AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn's men's and women's head swimming and diving coach, Richard Quick, has been diagnosed with an inoperable cancerous brain tumor. Auburn Athletics Director Jay Jacobs announced Quick's condition Tuesday. Jacobs said assistant coach Brett Hawke would serve as acting men's coach and co-head women's coach Dorsey Tierney-Walker will run the women's team while the 65-year-old Quick seeks treatment. "We're currently in the process of looking for the best care possible to fight this," Quick said. "I want to thank the countless individuals that have passed along their well wishes, thoughts and prayers." Quick was the head coach of the U.S. team at the 1988, 1996 and 2000 Olympics and served as an assistant at the 1984, 1992 and 2004 Games. Quick served as Auburn's head coach from 1978-82 and returned to the job in 2007. While the head coach of both the men's and women's programs at Auburn from 1978-82, Quick lead both programs to a combined four top-10 finishes in the NCAA. He has also coached at Stanford, where he picked up seven NCAA titles, and at Texas, winning five NCAA titles there. He also served as the men's head coach at Iowa State during the 1977-78 season and the women's head coach at Southern Methodist in 1976-77.

Yeah, you ended our streak....you won the SEC West...but come on, we still remember what an SEC and Sugar Bowl title feels like...Maybe you should of paid Saban 5 mil. each year...almost got it done...but to the pleasure of all Tiger fans, you were shown up.
So, Haha...thanks for all the memories... We'll see you next November...best of luck, you'll need it.

My four? cents...
After this last season I was guilty in tearing CTT down. I was so upset and likely so. I saw the program I love get stomped to the ground. Auburn became the laughing stock of the SEC...and with our final 77 place ranking...even worse.
Then I got what I wanted...what I thought was going to happen...CTT was out and all was well with the world. Heck, we were getting Mike Leach to be our coach...no, maybe that guy from Boise, nope Ball, nope, Turner Gill...wait what the....Coach Chizik? Who in God's name picked that one?!?!
Right...how many people are with me on that??? I'm sure enough of you out there.
But then I started reflecting on how nice 2004 was...and his continued success at Texas..and then his pitiful downfall at Iowa State. And I mean pitiful...and I hurt inside thinking of this hire. I was confused...how did this happen, but then I thought for a while and read all of the posts here, watched all the youtube and CSS footage, and here's what I have come up with. Coach was HC at Iowa for two years. That isn't sufficient enough to install his recruits (hopefully the case) and perfect a plan. I guess if Iowa's Sophomores and Juniors put up some great numbers next year in the Big 12, we might all have to stick our foot in our mouths.
But nevertheless, Coach Chiz is our coach. He put it down in his press conference that he is an Auburn Man and I truly believe his heart lies with this team...no...this family. He was outspoken and said all the right things...get back to Runningback U, get physical...hit some people. I love that. It's what scares the rest of the SEC...forget Nat Champs...I would love to just get back at Bama...36-0 revenge style.
With Coach getting the brunt of a cold welcome from the fans, I will go out and say that I am now...after much soul seeking...okay with this hire, and I wish him and our young warriors on the field much success.
As always, War Eagle from sunny San Diego

My two cents...
Tuberville's firing has many on this website up in arms and extremely upset about the situation. A lot of the arguing is who is to blame about the firing. But the weird thing is...it wasn't a surprise.
For the past season of humility the fact of Tuberville being at Auburn next year was seriously a dream of some of yours but in no way a reality. You can't make an OC hire that weakens the offense...and then try to install the same failed offense throughout the season without it coming back on your shoulders....and you can not lose to Alabama 36-0 without getting kicked off the Plains. He was gone after the Vanderbilt game. Everyone knew it.
To ask to have someone fired (Jacobs) becuase they accepted a resignation (fired) someone who was infecting our Tigers with horrible coaching decisions and had a losing record in the SEC...and a consistant failing record at that is ridiculous.
I believe Tuberville's firing is a great thing for the University to grab a new face, mind, and spirit of Auburn football. The season of 2004 is always Tuberville's...we had always just hoped that was the beginning of greatness, but it ended up the beginning of our downfall.
Say what you want...I'm not listening...just giving my two cents....
