New guy here.
Just wanted to introduce myself and tell you how impressed I am with the site! I have been checking out the litter box for a couple of weeks and want to say that it's top notch! Very impressed with the recaps, minor league coverage, etc. I have been in south fla for about six years and haven't followed the cats much (read: at all) but made the commitment to support them this year. Got a couple of live games in so far (jets, pens) and caught most of the games on the tv. Watched a bunch of hockey when I was a bit younger, used to love modano's Stars teams (Texas boy), but as I said, hockey has been off of my radar until this year. Lifelong dolphins fan, enjoy the Heat, and now the Cats. I'm up north in Jupiter, and wondered if anybody got together for games in this neck of the woods. Anyways, glad to be here!

My 2011 Dolphin wishes
Wow, can you end a season any worse?? Now that the pain is over we will all be sharing our thoughts and wishes for the Fins in 2011. Here's my take:
1. A new coach. It's not that I really dislike Sparano, I actually think that he's a decent coach in most respects (clock management excluded). It's just that he's a Parcells guy and I think that the Parcells "system" doesn't work in todays NFL. Plus it's boring as hell to watch. I don't think that simply getting a new OC will change that either.
2. A new GM. Looking back at the last three drafts, what do we really have? The hit to miss ratio by this front office is terrible. Gibril WIlson, Jake Grove, Pat White, Pat Turner, Henne, the whole OL besides Long, etc.
The hits have been no brainers: Brandon, Jake, Karlos. Cam Wake and Davone Bess are the only real finds, and many front offices knew about Wake, we just were lucky enough to get him.
3. An O Line. Like, a good one. Long is the only "good" player on the whole unit. Carey is decent, same with Incognito. Berger sucks, Jerry is raw and could develop. Pat McQuistan? Really? I understand the injuries, but that happens in the NFL, we have no depth.
4. A first round draft pick that gets me excited. It would be real nice to watch the draft in April and say, "Wow! I can't wait to see what this kid's got!" Ryan Mallet anyone?
5. Speed. Not the truckstop kind, and not that crap Fergie was on, but real speed. The kind that you can't coach. The 2010 Dolphins were a Big 10 team, and we all know what happens to Big 10 teams when they play the SEC. How good would Bess and Marshall be with a speed merchant (nobody uses that term anymore!) spit out wide? How about a 3rd down scat back that can bust a short pass into a long one? Sounds exciting to me!
6. Any linebacker not named Crowder. I am soooo sick of this guy, he talks all day long and never backs it up. He also doesn't seem to realize that the fans pay his salary, so when he says that he doesn't care about/need the fans... Sit down Crowder, you sir are no Karlos Dansby.
7. Improved safety play. Covering, tackling, hair styles, the whole nine yards. There is some potential on the roster, but they need to be coached on up, and step up.
8. A good f*&%ing TE. Fasano isn't it. The Pats got both Gronkowski and Hernandez in the draft last year, and both of those guys look GOOD. Who did we get? Oh yeah, Mickey Schuler. The football hit him in the face today, or was that Mastrud? Does it matter or just prove my point? Nice job front office.
9. More pass rushers. Wake was on his own this year, the only other time we got pressure was when we brought safeties. What happened to Starks this year?
10. Lastly, duh, a QB. I have officially given up on Henne. I have thought long and hard about this one, and I have considered the "sophomore slump" but I don't think he has it. He's too inaccurate, he doesn't make decisions fast enough, he doesn't put his receivers in position to make plays. I think that he has lost this team. Cut Bait.
I understand what all of this means, it's starting over, AGAIN! We've been starting over since Don Shula left. I'm sick and tired of it, as are all of you. I will always be a Dolphins fan, I will always support the team, but it got painful going to these home games. They were no fun, it felt like I was back watching John Beck and Cleo Lemon all over again.
I won't be surprised if Sparano is back, I would actually be surprised if he got fired. Maybe he can turn it around, but if a Bill Cowher or Jon Gruden is out there it could be exactly what we need.
Happy New Year everybody, let's hope that 2011 holds more that 2010 for our beloved Dolphins.
We will keep under the radar...
Wow, what a game. Defense stepped up and covered for the offensive mistakes. The Beast keeps showing us flashes of his greatness. Wake and Davis showed us a glimpse of the future. A "bust" shows us that patience is a virtue. What a game. Tomorrow, however, I predict that the national media will not focus on the Miami Dolphins and their victory, instead they WILL focus on an aging Brett Favre. The FIns will stay under the radar for one more week. Then...
The S*#T hits the fan!!!!
Sunday night vs the Jests. Monday night vs the Fighting Bunchens.
3-1 or (fingers crossed) 4-0 is a distinct possibility for this club. At that point a few folks (besides Warren Sapp) might stand up and take notice. Until then, let's keep flying under the radar.
Go Dolphins!
PS. I'm buying a F#$*ing Dansby Jersey!!!
Incognito joins Dolphins
We got some more depth/new starter at right guard!

Dolphins vs. Jets
I was catching up on some of the posts that were flying around today when I noticed that somebody named "PhinsR4Phags" was throwing some anti-Dolphin slander around. It really came as no surprise that the aforementioned was actually a Jets fan. Fitting. It got me thinking about the Phins-Jet rivalry. Why do we hate them so much? Why do they hate us?
First off, lets talk stats: 1. Superbowl wins: Phins 2 Jets 1. 2. Biggest historical accomplishment: Phins undefeated season, Jets first AFC Superbowl winner. 3. Face of the franchise: Phins, Danny Marino, all around good guy. Jets: Joe Namath, bane of women sideline reporters everywhere. (see video)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQqIQyT-RuM 3. Best coach: Phins Don Shula, Jets: Rich Kotite, Bruce Coslet, the Herminator? JK, Weeb Ewbank. 4. Head to head record: Jets lead 46-39-1.
When you get right down to it, it's fairly close. The Phins have been the better franchise, but were not talking Pittsburg v. the Browns here.
What about the intangibles? 1. The Jets have some jackass in a fireman's helmet that can actually spell, JETS. Quality. We have hot Cuban cheerleaders. 2. I enjoy wearing shorts to January playoff games. The weather in NY in January is horrible. 3. They got Brett and we got CP10. Nuff said. 4. New yorkers are all secretly Phins fans anyways. They vacation down here, they go to Phins games, their parents retire down here. They really want to be Phins fans, they do, they just can't show it because they are scared that the guy in the fireman's hat will beat them up when they go home. It's true, a guy named Vito told me.
So the Dolphins are pulling ahead...
But the most important things are the moments or events that we remember the most. So I am going to open it up, what is the best moment the Phins have had over the Jets? or simply why do we hate them so much? Discuss...
