Dawg Sports For someone who knows a lot more about recruiting

than I do___which doesn't take much:  is there a site that posts each SEC team's football signees and their individual status as to qualifying "academically"?  I understand this is a Pre-K level question but I would like to know if such a site exists and its url if possible.  I suppose all schools would be listed there, but the SEC is my primary interest.  I have to put in this sentence to surpass the minimum word requirement, and I thank you sincerely for civil replies.

Dawg Sports O.K., Mr. Head Coach of zero tolerance on mistakes.

"Georgia football coach Mark Richt was prohibited from calling recruits for one week after committing an NCAA secondary violation for impermissible contact with a recruit on Aug. 20."    Let's see__forgetting traffic court for a 22 year old merits a two game suspension.   SO O O O, a head coach with too many administrative duties to keep on the cutting edge of football who forgetts the rules about recruiting underclassmen should require a self imposed penalty of  ____________?

Dawg Sports What does this mean__part deux?

"Georgia coach Mark Richt says he has been "freed up" from some administrative duties to spend more time on football."  I read in a cursory manner the article in the local newspaper that contained the above sentence.  My question__who the hell put "administrative" duties on the head football coach that interfered with his ability to coach the football team?  And, why did it take so long to "correct" this problem?  Two questions, I know, but this seems somewhat ridiculous to me.

Dawg Sports What does this mean?

"The culture of our program is changing," kicker Blair Walsh said. "We've got a new regime of seniors coming in, and we'll go from there. We have a new strength coach, and we're going to start a new philosophy here."  Particularly the "We've got a new regime of seniors coming in, and we'll go from there" portion.   Was that a reference to the upcoming senior Bulldogs taking over leadership roles (If so, does that mean a team perceived lack of senior leadership this year) or does it refer to high school seniors coming in?  Just wondering?

Dawg Sports Told you Dan Mullen

looked too much like Gomer Pyle to be the Gators' head coach.  An acquaintance o mine who is a Gator alum and worked for UF a few years told me the day Meyer resigned that Foley carried a list of the top five candidates he would go after FOR EACH HEAD COACHING POSITION at Florida should a vacancy occur in any such position.  He supposedly constantly updates the rankings.  The man knows his business, imo.  Perhaps all AD's do this, but I can't believe Evans was updating his list while holding the red panties

Dawg Sports I don't get it.

I just watched Kornheiser & Wilbon closing out PTI  and debating whether Meyer would coach again.  Both stated they "knew he wanted to coach again."  Why can't people accept that some folks actually decide they don't like what they are doing and decide to quit doing it, despite the money and despite the fact that everybody else thinks it's a great job.  I don't know why Meyer quit, but if it's because he no longer enjoys what he is doing  and wants to do something else, I admire him greatly for that.  I did it two years ago and have not regretted it one time since.  I highly recommend it to you as well.

Dawg Sports Something good to say about Richt.

He ain't Bo Pellini.  I don't care if Pellini is the greatest football coach on the planet.  He chews gum (or something) incessantly like a twelve year old girl and wears a baseball styled cap pulled down to his ears like a thirteen year old redneck boy.  And, worst of all, wears that sweatshirt or whatever that pullover thing is___that makes him look like he just got off his Craftsman riding lawn mower, wiped his hands on his shirt, and went to the game.   I know that the days of head coaches in football wearing ties and white shirts, much less sportscoats or blazers and hats (that's right, HATS, not caps) are over, except in Columbus, Ohio.    But, please, Pellini try a Men's Wearhouse or go to a college basketball game and look at the head coach before choosing your gameday attire.  And, thank you, Coach Richt for at least semi-dressing for success.

Dawg Sports The stark reality is . . .

Auburn's players and coaching staff handed us our respective arses Saturday.  They came to play, we did until we got ahead 21-7 when, as usual, Richt squatted and played not to lose.   Yes, some Auburn players took some cheap shots, and some Georgia players took some cheap shots.  Yes, Fairley should have been ejected for the spearing "sack", and yes, the Georgia O-line responded in kind a few plays later.  The SEC refs lost control of this one early in the first quarter.   I cannot believe the whining I am hearing from UGA fans about this game__they whipped us good and they would have whipped us good even if all the extracurricular activities had not occurred__they had a better game plan, better game day coaching (sound familiar), and they wanted it more.  Assuming Newton is later declared ineligible and the game is forfeited, that will not alter the fact that they whipped our arses.   UGA has beaten 5 opponents this year who have a combined 15-36 record, and KY has 6 of those wins.  We have added Idaho State (1-9), Vandy (2-8), La Lafayette (2-8), and UT (4-6) to that win list, and only Ky has a quality win (over SC).   Quit whining and look at what we have "accomplished."

Dawg Sports Am I missing something ?

"The season lives or dies against the Yellow Jackets in two weeks. For most of Mark Richt's tenure in Athens, Dawg fans got used to viewing the Georgia Tech game at the end of the season as a tasty snack at the end of an already successful season. This year Bulldog Nation is in the unusual position of needing a win in the Clean Old-Fashioned Hate rivalry just to earn a bowl bid and avoid the program's first losing season in nearly a decade and a half."  Is this guy nuts?  Beating Ga Tech does not make this season "live" since it has been dead since the SC game.

Dawg Sports Explain it to an old man, please.

