My GBP Shadow Draft--2005-2008. Hindsight is 20/20
2005
1) A Rodgers- BPA, no explanation needed
2a) N. Collins
2b) Justin Tuck DE- (was Terrance Murphy WR) also could be OJ Atogwe, Frank Gore or V Jackson
4a) Kerry Rhodes S- (was M. Underwood CB) Rhodes has been a solid safety for Jets and Cards.
4b) Darren Sproles HB- (was Poppinga) also could be Herremans G Phi, or J. Sanders S NE
5a) Trent Cole DE- (was J. Coston C-G) Cole is an explosive edge rusher that might have converted to 3-4 OLB
5b) Tyjuan Hagler ILB- (was Mike Hawkins CB) Hagler is a solid player for the Colts
6a) Chris Kemoeatu G- (was Mike Montgomery)
6b) Jay Ratliff NT- (was Craig Bragg WR) An All-Pro in the 6th round? Yes Please
7a) Ryan Fitzpatrick QB- (was Kurt Campbell S) Solid backup/fringe starter
7b) Madison Hedgecock FB- (was Will Whitticker G) not much left
2006
1) Haloti Ngata DE (was Hawk) Dominant DE vs Solid but unspectacular LB is no brainer in my book.
2a) Maurice Jones Drew RB (was Colledge) another no brainer
2b) Greg Jennings WR
3a) Brad Smith WR- (was Abdul Hodge LB) "Slash" type with KR skills
3b) Owen Daniels TE- (was Spitz) Daniels is great when healthy, Spitz is not.
4a) Jahri Evans G- (was Cory Rodgers WR) Evans is a regular at the Pro Bowl.
4b) Elvis Dumervil OLB- (was Will Blackmon CB) Dumervil is a beast off the edge in a 3-4. Also could be B. Marshall WR
5a) Charlie Peprah S- (was Ingle Martin QB) Pep has been solid for us and would have been a worthy pick.
5b) Omar Gaither LB- (was Tony Moll T) solid depth at LB
6a) Cortland Finnegan CB- ( was Johnny Jolly) Finnegan may be a dbag but he is pretty effective. Jolly is pretty average.
6b) Antoine Bethea S- (was Tyrone Culver) very good player for Colts
7) Dave Tollefson DE has become a good rotation guy for Giants but was our own pick.
2007
1) Leon Hall CB- (was Harrell) Anything is better than Harrell right?
2) Ryan Harris RT- (was BJack) Not much to choose from in this draft and OL depth beats an average RB
3a) James Jones WR
3b) Michael Bush RB- (was Aaron Rouse S) Bush is one of my personal favorite sleepers.
4) Doug Free T- (was Barbre) Free is a competent Tackle, Barbre was not.
5) Brent Celek TE- (was David Clowney WR)
6a) Korey Hall FB
6b) Desmond Bishop LB
6c) Mason Crosby K
7a) Jason Snelling FB/HB- (was D. Wynn RB)
7b) Ahmad Bradshaw HB- (was Clark Harris)
2008
2a) Desean Jackson WR/KR- (was Jordy) really a tougher choice than it appears. Took Desean based on KR ability
2b) Terrell Thomas CB- (was Brohm QB) Thomas is becoming a good player for NYG
2c) Jamaal Charles RB- (was Pat Lee)
3) Jermichael Finley TE- Potentially the best TE in NFL in a year or 2 if healthy.
4a) Mike McGlynn G/C- (was Jeremy Thompson DE) McGlynn is a versatile backup for the Eagles
4b) Josh Sitton G- Many Pro Bowls are in his future.
5) Carl Nicks G- (was Giacomini) Nicks is a pretty good G and made the Pro Bowl.
7a) Matt Flynn QB- Solid Backup
7b) Peyton Hillis RB- (was Brett Swain)
Just an idea
Let me first state that Aaron Kampman is my favorite player currently on the Packers. He is arguably the best player on the defense. With the switch to the 3-4 wouldnt it make more sense to try to trade Kampman? He is one of the best 4-3 ends in the league but is a big question mark for us at OLB. What if he is a bust at OLB? Is he then gonna walk when his contract expires after next year to play DE for some other 4-3 team? The franchise tag is only an option if he can actually play the new position at a high level. You would think a team would be willing to give up something similar to what the Vikes gave up for Jared Allen. Kampman is imo just as good as Allen. I am not saying I want him to be traded I just think it makes some sense. I just wanted to get some other opinions.
