wtf?

NewsChannel 11 has obtained documents that show, as of April 2008, Texas Tech Athletic Director Gerald Myers seemed to be okay with losing Mike Leach as head coach.

Leach's agent tried to start negotiations in the spring. But in an April 29th, 2008 e-mail, at 4 p.m., Myers wrote back to the agent saying that the athletic department's financial condition would not allow Leach to make more money. Myers writes, "We have reached the limits of what we can pay our coach and still maintain the rest of the department."

Myers complimented Leach as a fine coach and said it was perfectly logical for Leach to seek more money. And then, "If better opportunities occur for him somewhere else we will fully understand."

Separately, NewsChannel 11 has obtained a July 2008 letter from the agent to Chancellor Kent Hance. They are asking Hance to overrule Myers and come up with a better deal. Recent public statements by Hance and Myers both seem to indicate the university is now willing to come up with a contract extension and higher salary.

Leach has a base salary of $300,000 per year, but he is also guaranteed outside income of $1.5 million.

NewsChannel 11 has attempted to contact Myers and other Texas Tech officials. We will follow up if they choose to comment.

He's not answering his phone, even when Myers calls.... He's interviewing.... (sigh) I never thought that I'd say this... He's leaving. When it happens, I'll be beset with dissapointment. This sucks. But yeah, it's a business. For whatever naive reason, I just thought Leach would always stay at Tech because Tech and Leach are special together. Tech is special. In ways that only true Techsans know. The same reason Spike stayed for so long. If Mike leaves, I'll be crushed, because he still has so much to do! However, he has a family to think about, and one can't blame him for that. I just hate to think that this is the peak. Thoughts Raiders?

I know somebody mentioned this once before.... but things are different now. If Bama loses to Florida, does anyone know if they will drop to the Cotton Bowl? The only reason I want to know is because I watched that game in '05, and have never been more pissed, or felt more robbed, for whatever reason than I was after that game. Maybe it was the wobbly dead duck of a kick that the ghost of Bear Bryant willed over the crossbar. Or was it the flat performance of our offense in that game? Or was it the bad calls I remember? Whatever, we lost. I would love to redeem that loss. Revenge is sweet. Maybe we get some? Anybody looked into this?

I thought that the gameday sign ideas for Texas were brilliant, well, most of them anyway. So, even though gameday is not coming, I thought we could still toss around game sign ideas. Furthermore, no field storming at the game this week!! Please!! It would just be idiotic.

So I'll start - - You can't spell C_CK_ _CKER without OSU!!

Over the line??? Aw screw it, it's funny. Ideas Raiders?

I also liked: Crabtree, he's not 40, but he's a man.
