At First Glance...

OK. I have to admit...at first glance I was about to slide down a bannister made of razor blades into a pool of lemon juice when I saw that we were #3 in the BCS rankings. I saw shades of 1994 when we were #1 in the country, BEAT Indiana but - since we gave up some cheap scores near the end of the game - the writers (damn them) dropped us from the top ranking thereby screwing us in the "old" system out of a National Championship.

Upon further review, I decided to skip sure disaster and think about this a bit. The way I see it, we're probably better off lurking in the shadows at #3. We basically control our own destiny and really need to take care of business. No more close games...no more "unimpressive" victories. Even though it shouldn't factor into the equation, we need to show the coaches voting in the USA Today poll that we do in fact belong in the upper echelon. I'm really tired of a$$holes like Barry Switzer (who was on Fox's OT as their college FB "expert"...what a crock) stating that there are probably "5-6 teams ranked below Penn State..." that are better teams. He also claims that there are much better QB's than the one we have. So much for media bias...again...a Big XII guy breaking down the BCS after a Big XII key matchup. Hmmm....

I've said this before to others. The Big XII is fun to watch...they score a lot of points...they throw the ball all over the field. But...NONE OF THEM PLAY ANY DEFENSE!!! I really feel that if we played one of those teams in a bowl game, our defense would be the stiffest challenge that team had faced all season. We are the most balanced team in the nation and we won't beat ourselves with stupidity (unless of course we have suspensions due to various off-field issues but I think that trend may be over).

Maybe this is simply a rant that makes no sense but I felt like it had to be written.

Go State...Beat the Nation...

Prove all the doubters wrong...

May no act of our bring shame...

Success with honor...

For the Glory...

Corso and the Nut

Lee Corso...as usual...put the freakin' O$U nut on his head when he picked the game. Now, I think the guy is somewhat funny and knows a little about football but I constantly get sick of him not giving the Nittany Lions any due. Even Herb Kirkstreit - an O$U alum - gives us more credit.

ESPN College Gameday is a good show and gives a lot of visibility to college football. But, it sickens me more and more by year how they seem to play right into the home crowd. Even Herbstreit had his kids there in their O$U jerseys...so there goes his sportscaster "bias".

This post probably makes little to no sense but I'm just chomping at the bit for the game to kick off tonight and kick O$U right in their nut...

GO STATE...

FOR THE GLORY...

WE ARE...