Is it (a) or (b) or both?

(a)  The computer nerds who assign the "stars" to a high school football player don't know diddley about talent?  These guys have rated our classes in the top 10 for at least the past 5 years.

(b)  The UGA coaching staff doesn't know diddley about maximizing the talent these "stars" possess.

I cannot believe anyone thought this thing was "turned around" by victories over Vandy, UT, and Ky, who have only one quality win among them.   Saturday's game was between the worst two teams to have taken the field in Jacksonville in 40 years at the same time in this rivalry; Ga has had worse, and Fla has had worse, but never have the two fielded such ineptitude at the same time.

Dawg Sports WR Davaris Daniels, why not UGA?

One of the best football players and human beings ever to attend UGA is Phillip Daniels, from Seminole County High School in Donalsonville, Georgia.  He and his wife Leslie are fine human beings who have raised a good son, Davaris, a wide receiver who plays in suburban Chicago, where the Daniels' live, although Phillip is playing for the Redskins.  Phillip still contributes to the resurgence of the Redskins.   Last summer, when I met him, he expressed sadness that UGA wouldn't even look at his son__6'3", 190, 4.45  40, 41 inch vertical, and a four star by Rivals, Scout, and ESPN.  He has now verbally committed to Notre Dame after being recruited by Michigan St., Oklahoma, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisville, Memphis, Michigan, and Nebraska.  If UGA really wants to eliminate the thug factor, why not a legacy?  I assure you the senior Mr. Daniels can whip young Davaris back into shape if he ever strays, which is doubtful.

Dawg Sports Jumping the Gun? Hold off on Caleb.

Never been a big Caleb King fan, but he has done a decent job in a role of part time tailback__not that he would get much PT for any other team in the conference.  The arrest, as I understand it, was for not appearing in court for a speeding ticket.  BIG FAT HAIRY DEAL!  There was a time when podunk counties, like those from which I hail, would simply forfeit the cash bond and not even send in a disposition for the Dept of Public Safety to double punish someone by suspending his or her license for failure to appear.  Alas, in these times of utilizing the traffic laws to raise revenue, most jurisdictions will stop at nothing to raise the collection coffers.  Maybe he didn't post a cash bond, but advocating kicking him off the team (as I have seen elsewhere posted) or even suspending him is absurd.  Is it against the stupid NCAA rules for me, as a UGA law school alum, to represent these kids pro bono?  If not, get Caleb and the other players my address and phone number, T.  Kyle.

Dawg Sports Front Yard Theory.

Since I am fortunate enough to live close enough to the border to leave the state at least once a week and enter a state which understands that true capitalistic societies tax gambling institutions rather than insisting upon being the only dealer in the game (i.e., legalize only a state run lottery), I have for the past 4 weeks placed a not so small wager on the Dawgs'.  Needless to say, I have not fared well.  A friend of mine says that when you lose your wallet in the front yard, you cannot go to the back yard and find it.  Following this theory, I have once again placed my financial fate in the hands of the Dawgs, giving the Vols 11 1/2 points__putting my money where my mouth (or is it just my heart) is.  Should the game result in another loss for me, I can reach no conclusion other than the fact that the Front Yard Theory is not valid.  Or could it be that some goat has found my wallet and taken it to the back yard.  Aloha.

Dawg Sports Explain to me again, T. Kyle,

how we are going to enter the Florida game with only two losses and how we are going to finish 8-4.  Exactly which team are we going to beat __Auburn or Florida__assuming we win all the rest of them.   For the third game in a row, Richt was the second best game day head coach on the field.   Even my wife commented that it looked like two average high school teams on the field last night.  Mississippi State__you've got to be kidding.

Dawg Sports Didja catch Jesse Palmer's comment?

Although, as commented elsewhere on this site, I spent more time last night watching "Once Upon a TIme in the West" rather than tolerating the love fest for "Ellis Johnson's defense" and "The Ole Ball Coach's Offense", I did manage to watch enough to hear Jesse Palmer (I think it was he) say something like, "We have to remember that Southern Miss's defense is not Alabama or Florida OR EVEN GEORGIA."  Although I realize that Jesse is a Gator whose main claim to fame came as "The Bachelor" one year, I believe his snide comment demonstrates the level to which respect for Georgia has deteriorated.  Let's hope Grantham can turn this around.

Dawg Sports Pardon the Roar Coming From South Georgia Today,

but many of us just learned that the Dawgs and the much despised Giant Water Lizards have agreed to extend the Cocktail Party in Jacksonville through 2017.  It seems all that remains is for the Jacksonville/Duval County governing body to approve the deal which is sweetened some for both universities.  Unless the governing authority there is as inept as the Georgia General Assembly and the United States Congress, it will be unanimously approved so that the MEGA MILLIONS can be infused into the First Coast economy.  Hoo-damn-ray!

Dawg Sports Denver Bulldog Club Tailgate

I am planning to go see the Dawgs slaughter the Buffaloes in Boulder this fall and would like to know of any interesting things to do within a short drive of Boulder__other than touring Rocky Mountain National Park.  Also, would like to hear about any good restaurants and/or watering holes there.  Finally, it is my understanding that the Denver Bulldog Club is hosting a tailgate party 1/4 mile from the stadium on the day of the game and wonder if any Dawgsports people are planning to attend?  Thanks..
