifey! We absolutely love the pics! p.s. if she gives you a choice of assistants, ask for Alexis.

Alabama's Dark Years

6

Been tryin to read a little more these days on our old rivals from Alabama and saw that RBR did a fairly thorough series on their own version of the Dark Years. It's in five parts and as bix noted in one of the comments occasionally reads 'like a comic book,' but it's got a good insider feel. Which seems important when the meat of their darkness consisted of administration personnel power struggles. In any case, could help arm yas a little better for Hate Week.

Link in case ppl comment. Ok, this article reads kinda like a laundry list, sounds a little more like a HS field hockey article than the NYT. 'She scored, then she scored, then...' But OMG, it's so full of win. The quote above was easily my favorite (poor Randy Shannon), but this one's packed full of goodies. Enjoy

"Who wouldn’t want their kid to be Tim Tebow?" – Urban Meyer Uhhhhh, me. My two-year-old daughter has a better pro throwing motion, and I’m actually not joking. She has a tight, compact throwing style and gets the ball out of her hand a split-second before her older sister earholes her with a Mulan doll.

Best of Captain Chaos 2009

For anybody who only occasionally (or never) checks in. Includes some gems like: "I do have to admit, it was cool as hell to sit and watch the fight with Ovechkin, Mike Green, Backstrom and Brashear. I was even trying to talk them into a little exhibition fight before everything got going. Well, everyone but Brashear, he would probably dominate me. I mean, I think I would be good if I could wrestle him down, but I really don't want him to punch me in the face." Add'l linky

More Cael Sanderson Awesomeness

Dude's been fascinating me lately, so I've been checking on his site and found this gem. Add'l linky. "In addition to my passion for wrestling, I love the outdoors… and especially bears! My friend, Doug Seus, from my hometown of Heber City, trains bears for the movies. Doug and his family are some of the coolest people I know. Every chance we get to visit the Seuses we jump at the opportunity. Doug also has a pack of wolves, and over the years I’ve seen deer, racoons, and a badger at there property that they were training. When I was young I caught trout with Doug’s son, Jed, in the stream behind their house with our hands. We then fed the fish to their raccoons. "

Odrick and Bielema on the same club scene?

34

"Penn State All-America defensive tackle Jared Odrick happened across Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema a few days ago and, after they exchanged pleasantries, Bielema said something that the 6-5, 296-pound anchor of the Lions' d-line took to heart. "Coach Bielema shook my hand and said, 'Represent,' " Odrick said. "What he was telling me, basically, was to go out and represent our conference well." Thanks for the clarification Jared. I just hope the weren't both laying rap on the same coed.
