Padres 2012 Marketing Ideas
Most of you know that I am a political marketing/pr type person who happens to be a school teacher now. For those of you who didn't, I am a political marketing/pr type person who happens to be a school teacher now. Like most marketing/pr types, I often find myself offering unsolicited advice to anyone stupid enough to stand near me for extended periods of time.
This is going to be one of those instances.
I have some can't miss marketing slogans that our beloved 2012 Padres can adopt this season in order to drive up attendance numbers and create many pants full of bone.

Saving Freshman Ryan - an NYT op-ed on the Boatright fiasco
a pretty fantastic write-up of how absurd the whole situation is with Ryan Boatright and the Reggie Rose saga.
Am I cursed, or are we just experiencing heavy levels of suck - A Tale of Woe From Your Boy justdave
So I love my Padres. I really do. But I am currently in a predicament of biblical proportions (at least the justdave edition of the Bible in which the Padres vanquish the suck). See the Padres have yet to score a point when I attend the Park they call Petco. Not one single lowly run. Not even by accident. And if you don't think that teams score runs by accident, you clearly don't watch enough baseball. It's not like I only went to one game either...

Venable, a strong candidate to be San Diego's leadoff hitter this season, also singled in three at-bats.
(justdave's note - LOLWUT)
This is freakin unbelievable.

UConn resets with a huge win at Texas

Tom Brady on RAZR Scooter
The writers at KSK breaking down Tom Brady's inherent oddness. Pretty well, actually.
Man beaten unconscious outside a bar where some Chargers were partying
Pleeease don't let this be another Cromartie incident (same bar).
yeah so my friend did this last night... it smelled like melting plastic (and sweet victory) and i think it permanently damaged my lungs, but it was so worth it.

Jayson Stark ranks the top rotations heading in to the post season
Should we be surprised or irritated that the Padres aren't included in the TOP NINE?!?!?!?!??!
Soon, they will fear us. Slightly after that, they will love us. Until then, screw em all.
9 Douchebags You'll Find at a Baseball Game
this is hilarious.
Los Padres: The Padres have been trying to hone in on a left-field bat. But their three main targets -- David DeJesus, Corey Hart and Werth -- are suddenly either hurt, prohibitively expensive or fading off the market entirely. So the Padres now seem to be shifting toward just adding depth. Among the names linked to them: Ryan Theriot and Jeff Keppinger.
Somebody call Colonel Sanders, cause there's a bunch of chicken wings in the outfield for the San Francisco Giants.

in related news, Dave was seen with a large smile on his face.
AFC West Stock Rising / Falling
"Rising
Merriman Shawne Merriman, Chargers, linebacker: Merriman had two sacks against Oakland on Sunday, his first two sacks of the season. He struggled to regain his superior pass-rushing skills in the first several games as he came back from a major knee injury. Merriman has improved each week and looks to be at full strength.
Phillips Chargers’ pass rush: Merriman isn’t the only Charger getting his pass-rush groove back. San Diego has had nine sacks in its past two games, after struggling early in the season.
Linebacker Shaun Phillips has four sacks in the past two games. San Diego is getting very creative in its pass-rush schemes, often using safeties on blitzes. The schemes are working and the Chargers are suddenly a sack threat again."
